According to the city crews still have about 45 water main breaks to repair and about 400 customers without Water Service. As part of a mutual aid agreement water departments all over the bay area and Northern California are here to help, including five crews from east bay mudd. You dont plan to have so much of your infrastructure affected all at once. You only plan for that in the sense of Emergency Planning so thats why the Mutual Aid Agreements are in place so other agencies get ready to step in and help and get this resolution. Happening now, a major freeway closure in San Francisco has begun. The northbound lanes of interstate 280 between 101 split and king street just shut down at 2 00. It wont reopen until Tuesday Morning. All of this is being done to make the roads safer in the event of an earthquake. Abc 7 News Reporter alan wong is live in San Francisco with this story. They closed this down two hours ago, and were seeing it bank on highway 101 where northbound traffic is being divert. Kranz crews wasted no time in getting to work on the seismic retro fit. This is what it looked like as they shut the road down. This is a fourday closure that will al clow caltranz to replace two bridge hinges with larger ones to get the span more flexibility. That means this stretch of i280 will be closed from the 101 function to joining street. The southbound lanes of i20 will stay open, and this is what it looked like from the traffic cam where northbound traffic is being diverted to northbound 101. Caltranz says this project was planned in advance and the timing has nothing to do with the exin napa. The structure was built in 1966 and the hinges need to be replaced with stronger, larger hinges to accommodate the new seismic standards. Reporter larger hinges will enable to span the rock back and forth against greater pressure and if all goes according to plan this part of i220 will be reopened by Tuesday Morning at 5 00 a. M. Police say somebody made this discovery around 11 00 this morning. Officers say the death is suspicious. Homicide detectives say the body has at least one stab wound. Police have not announced any arrests to this point. Deputies in Santa Clara County are investigating after someone discovered a body on fire this morning. The driver saw smoke and called 911 just after 8 00. This opened on oak glen avenue near cheseborough reservoir north of oakland hill. Marr medics declared the person dead when they found the body still smouldering. The Sheriffs Office has collected evidence from the scene and is waiting for the Coroners Office toy. D. The body. Investigations now under way into todays death of a San Francisco public works employee who was hit by the garbage truck that his coworker was driving. It happened just after 9 00 this morning. A public works spokesperson says the victim was part of a trash removal crew along quint street near newcomb avenue. Police, public works officials and osha are all investigating. The truck driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with police. The victims name has not been released. Sonoma county prosecutors announced today that the mom accused of grabbing a boy by the neck for bullying her daughter will not face criminal charges. 30yearold Delia Bradshaw was arrested back in may after a 12yearold boy told officials at Elementary School that she grabbed him by the throat. The woman maintains she never touched the boy. She says she only talked to him. She says though that she has learned a lesson from this situation.
