Good morning to you, carolyn. Hi, everyone. If you had joined us earlier, we had a lot of dense fog in the north bay. It is bright out there now in San Francisco. Fog is lined up along the shoreline. That means a cooler day for everyone. Here is a live look from our tower camera. You can probably already see that cooling in your neighborhood. 66 in san jose. Low 70s in gilroy with 51 in pacifica. And from mount tamm, were looking at better visibility in the north bay. Cool, 56, santa rosa. 59, novato. 68 in concord. Already this morning, anywhere from 10 to 20 degrees cooler and a look at the golden gate bridge, where were waiting on some clearing, but brighten up here, numbers through the 60s and 70s and evenle 80s through noon time. Well stop at mid90s for antioch. Detailed weather look for your neighborhood and a look ahead coming up. Developing news, the Vallejo Fire Department is investigating the cause of a two alarm fire that destroyed a vacant home. Fire crews arrived to find the two story house fully engulfed in flames. Just after 11 30 last night. It took firefighters about 30 minutes to control the flames. The witwo houses received minim damage, those families were allowed back in their homes once the fire was out. No one was injured. Some oaklan residents are back home this morning after friday mornings fire that destroyed an Apartment Building under construction. That fire left a crane in a dangerously unstable condition. Crews managed to bring it down safely last night. Abc 7 new mingalizen has the story. Reporter thats the sound of joy as the massive crane came crashing down, here is another look from a camera situated directly across from the crane. With that unstable crane finally out of the way, most evacuees can start to go home again. As we restore power, those residences that were only evacuated due to being in a collapse zone we will start to allow those people back in as the power is restored. Reporter residents at 100 grand were allowed in first. I was pleasantly surprised when, you know, they told us that. I wasnt expecting to get in for at least another couple of days. Reporter the valdez fire erupted before dawn in an Apartment Building currently under construction. 700 to 900 people were evacuated and about a dozen businesses were impacted. The call to evacuate several blocks in every direction came fast. I live with my sister too. Shes h has a newborn baby. The baby is 1 month old. They said we have to evacuate as soon as possible, we didnt have nothing in our hands. Reporter now waiting for word to hopefully return home is also hard. It is definitely sad. I mean, what else can we do now . Other than just waiting. We cant force them. Reporter abc news. Were getting our first look at Surveillance Video captured before another suspicious fire at an east Bay Construction site. Federal atf agents shared these images showing a man outside a complex in emeryville, just before fire broke out in may. Mays fire came after the same complex came july of last year. A 100,000 reward is being offered in the case. Now to the wildfires burning across our state. This morning, cal fire crews are out in force, trying to stop the flames. There are at least four major fires burning. In central california, crews are working to slow the alamo fire in San Luis Obispo county. At least 150 homes are threatened. Cal fire says the fire has now burned more than 23,000 acres since breaking out on thursday. Shifting winds are fueling the flames and making it hard for firefighters to contain the blaze. The fire is 10 contained. This is video showing another wildfire, burning along the california coast. The Whittier Fire has charged 7800 acres inside the Los Padres National forest in Santa Barbara county. Crews help people escape from several nearby campsites yesterday afternoon. Santa barbara county firefighters say it is 5 contained. Officials are fearful that powerful winds could help that fire grow. Cal fire shared this video on twitter of a jumbo jet dropping retardant on the wall fire burning in butte county. Overnight, that fire grew to 4400 acres. The flames have already destroyed 10 homes. Officials have urged hundreds of people to evacuate. One man says hell stay until the fire reaches his house. It is a trip, man. Cut all the power off to everybody. We dont have no water. Doing our best to get our upper hand on it, but we have a lot to contend with with the weather and the fuels out there are very dry, so long road ahead of us. More than 1100 firefighters are battling the fire, which is now 17 could contained. New details, the ekwaine rescue center has now been able to evacuate, 49 of its 78 horses as that wall fire moves north of the property. The dozens of remaining horses have been moved to the centers feed lot area where there is no vegetation or trees. This is a photo posted on facebook by the horse rescue, which moved from san bow nito county to bangor earlier this year. As youll recall, abc 7 news viewers helped save the Nonprofit Organization from a financial crisis back in 2015. The Horse Rescue Center has now started a Fire Evacuation fund for the horses. We have posted a link on our website. Abc 7 news. Com. North of vacaville, the winters fire is now 75 contained. The 2,000 acre fire started thursday afternoon, all evacuations have been lifted. In the bay area, no big wildfires, but crews have been responding to several brushfires. This morning, cal fire says a grass fire in rodeo is now 370 acres, 90 contained. Yesterday came dangerously close it a freeway and a refinery. As abc 7 News ReporterMelanie Woodrow explains, the fire caught the attention of many people who live nearby. Reporter bright flames near interstate 80 and thick, dark plumes of smoke from this rodeo grass fire. We saw the smoke, and were just we thought it was a long ways away, we found out, it is close to home, maybe closer than it should be. Reporter close to the philips 66 refinery as well. We actually run a machine shop that provides parts for the refineries. So what we saw up here, we thought we better come look and see, something that hits refinery and could get a call. Reporter despite initial concerns, cal fire says no structures including the refinery were threatened in what cal fire is calling the willow fire. Okay. How big is it . Reporter the westbrooks were one of several families who stopped to look and take pictures. Scary. Ive never seen a fire this big in person. Reporter the fire attracted the attention of several kids as well. Many of them gathering in this neighborhood culdesac with the direct view of the refinery and aerial response. In rodeo, Melanie Woodrow, abc 7 news. In south san jose, around 5 30 last night, this video was shot near Silver Creek Valley and piercy road. Firefighters were quick to get a handle on it. 14 acres burned, no one was hurt. So wind has been an issue in some parts of the state with the fires. Hollywood is mourning the death of actor nelsan ellis. You might know him for playing Lafayette Reynolds on the hbo drama true blood. Ellis appeared as Martin Luther king jr. In the movie the butler. The Hollywood Reporter quoted ellis manager saying he died of complications of heart failure. In addition to his on screen roles, ellis worked as a playwright and a director. He was just 39 years old. A pittsburg woman faces charges in the murder of her parents. Police arrested 50yearold Menique Lashon at her home friday. They went to the familys house after getting a call from lashon. Police say the couple was stabbed to death and appeared to have been dead for a few days. Officers say the daughter tried to make it look as though the stabbings happened during a fight between her parents. Police now face a federal civil rights lawsuit filed by the family of a man shot and killed by officers. Family and friends of Anthony Nunez gathered outside San Jose City hall, nunezs family members called 911 back on july 4th, last year. They reported he was depressed and had a gun. His mother believes police did not need to use lethal force. You took a beautiful life. I dont know why you bring guns when my son needed help. The family ought to be able to trust the police to say when you call for help because im mentally impaired, im emotionally distraught, whatever, that the first option should not be deadly force. San jose Police Say Officers fired after nunez pointed the gun at them. San jose City Attorney has not commented on the suit. Happening today, family members of the three victims of last months shooting at a u. P. S. Facility in San Francisco will hold a day of remembrance. Dri drivers were killed during the june 14th shooting spree. Police say the gunman killed himself when confronted by responding officers. San Francisco Mayor ed lee and democratic congresswoman nancy pelosi are expected to speak at todays remembrance. It starts at 2 00 this afternoon at city hall. This morning, the parents of a man who went missing near montero state beach in San Mateo County will be conducting another search. 22yearold Richard Morris disappeared on may 25th, shortly after leaving his montero home. His parents are hoping to get volunteers to help search the beach south of pacifica as well as along highway 1. Todays search begins at 10 30 this morning. One barry bonds is finally on the giants wall of fame. Before last nights game, the team unveiled a plaque honoring his giants career. The Club Spokesman said they wanted this to happen a long time ago. But waited until bonds legal issues were settled and until the man who was once treated as a pariah by baseball because of a steroid scandal got back in the game. Abc 7 news was at raiders headquarters in alameda where hundreds of aspiring east bay Football Players learned from their gridiron heroes. Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch hosted the 11th annual Family First Foundation football camp. Chiefs quarterback Marcus Peters and josh johnson cohosted the event. Like Marshawn Lynch, peters and johnson also grew up in oakland. It is important for us to get back to our community, not just giving back, but being a part of our community, letting them know we all we never left our community, well always be in our community. The kids at the camp received a free tshirt and enjoyed a meal in addition to meeting some of their pro football heroes. The first production tesla model 3 is built and it is ready to roll. Even so, a little haze out there. We still have those heat advisories around lake county and sacramento. But look at this, still very hot in southern california. This goes through sunday night. If youre traveling through the Sacramento Valley, to the sierra, red flag warning there. Excessive heat continues in southern california. Lets take you further south, and show you a pretty impressive hurricane that is not threatening any land. This morning, a 2, now a 3, at 115 miles an hour. This is hurricane eugene, moving on a track, north, northwest, to the cooler waters of the pacific, weakening very, very quickly. There it goes, right on through wednesday. So were looking at a few high clouds from this system, moving into southern california. And we could see some high clouds and some haze drifting up from the fires into the south bay. Well call it partly cloudy today, also in the east bay, it could really see a little haze, hopefully the air quality is feeling better for you, even feeling this influence in our east bay valleys, even though you dont have the low cloud deck this morning. 53 in the city. 60 in oakland. Abc 7 news was in hayward at a ranch with a big crowd of spectators. The picket rodeo, better known as the black rodeo, entertains people from memphis to los angeles. Contestants say rodeo offers a special kind of thrill. And the financial incentives arent bad either. I love it. It is a bit of excitement you cant get anywhere else, and the prize money always makes it a bit greater. Today is the final day of the rodeo, the fun kicks off at 2 30 this afternoon. Abc 7 news was along Mission Street in San Francisco to get a look at the low rider cruise parade. As you can see, many of the cars can perform different stunts thanks to elaborate suspension systems. Some drivers even took part in a hopping contest at ft. Mason. The low rider events attracted car owners from all over the bay area. The San Francisco zoo is about to get some new residents. Take a look at these bear cubs. Our abc affiliate in anchorage says the zoo is rehab tating a Record Number of bears this summer. Two found forever homes at the San Francisco zoo. The pair arrived during may and june and doubled in size. They have become companions, theyll travel together to San Francisco later this month.
