No. She turned to a team at uc davis who first removed her left kidney and then recommended chemotherapy even though he said the effectiveness can vary wild less wild less from patient to patient. For example the lung cancer that chemotherapy responds to is less than 30 . To boost the odds he is trying an experimental and potentially Ground Breaking technique giving them a tiny microdose of the cancer drug to gauge effectiveness. To identify which cancer patient may respond to chemo before receiving chemotherapy. Thats when it seems simple, but the technology needed to make it work is incredibly powerful. So powerful in fact it used to need a room the size of a warehouse. This is located at the Lawrence Livermore lab. With it scientists can analyze tiny reactions on the scale of dna. To make it practical for cancer treatment, a team miniature rised the process with the goal of analyzing blood samples in a fraction of the time. It slides in right here. He says common chemotherapy drugs work by binding to the dna of rapidly dividing cells and killing them. But better a drug binds to a particular patients dna the higher the likelihood it will work. To get the snap shot they tag a tiny dose of the cancer drug with a chemical label. We can go in and assess how well it will bind an individuals dna. What we are seeing is a trend of higher drug dna damage. If the trial is successful, researchers believe the test could eventually be used for any kind of tumor, potentially allowing doctors to save precious time by avoiding chemo drugs that wont work. It feels like we may go with the effect of medications. She says she is now looking forward to the things she enjoys the most. To go camping with my husband and my dog and see gods country.
