church is getting ready for a very important day tomorrow as he addresses a joint session of congress and issues a challenge. good evening. i'm dan ashley. >> and i'm ama daetz covering the pope's visit in washington, d.c. pope francis took over the nation's capitol making a full day of appearances and getting overwelming response. some waiting more than seven hours just to see him from a distance. thousands of adoring faithful gather to catch a glimpse at pope francis. >> it was super exciting. >> it was unbelievable. i have no words. >> jesus came here today. >> he embraced a girl so overwhelmed she was brought to tears. another touching moment came when a girl was stopped who sneaked through the barricade. little sophie cruz gave him a letter with a wish that her parents and millions of others there illegally are allowed to stay. pomp and serk welcomed the -- pomp and circumstance welcomed the pope at the white house. and then the histor canonization of the first hispanic american saint, junipero serra who established nine missions in california. the mission delores got to meet the pope. >> the pontif ended the day in typical pope francis fashion, blessing people before calling it a night. >> some 25,000 people witnessed the canonization of junipero serra. hundreds gathered to watch at the historic caramel mission. the canonization is controversial. some native americans say he mistreated the people and the mission system killed off much of their population. tomorrow pope francis will address congress, a tiers for any pope of the -- a first for any pope. thousands invited to watch. they held a lottery for tickets and the winner stopped by her office this morning to pick them up. >> it is something i had to be a part of. you can be here and you francis is the patron saint of animals and the environment. he worked tirelessly on behalf of the poor. >> pope francis hasn't yet addressed the american church and the way that americans think. >> the most powerful catholic in congress, john boehner, invited pope francis to speak to congress. >> in his universal message to america and to the world, it is looking at the future and he is looking at the good of young people and what's best for them. >> i imagine everyone in congress will hear something they don't want to hear and everyone will hear something they do want to hear. >> many experts expect the pope to continue his unrelenting criticism of capitalism. he called the dung of evil and he will likely urge the u.s. to do more to feed, house and care for the poor. >> i imagine he will speak of the environment and the role we play as leader and major consumer and consumer and how he would address that. >> he made news when he called for a faster action on climate change. in a major policy statement he said climate changing is a global frob with grave -- with grave implications. he wrote it represents one of the principal challenges facing humanity in our day. >> so when the pope issued statements on the environment, we are unsure about what to do about that. >> the pope's address has the potential to create awkward moments for some republicans who denied climate change for years. >> the pope will speak a few hours from now and so far the vatican has kept the speech a secret. all we know for sure is he will speak in english and won't be using a teleprompter. abc7 and she is ama daetz abc7 on facebook. now to that new twist tonight in the case of a missing east bay family. adam buchanan, his son dwaf vin vin --gavin and his mother, molly, have not been seen for weeks. they found a third set of remains in the burned down cabin the family owned, and they say it is now a homicide case. alan wang is on the story. >> this is the log cabin they bought and renovated before it burned to the ground on september 13th. now a third set of human remains have been found in the ashes. >> we are now treating this investigation as a homicide and arson investigation. >> until investigators know for sure who died in the cabin, they can't pursue the killer with any certainty. it is widely believed 37 yoorld by cannon -- buchanan and molly mcafee and their 7-year-old son gavin buchanan were at the cabin when it burned. they have not returned to their home and they are still considered missing. >> when it turned out today there were three bodies, i think it injected a certain element of finality here. if so friends and family tell us they have no idea who would murder them. >> it is the general public being this danger and that's what we wanted to stress is the general public does not need to worry about their safety. >> dna test results to identify the remains won't be available until the end of next week. abc7 news. >> the latest now on the valley fire. abc news was there as people got ready for their final night of camping at the fairgrounds. the evacuation center closes tomorrow morning. they are touring some of the hardest hit areas. the fire destroyed more than 1200 homes. it focuses on finding temporary housing while they rebuild which could take up to two years. cal fire says they are 82% contained. so many people lost so much in this fire and new help is coming. in santa rosa here is tiffany wilson. >> tonight nobody cares about the shoes you wore. it was all about the ones you brought. she filled her laundry be glad to know has recovered. the bay area's booming economy is adding more cars on the road. that added congestion is more than just a headache. first responders say it is a matter of life and death. >> this video from a dash cam on a fire engine shows how narrow lanes and median strips impedes. it took 16 minutes to get to the scene and the goal is seven. >> there is no wherefore the clouds gave us this spectacular time lapse for this first full night of fall, 7:05 p.m. and it was lovely. so those clouds are made up of ice crystals which is why you get the colorful sunsets. live doppler 7hd is tracking some of the clouds right now. as we take a look, san francisco is not dealing with fog. the temperatures rebounded in santa rosa. walnut creek was up 14. oakland came from 66 and yesterday to 79 and san francisco was up seven and san jose 5 degrees warmer. temperatures are pretty 3450eu8d 3450eu8d -- pretty mild except half moon bay. when you get going tomorrow morning you will want dress in layers. turning cooler and a quiet pattern is setting up next week. the satellite-radar showing high pressure is controlling and it is bringing us the warm fall pattern. this will carry over. look for more of the high clouds and so tomorrow morning 's sunrise could be a spectacular one. especially if you are taking the ferry across the bay. we will see the high clouds around,
