You how serious this leak was. The cloud billowed four stories up. Firefighters with masks were able to walk into the gas cloud to find the ruptured line. But without protection paramedics said people could suffer oxygen deprivation. A top priority was blocking off streets and evacuating thousands of Office Workers at the crossroads of downtown san jose. Mitch describes how it all happened. They just walked in our side exit over there, came in and told us to evacuate. We heard all the floor above us evacuate into the stairwell. Thats what originally got our attention. Reporter the ventilation systems began to suck in the natural gas causing alarm as the smell of rotten eggs permeated the air. The gas additive that sefrves t warn people. Another worker said, do you smell something funny . I said, yeah, that smells like gas. He ran into another office, got some masks for our coworkers and we were prepared. Reporter the ignition source could have had critical consequences. A pretty high volume of natural gas that can kind of seek an ignition source and so our goal and job is to prae vent that from happening and prevent anybody from getting hurt. Reporter about ,500 people evacuated including 700 to 800 construction workers at an apartment site. The wind determined where people were evacuated. We could tell it was going south and east. Here its just fairly close to the incident its safe. The wind is pushing it south and east. So thankfully it was not a high wi wind. Reporter that meant some hung around for hours at the farmers market. Some people had no choice but to stay because they were cut off from their cars. In san jose, david louie, abc 7 news. The marin county Coroners Office released its final report today on the suicide of comedian and actor Robin Williams. Williams committed suicide inside his home on august 11. A series of tests showed williams did not have any alcohol or Illegal Drugs in his system. He did take prescription medicine but did not overdose on any of those. The autopsy confirms williams died of asphyxia due to hanging. They mention robbins was battling depression, paranoia, and the early stages of parkinsons disease. Kaiser permanente says the hospital is ready if an ebola case were diagnosed in the area. Kaiser showed off its new dedicated care unit in oakland. Patients who may have ebola will be separated from all other patients and kaiser says there are extra precautions to make sure Health Care Workers are protected. A lab testses confirm norovirus is to blame for sickening 60 guests at this hotel. The outbreak first emerged late last month when a group of people became sick while attending an naacp conference at the hotel. San mateo Health Officials worked closely with the hotel to clean and disinfect the building. Very highly contagious. You can get it just by touching a contaminated source or is your face or eating tainted food. State investigators are now looking through documents and data connected to possible illegal communication between pg e and the California Public utilities commission. D dobbins says he and others are not happy that the group from san antonio is in the bay area trying to lure the raiders to texas. Oakland raiders fans, we think oakland is still the best place. Reporter though the raiders would not confirm the meeting, former san antonio mayor henry cisner cisneros, has. It comes four months after raiders owner mark davis was in South Central texas exploring this option. I was with mark davis and some of his staff. Reporter former raider receiver cliff branch was in san antonio at the same time to receive an honor there. Even if oakland fans dont like it, branch thinks davis has to look around. We need a new stadium whether its in oakland, los angeles or san antonio. The raiders need a new stadium. Their fans need a new stadium. Reporter oakland mayor elect libby shaft said she is committed to keeping the raiders in oakland and talked with a top Team Official this morning. He did reassure me that mark davis sticks to his previous statements which is his top priority is keeping the raiders in oakland. Reporter the raiders offered abc 7 news no comments. The team lease expires at the end of this season. In alameda, laura anthony, abc 7 news. The realistic odds of the raiders actually moving to san antonio . I would say low. Really low. Even henry cisneros, the mayor of san antonio, his guess was 50 50 going in and hes going to be overly optimistic. Id say los angeles might be 50 50. Thats the worry here for raiders fans. Owner mark davis has to do whatever he can to generate leverage. He has to have a new stadium somewhere but san antonio is a smaller tv market. The alamodome there, that would be a temporary facility. You still have to build a new stadium in san antonio if you want to go there and, oh, by the way, you have to get the cowboys and the texans to approve a move to san antonio. I can tell you for sure jerry jones does not want the raiders in texas. He wants san antonio fans for himself. The bigger concern is los angeles. The nfl really pushing to get back into the number two tv market in the kcountry with one or two teams, the rams and the raiders are the likely candidates. The question, again, who is going to pony up a billion or 1. 5 billion to build a new stadium . And the meter is running because the lease is lower in oakland, ends after this season. Im not sure anybody is going to have a stadium plan actually in place by then. We may be looking at protracted limbo as we have been for quite some time. If youre mark davis, youre 08 and then 016. So far no reports of flight delays as a result of the fog. These are the forecast features. Warmer days this weekend. A chance of rain after midweek next week. Lets root for that. Here is a satellite image showing the movement of the fog up to and along the coastline today. Just a few patches out over the bay but mainly a coastal event so far. And overnight we expect fog to remain along the coastline and a couple patches moved locally beyond the coast out over parts of the peninsula, low temperatures upper 40s to low 50s. Satellite image shows High Pressure continuing to build. It has been for several days now, bringing us a weekend of not only sunny skies but a weekend of warmth. But way out in the Northern Pacific and moving into the baring sea, we have this powerful storm, the central pressure at 944 millibars getting close, setting a record for low central pressure producing 45foot waves along the lucien islands. This is a really powerful storm. Well keep watching that to see in what direction its moving and what effect it will have on land areas. Back to the bay area, though, looking at land areas in the south. Well see sunny skies with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s, about 78. Peninsula highs, 76 in san ma a mateo. 70 or just above on the coast. Downtown San Francisco a high of 72. Tomorrow 70 in the sunset district and im competing with the birds flying above right now.
