People living near meadow lanes have been evacuated since 6 00 p. M. Tonight. A man is in jail accused of making a bomb. His wife called 911. Your wife called. The dispatch reported that her husband was intoxicated and that he was inside the kitchen making chemicals. Police noticed a strong smell inside the apartment and evacuated the woman and her two children, along with neighbors along the entire block. The bomb squad did not find any explosives inside the mans apartment. Our Media Partners at the Bay Area News Group indicated the mixture contained chlorine. The man is now in jail. Good evening, thank you for joining us. Work is on the way to fix an electrical tower that collapsed near burlingame after a construction accident last night. Sky 7 hd shows the bent tower. The work will continue around the clock through the weekend. All but one lane is open on the highway, a traffic nightmare for some 17 hours. The problems are not over just yet. That is necessary because were going to be stringing wire diagonally, so it is necessary to have the freeway shut down. Reporter from 10 00 p. M. To 4 00 a. M. Monday morning this traffic artery will be closed. So commuters have to come up with alternatives. Surface street became one of the busiest operations due to todays shutdown which caused some people surprise. Because i was going to the airport, actually, we needed to be there 15 minutes ago actually. Reporter in burlingame, the crush of car traffic didnt always translate to foot traffic. Reporter this whole mess was caused by the operators of this massive piece of construction equipment. According to caltrans it somehow hit the steel tower friday night. When it collapsed the power lines fell across the freeway. And we heard a loud explosion. It sounded like either a bomb went off. Actually i first thought a plane had crashed. Reporter cars were stranded for hours, some caught in the power lines. No one was injured. Now pg e crews are digging in so they can install their temporary poles and restring 1500 feet of high voltage cables. And of course, once those temporary poles are installed eventually they will have to be replaced but there is no time line on that just yet. And a california hiker was found missing for more than a week. She is recovering in a hospital. Abc 7 News Reporter Melanie Woodrow spoke with the Marin County Sheriffs Office tonight. And it was an elite group that found her . Reporter despite the rough terrain, it made it difficult to find her. She was waiting to be helicoptered home in the morning. Saturday morning four people from this Marin Mountain Rescue Team found miyuke harwood down this steep ledge. 30 minutes later, the lieutenant got the call. Very happy, first of all that the person was found and safe. And in this case my team had an opportunity to play some role in that. Reporter Officials Say harwood managed to survive for a week in the remote area of the national forest. The lieutenant called her name, she responded by blowing a whistle. He says that whistle and a water filter likely saved her life. If there is one thing you need to survive for a number of days as she did it would be the availability of water. Reporter the rescuers that gave first aid carried harwood to a quarter mile where a chp helicopter could land. They flew her to the Medical Center in fresno to get checked out. Fresno county Officials Say she has broken bones and possibly other injuries. She was conscious and talking. She is very, very grateful that she was found. She is grateful to all the people that helped to look for her. So we expect her condition to just improve as time goes by. Reporter as she recovers the team that found her is spending another night in the wilderness. They receive training that allows them to be basically inserted into an environment like this. Rugged, no other type of support, knowing that they will be there for three days without any type of outside resources unless they summon it. There are approximately 100 members in the marin search and rescue team. The team is all volunteer and some members are as young as 15. 20 of those members are mountain simplified. In the news room. And inmates may have to wait in line to use potties. Portable showers were brought in. Water use is limited since wednesday when one inmate came down with the disease. We have identified the suspect responsible for the senseless and cowardly act. Today, the District Attorneys Office has accepted capital murder charges on shannon j. Miles. Deputies say that Darren Goforth never had time to react, filling up his patrol car with gas in the evening. Suspect went over to him and shot the deputy, again, multiple times as he laid on the ground. Reporter the veteran officer and father of two died at the scene. Its not an incident where an individual was provoked by a confrontation with an officer, you know, this is just a coldblooded execution.
