Reporter kristen, students are planning a protest on campus on monday. They are concerned about what took place with this professor after he was accused of Sexual Harassment. The professor will not be teaching at san jose state this semester. The decision came yesterday when students taking the professors two graduate classes were notified of the changes. Knowing that there were the accusations, how the whole matter was handled and then bringing him back, but i know for a lot of other students the concern has been that this class has been lost, and a lot of them have to graduate. This morning san jose state announced it has found a replacement for the cancelled class and a different professor will fill in for the other course. The professor last taught in a san jose state classroom for about a week at the beginning of 2016 fall semester. Hes been on paid leave since then due to an investigation into a 2014 Sexual Harassment claim by a student. The professor had already been sanctioned by the university after a 2015 investigation and was required to take a short leave of absence without pay and receive additional training, but all of this is just a small part of the troubles facing the department of counsellor education. An email from the interim dean at the college of education announced the department will undertake a complete review of its program conversation and structures during the school year saying student and faculties have expressed a myriad of concerns about admissions advising course offerings and communications and instructional quality, Program Reputation and student faculty dynamics. Theres been an ongoing discussion with students and the message today confirms that that discussion will continue this fall, and what we also know, of course, is that the events of the past few weeks will be part of that larger discussion about how to move forward with this department.
