>> ama: heavy rain, high surf, and lots of damage from all the wind and wet weather. good evening, thank you for joining us, i'm ama daetz. alan wang has the night off. was a crazy weather day around the bay, heavy downpours and let's go right to leigh glaser. >> leigh: much of the heavy wind ask the rain moved in earlier this morning. live doppler 7hd, we did get a little break this afternoon, but now you can see more showers just rotating in. we'll take you in closer starting to see rain developing west of novato. lucas valley road seeing showers, and the bay bridge right now getting wet, wet pavement there some just moved through the marina district in san francisco. there's the livermore valley area. dalton avenue, a little cell making wet pavement there. and also we have a little bit of rain as well picking up between gilroy and holster. now, let's take a look at rainfall totals. this system has so much wind, and check out this gusts. golden gate bridge 55. at the coast, gusts to 56, and los gatos, gusts to 57. how much longer will rain be with us? the forecast is coming up. >> ama: from mudslidesslides to power outages, the storm caused dam all over the area. the mass roman is live in hayward. >> the storm caused a poweroutage downtown. most of the power has been restored. while this wasn't a major storm it sure did take its toll. >> high winds knocked down a powerline that caused an outage at 7:30. many stores and businesses were forced to close on a normally busy wet saturday night. this restaurant says they had to close early and lose business. >> lights off, lights come back on ten minutes later. going to try to stay open, but -- >> the theater closed for the night and other stores and restaurants were able to re-open. >> went black. so we busted out candles and waited for it to come back on. >> did any customers leave? >> oh, yeah, we head a few leave. >> pg&e crews were on scene to restore power. first they had to put out the flaming transformer. this wasn't the biggest storm of the season but it left its make. a mudslide this afternoon in marin yack closed the highway near stinson beach in both directions at 12:30. there was a high surf advisory for the entire northern california coast tonight until 5:00 a.m. monday. waves crashed ashore at baker beach this afternoon. the forecasters said some waves would reach 25 feet in height. in pacifica, one wave-watcher cam from the east bay clad in rain gear just to watch the surf. >> i'm here to check out the high surf. there's supposed to be big waves. and wishly stand up here and hat them splash us. >> back here live. pg&e tells us that all but 14 customers are still without power, and they say those customs well by out of power until 9:30 tomorrow morning. since the lights came back on here, the people are filters back looking for places that are open, and there's still a high surf advisory ending at 5:00 a.m. on monday. >> ama: there were problems across the bay. look at this massive tree snapped at it base and thumbed on to highway 128. tore down power lines and knocked out electricity. pg&e crews worked quickly to restore service. >> the oakland hills tree fell and partially blocked a street. the oakland fire department sent crews crews to chop it up. in san francisco gusty winds pushed a light pole against the park 55 hotel. the department of public works tells us they half never seen wind do that to a light pole. the sidewalk is cordoned off until the pole is pushed back up. >> in the sierra, the storm is bringing snow. the heavenly valley camera shows plenty of snow. the resorts had a good week with over a foot of new snow falling and will likely add to that amount overnight. the weather didn't stop the celebration in alameda where the first lady came to chris an new coast coast cutter. lesion lesion lesion has -- lisa amin gulezian has the story. >> no one could escape the heavy downpower. buckets of rain and unforgiving wind. no even the first lady, she came here to christen the coast guard's brand flu -- brand new vessel, in the kit stratton. >> you're all troopers. way to go. i'm proud of you al making it here. >> the cutter is named after captain dorothy stratton director of the coast guard women's reserve during world war ii. >> to have this beautiful cutter with her name on it, she would be extremely pleased. >> reporter: and to have the first lady support added to the signature attendance. she stressed her joining forces initiative which aims to provide civilian support for service members and their families. >> you're never alone. people like me my husband and believe me millions of americans, know about your service. we are inspired by your sacrifice. >> reporter: and with that, she officially welcomed the cutter stratton. >> bring our cutter to life! half inch. and more sures are -- showers are rotating in right now. here's the embarcadero, san francisco, the flags are blowing as the southwesterly winds are picking up as the showers are rotating in, a lot of wet pavement, and live top her 7hd still picking up some of those rotating showers. you can see mainly in the north bay, making their way from north to southeast across the bay area. petaluma, picking up a little light shower. that shower is over towards the lakeville highway heading south towards novato. 121. also american canyon. going to find quite a bit of rain, wet pavement on the golden gate bridge as this system is moving in heading over towards the embark dare -- embarcadero and crockett ben -- benecia vallejo, and campbell, towards page hill road picking up rain and sunnyvale. so, most of the showers slowly rotating in and they will be ending overnight tonight. the wind is still up though. gusts to 36 miles-per-hour right now at sfo airport. gusts to 18 novato. gusts to 25 heyward. lever more 22. it's calm right now in san jose. mountain view westerly wind at 5 miles-per-hour. temperature weiss, up per 40s to low 50s across the bay area and we'll keep scattered showers in the overnight forecast. a bit on the breezy side. all of these showers rotate out and get ready for sunshine for the first day of april tomorrow and breezy in the afternoon. it does look like the first few days of april will be dry. we may see some rain in here the milled part of next week. overnight temperatures as the showers rotate in mid-to-low 40s, so not too terribly cold, and this is what we're talking about. this is the cold front that moved through very quickly this morning. boom, it was out of here and you can see the rotating showers behind it. but some dryer air will be sinking in and that's where we'll look for most of the activity to move out of here. by early tomorrow morning. this is a.m. tomorrow morning. if you have a tee time, do it. a lot of little leaguers today were washed out. i think you'll be able to get the first pitches in tomorrow. be careful if you're heading to the coast. high surf warning until 5:00 a.m. on monday and the surf is building, anywhere from 20 to as high as 25 feet. highs tomorrow, warmer, more sunshine, and we'll keep the breezes near the coast. interior east bay mid-to-low 60s. 59 for san francisco. look for 63 in morgan hill. 62 for watsonville. the seven-day forecast. looks warmer monday and tuesday near 70 inland. then cool down, maybe bring showers wednesday and thursday. >> nothing major for the
