live where you live, this is abc 7 news. an invasion of privacy. new tonight for the first time a owner of a restaurant is responding after one of his employees was caught spying on women and children in the restroom. >> we cannot believe this happened to our customers. >> a cell phone used to secretly record those women and children while they were in the bathroom. >> tonight, a 27-year-old man is accused of planting that phone. we are live outside the half moon bay restaurant where he was taken in to custody. >> reporter: it happened here at jersey joe's and sheriff's investigators are asking anyone who was here and used the lady's room saturday night to contact them. >> devastating is a word i was using a lot. >> reporter: the owner of the restaurant said that the man was a part time bus boy and dish washer, he had been working at the restaurant for six months. >> everyone here is in shock, and i think we all can't believe this could happen to our customers and that is the part that hurts. >> reporter: the sheriff's deputies were called 6:15 saturday night. a woman had called a cell phone recording video in the lady's room. they determined who it belonged to and it had been hidden. two women and four children were recorded. >> your privacy and your dignity is important to us, and right now, we want to hold the suspect account foi-- accountable for h actions. >> reporter: people are asked to call the sheriff's office. >> it horrendous the idea that your privacy is so invaded. >> the fact that they are children is just really upsetting. >> reporter: but in this close knit community where the owner himself lives, they say they stand behind the family friendly restaurant. and we have breaking news, fire burned through a homelessen campment under 580 in oakland. it was reported just before 8:30. fire burned through tents and other possessions. a viewer picture shows the damage left behind and while it burned a cloud of smoke drifted up on to 580, there were no reported injuries. developing news, the police are searching for a shooter who gunned down a 15-year-old boy this afternoon. it happened on sunset boulevard. we are there live with the latest. >> dan, we checked the schools in the area and it does not appear that the victim was a student here, but the community is alarmed that the shooting involved someone so young. this was the car that the 15-year-old was drive whg he was shot on sunset boulevard. investigators marked each of the several bullet holes that hit the car -- the 16-year-old passenger was not harmed. but family members gathered on outside the emergency department. >> any time that you know, a minor is killed or harmed from gun violence. it's horrible. >> reporter: residents are not used to seeing this level of gun violence in their neighborhood. administrators took no chances the school was on lock-out following the shooting. meaning no one could leave during that time. parents were alerted by e-mail. >> reporter: what was your reaction to that? >> concerned. because i know, you know, what things can happen, it does not matter what neighborhood, it can happen anywhere. >> reporter: at this point, the moive is unclear. they are hoping that witness account and security video can bring in leads. >> there was mention of a vehicle in the area, so we are trying see if there's anything related we can find. >> reporter: in the mean tile, a shooter is still at large. >> closing arguments begins tomorrow for a man suspected of kill i killing sierra lamar. over the last three months, the jury has sat through an emotional trial. a former prosecutors said today that the defense will have to make a case that lamar may not even be dead. while the prosecution will stick with the facts. >> what the prosecution is going to say, when you look at the mountain of evidence, that there's no other rational explanation than mr. garcia torres kidnapped and killed sierra lamar, there's no other way that we can look at it that makes sense based on all of the evidence. >> torres could face life in prison or the death penalty. >> a fight for rights today as rallies nationwide marked this international day of the worker and we have a video of a may day rally that erupted in to chaos. this is portland, oregon, police blame anarchists, a march turned in to a riot, they say that they destroyed a police car, smashed windows and started fires. may day protests in the bay area were much calmer we glad to report. along market street, a sea of people marched to civic center plaza to an event with severa messages. the rallies began this morning with a protesting at the san francisco immigration office. we were in san jose as well where immigration demonstrations broke down four symbolic walls. union workers marched side-by-side with tech workers this may day was different, because they are fighting not only for worker's rights but immigrants and members of the lgbt community. we were over oakland, and hundreds hit the street over support of migrant and immigrant justice. >> reporter: as this year's may day made the turn to evening in oakland, there was no resting for the weary, especially for those that joined this group after marching with others all day long. >> i think of this all, day in and day out. there's no rest. >> why?
