it's awesome. >> tens of thousands of fans get a kick out of the stadium. are they still sitting in traffic long after the lights went out in good evening. thank you for joining us. the hype has been huge for levi's stadium. only the fans got to see what the game atmosphere was like when the san jose earthquakes took on the seattle sounders. one of the big worries today, traffic. there was lots of it coming into the game but it was fairly smooth. will fans be able to get home in a reasonable amount of time? now live from santa clara. how is it going right now? >> hi there. the game edging fireworks fired off about an hour ago and there are still people trying get to out of the area. i can watch as people are streaming out. let me give you an idea. these people right here have decided not to leave yet because it is really a good back-up of traffic getting out of levi's stadium. it was two-thirds full with 48,000 tickets sold. the first event at levi's stadium which makes this the first rush to get out after the game. ♪ >> plenty of boisterous earthquakes fans poured in. but about half the people here were 49ers fans. and the new home stadium is a hit for those who have been nfl stadium to be built in california in decades. and it wouldn't an true bay area destination without plenty of choices. there is a basic ballpark dog and a few other options. and since it is silicon two-story building had businesses on the bottom floor and residential units on the second floor. no injuries were reported. more than a dozen wildfires threatened homes and buildings across california. now governor brown is declaring a state of emergency. abc7 news reporter has the latest on the growing fire danger. >> reporter: the situation is not good. and we are just now getting into peak fire season. that's why the san francisco fire department has a strike team tonight. fire flows like lava on the hillside. the day fire has grown to 12,700 acres forcing evacuations and threatening at least 150 structures. started by lining, it has proved difficult to start. it now spans more than 7,000 irks a. cal fire considers it 0% contained. 16 other wildfires burn across the state. tonight san francisco fire department sent 27 people to help. >> we got the request for a strike team. we put together five engines. >> they should rival at the fire in shasta county around be with the seven-day forecast. >> all right. thanks. an american doctor infected with the deadly ebola virus is now in atlanta. doctors say they're confident the incurable virus will not escape. >> the main see climbing out of the ambulance, dr. kent brantly, is the first to have it on u.s. soil. it is a vicious virus that has killed hundreds in west africa over the past few months. for now, dr. brantly who was infected while trying to contain ebola in liberia, will be treated in atlanta. the unit is designed to contain, to protect against infections. above and beyond what is probably needed for ebowl. a dr. brantly talked to his wife today through thing glass. the family is concerned. >> i know he was feeling better and hopeful. >> dr. brantly's co-worker at a treatment center in liberia near the south tower of the golden gate bridge. this canoe was participating in the round the rock challenge when the waves became choppy and fast swirling waters pull the canoe toward the tower and swamped it tossing everyone overboard. >> with the waves being so close together and coming in so quickly, the water was pouring in faster than we could bail it out. before that it basically sunk the canoe. >> i've never been in something that extreme. pretty much it was paddle for your life. just to try to get away from the tower. to make sure that the tail of the canoe got around the tower. >> the coast guard gave the crew some blankets and hot coffee. then they'll be back in the water tomorrow. >> tonight concord police are looking for the suspect that assaulted the woman found bleeding and unconscious. she was found early this morning before boston. the 40-year-old victim was given first-aid and transported to a local hospital. video caught this image of a man walking away from a park in palo alto where two women say he exposed himself. this is a sketch of the suspect. he is scribble as 45 years old, six feet tall, 170 pounds with a him build. he was last seen wearing a tonight into monday. it could bring a chance of showers and thunderstorms. sun afternoon, even into monday and possibly tuesday. tomorrow should be pleasant. again in san jose. look for near 80 degrees. 79 in santa clara. 77, palo alto, 77, san mateo and still 60s at the coast. 63 downtown san francisco. some sunshine and some 80s through sonoma and napa. look for upper 60s to 70s in the >> the comet is only a couple of miles wide. and kind of fluffy. >> to go your kitchen and grab a dry sponge. that dry sponge is about the density of the comet. >> the latest data shows the surface temperature is 94 degrees below zero. >> the ices are turning into gas. the gas is water vapor. and it is losing right now about two one liter water bottles of water every day. >> this exhibit at the exploratorium use chunks of dry ice, dropped into water to demonstrate comet behavior. this is the kind of comet activity scientists hope to see for themselves along with clues to better understand how our solar system formed. >> we can find out where did the water ice on that comet come from. how does it match the water on earth. how is it different? it's awesome. >> tens of thousands of fans get a kick out of the stadium. are they still sitting in traffic long after the lights went out in good evening. thank you for joining us. the hype has been huge for levi's stadium. only the fans got to see what the game atmosphere was like when the san jose earthquakes took on the seattle sounders. one of the big worries today, traffic. there was lots of it coming into the game but it was fairly smooth. will fans be able to get home in a reasonable amount of time? now live from santa clara. how is it going right now? >> hi there. the game edging fireworks fired off about an hour ago and there are still people trying get to out of the area. i can watch as people are streaming out. let me give you an idea. these people right here have decided not to leave yet because it is really a good back-up of traffic getting out of levi's stadium. it was two-thirds full with 48,000 tickets sold. the first event at levi's stadium which makes this the first rush to get out after the game. ♪ >> plenty of boisterous earthquakes fans poured in. but about half the people here were 49ers fans. and the new home stadium is a hit for those who have been anxiously waiting. >> i'm going to tell my grand children this, i'm going to tell everybody this. i'm a local. this is breath taking. >> this is the country's newest pro football venue and the first nfl stadium to be built in california in decades. and it wouldn't an true bay area destination without plenty of choices. there is a basic ballpark dog and a few other options. and since it is silicon intersections nearby to help with the flow of traffic. the stadium seats, approximately 68,500 fans. the 49ers' upcoming season is sold out with fans selling about 10,000 tickets per game. the san jose earthquakes president said it was an honor to be the first on the field. >> it is incredible. this is a great day for the community, for the earthquakes. 45,000 people here to christen levi's stadium. it is really an historic moment. >> the earthquakes have a deal with levi's stadium to play a max a year there for the next four years. other big events coming up at the stadium. the nine monster jam 2015. firefighters in san francisco are looking for a cause of a fire that forced 25 people to evacuate their home. flames broke out behind a building on third street just before 2:30. the two-story building had businesses on the bottom floor and residential units on the second floor. no injuries were reported. more than a dozen wildfires threatened homes and buildings across california. now governor brown is declaring a state of emergency. abc7 news reporter has the latest on the growing fire danger. >> reporter: the situation is not good. and we are just now getting into peak fire season. that's why the san francisco fire department has a strike team tonight. fire flows like lava on the hillside. the day fire has grown to 12,700 acres forcing evacuations and threatening at least 150 structures. started by lining, it has proved difficult to start. it now spans more than 7,000 irks a. cal fire considers it 0% contained. 16 other wildfires burn across the state. tonight san francisco fire department sent 27 people to help. >> we got the request for a strike team. we put together five engines. >> they should rival at the fire in shasta county around 1:00 a.m. and could stay on the scene for a week. these pictures show the california national guard making repeated water drops in the area. as of now, the 26,000 eric fire is only 5% contained. most major fire departments have offered reinforcements to the beleaguered northern california crews. while lightning caused most of the current problems, cars are blamed for two fires. >> they were cause highs. we still hit 101 in ukiah. temperatures still steady. san jose was a bit cooler. temperatures dropped by 5 to 10 degrees and were cooler than average. i'll let you know how much cooler it will be with the seven-day forecast. >> all right. thanks. an american doctor infected with the deadly ebola virus is now in atlanta. doctors say they're confident the incurable virus will not escape. >> the main see climbing out of the ambulance, dr. kent brantly, is the first to have it on u.s. soil. it is a vicious virus that has killed hundreds in west africa over the past few months. for now, dr. brantly who was infected while trying to contain ebola in liberia, will be treated in atlanta. the unit is designed to contain, to protect against infections. above and beyond what is probably needed for ebowl. a dr. brantly talked to his wife today through thing glass. the family is concerned. >> i know he was feeling better and hopeful. >> dr. brantly's co-worker at a treatment center in liberia near the south tower of the golden gate bridge. this canoe was participating in the round the rock challenge when the waves became choppy and fast swirling waters pull the canoe toward the tower and swamped it tossing everyone overboard. >> with the waves being so close together and coming in so quickly, the water was pouring in faster than we could bail it out. before that it basically sunk the canoe. >> i've never been in something that extreme. pretty much it was paddle for your life. just to try to get away from the tower. to make sure that the tail of the canoe got around the tower. >> the coast guard gave the crew some blankets and hot coffee. then they'll be back in the water tomorrow. >> tonight concord police are looking for the suspect that assaulted the woman found bleeding and unconscious. she was found early this morning before boston. the 40-year-old victim was given first-aid and transported to a local hospital. video caught this image of a man walking away from a park in palo alto where two women say he exposed himself. this is a sketch of the suspect. he is scribble as 45 years old, six feet tall, 170 pounds with a him build. he was last seen wearing a of the inland areas. i want to draw your attention. tomorrow afternoon we'll see some of the clouds. the monsoonal moisture its way back toward the area. that might bring a chance of sprinkles late tonight into monday. it could bring a chance of showers and thunderstorms. sun afternoon, even into monday and possibly tuesday. tomorrow should be pleasant. again in san jose. look for near 80 degrees. 79 in santa clara. 77, palo alto, 77, san mateo and still 60s at the coast. 63 downtown san francisco. some sunshine and some 80s through sonoma and napa. look for upper 60s to 70s in the and the robotic spacecraft headed for a close encounter and has bay area scientists excited. and the accu-weather center. there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the california state forecast. i'll hav liftoff of theate las five. >> the atlantis five lifted off from cape canaveral in florida. the unmanned rocket is carrying a gps satellite. it will replace a gps satellite. it has been using three time-on its expected life. the new satellite will provide the air force with highly accurate positions that guide troops and women's and help with rescue efforts. it will help civilians and apple maps. the satellite will be activated in september. for the first time ever, a robotic spacecraft is about to catch a comment and then go into orbit around it. the spacecraft is sending back never before seen images. that's the start of the most detailed. >> we have been really surprised recently as we get close to this comment, the telephoto cameras on the spacecraft have shown us, it is not what we expected. >> exploratory and. physicsist is talking about the strange comet. >> it is shaped like a duck. it is like two comets pasted together. >> they were taken by rosetta, a spacecraft operated by the european space agency which created this animation. it has been speeding into space for the last ten years to reach the comet 300 million miles from the sun. slowing down to maneuver into position. >> we really approached close to the comet. we'll be within tens of miles. may be from san francisco to palo alto. we'll be that far away. >> rosetta will be the first spacecraft to ever orbit a comet. >> that will give us a view from above of the entire comet. and so we'll get great high resolution pictures. >> it is carrying a small landing craft that will be deployed in november with instruments to drill. >> it will give us a real chance to final out what is this comet made of. >> now that they know there are two distinct parts, figuring out where to land is trickier than expected. >> we can only hand on one place. so which of the two will we land on? >> the comet is only a couple of miles wide. and kind of fluffy. >> to go your kitchen and grab a dry sponge. that dry sponge is about the density of the comet. >> the latest data shows the surface temperature is 94 degrees below zero. >> the ices are turning into gas. the gas is water vapor. and it is losing right now about two one liter water bottles of water every day. >> this exhibit at the exploratorium use chunks of dry ice, dropped into water to demonstrate comet behavior. this is the kind of comet activity scientists hope to see for themselves along with clues to better understand how our solar system formed. >> we can find out where did the water ice on that comet come from. how does it match the water on earth. how is it different?
