People who live near pit pits high school between Central Avenue and mcarthur avenue where the possible bomb was found had to take cover in their homes tonight. Alyssa harrington is live at the scene. Alyssa . Reporter the bomb squad detonated the device and the impact left this hole in the grass across from the high school. It is a foot and a half deep. Here is what we know. The shelter in place has been lifted, but authorities were called to a vacant apartment over here on summer street about 9 30. They found what appeared to be a homemade explosive device. They were a couple of road flares taped together. Residents near the high school were ordered to shelter in place, lock their doors and windows. The walnut creek bomb squad moved the device to this area away from homes and exploded it. Developing news in San Francisco, police say a bicyclist is badly hurt after being hit by a car just within the last hour. It happened on the embarcadero near hair ri son street. Police are on the scene looking for clues. No word at this point on the injured bicyclist a condition. But that person has been taken to a trauma center. Two men are under arrest tonight. They are accused of setting eight fires in alameda and now police are looking to see if they are connected to a series of fires in oakland. A community in alameda is reeling. Home and businesses are burned by what fire investigators say are a pair of arson nies. People screaming fire, fire get out of the building i pulled on my clothes as fast as i could and i got out. Police say eight fires were set overnight. Bright onehour cleaners were gutted. Angelas restaurant closed for remodeling was supposed to reopen in 10 days. A lot of spot will hit ninety or even close to triple digits in our inland spot. The heat is short lived, but it will be intense on friday.
