Live from the kgotv Broadcast Center this is abc7 news. On one side of the bay Police Continue to search for the gunman who fired on one of their own. While on the other, officers prepare to leave for a memorial to their colleagues in baton rouge. Good evening. Im eric thomas. In both cases the bottom line is officer safety. It is why local departments are on high alert. Abc7 News Reporter joins us live now with more on the story. Sergio . The officer who was fired upon last night in oakland has been released from the hospital. Unfortunately the person who fired at her is still on the loose. The radio calls from the Oakland Police officer who was shot at are startling. I just got shot at. I cant get out of the car. Witnesses describe a frantic scene after the officer crashed into another vehicle. And i can see people running toward the scene yelling hitandrun. Then you hear a gunshot. Police have not released details on exactly what happened. But the mayor describes an attack that is disturbing. This officer was involved in a collision and following that collision a person walked up to her car and began shooting into the police vehicle. Police tell us the gunman fired multiple shots at clark and then got away. We identified her based on her radio calls for help. She was not hit by gunfire, but she was rushed to Highland Hospital with unspecified nonlifethreatening injuries. Oakland officers were writing two per vehicle last few weeks, but Sergeant Clark was solo because she is a supervisor. It is something we maybe have to revisit. That still doesnt take away from the fact that this was a courtly attack on a Police Officer. It quickly raised concerns across the bay area. The San Francisco Police Dispatchers broadcast this message to those on the night patrol. There is no Single Person patrols. This comes as all departments are on heightened alert because of Police Officer murders in dallas and baton rouge. Three members of the south San Francisco Police Department flew there today for the funeral of the Baton Rouge Police man which is to be held tomorrow. It is tough times right now for Law Enforcement and it is a reminder to all of us that when we are out there doing our jobs. They deplore all violence against the police. Dozens of people who live near pleasanton tennis and Community Park came together for a neighborhood rally. They are angry they plan to rip up the green space to build two new Tennis Courts. They say they were only notified about the project by a postcard. About the same time crews put up fences. They are building two Tennis Courts from the citizens.
