In the past 24 hours, cdc director robert redfield, fda commissioner stephen hahn and dr. Anthony fauci have all said they will quarantine after being exposed. People in masks seen leaving the white house this weekend. But inside, President Trump met with his military and National Security teams, sitting a little further apart. No one wearing a mask. The concern, of course, as the number of confirmed cases tops 1. 3 million and with the number 79,000. 45 states have already eased restrictions. Barbers and hairdressers back at work in las vegas. Curbside pickup at a bookstore in napa, california, and sunday Services Taking place in san antonio, texas. But the virus is still posing new and troubling challenges. That Mysterious Illness possibly linked to it now suspected of taking at least three young lives in new york. We will take you through all of it tonight. Reporter tonight, three of the nations top doctors are sidelined in selfquarantine, as trump fights to stop the spread of coronavirus at the white house. It is scary to go to work. You know, its a small, crowded place. Its, you know its a little bit risky. But you have to do it, because you have to serve your country. Reporter in 48 hours, two members of the white house staff tested positive for the virus. First, on thursday, it was the president s personal valet, a military servicemember on the team that serves his lunch in the oval office. Then friday, the Vice President s press secretary, katie miller, tested positive. Now three key members of the Coronavirus Task force are following their own recommendations, selfquarantining after possible exposure to covid19 at work. Dr. Anthony fauci, the countrys leading Infectious Disease expert, starting what he calls a modified quarantine after testing negative for the virus, mostly working from home. Cdc director dr. Robert redfield determined to have had a low risk exposure on wednesday, he, along with the fda commissioner, dr. Stephen hahn, will quarantine for 14 days. Will you and other white house staffers be following their example . Well, well take the advice of the white house medical unit, which is the best in the business. There may be i dont want to rule anything in or rule anything out. Reporter this week, the president has been in contact with both his valet and miller. The Vice President was with miller on thursday on this trip to virginia. She tested negative that day. Yesterday, in the cabinet room, President Trump was closely surrounded by senior military officials and his National Security team. None seen wearing a mask. Tonight a spokesperson saying he will following white house medical unit advice and is not in quarantine, adding, he has tested negative every single day and plans to be at the white house monday. Its important to remember that when someone has had confirmed close contact with a known case of covid19, the recommendations for selfquarantine while monitoring for signs and symptoms of illness over a 14day period, thats really for the protection of others as well as that individual. Reporter chief of staff mark meadows insists the white house protocols are enough, including testing every staff member in close proximity to the president or Vice President daily. And i can tell you, this is probably the safest place that you can come to. More cases of that Mysterious Illness threatening children, possibly linked to the coronavirus. Cases now reported in at least six other states, as well. And tonight were hearing from families on both coasts whose children battled this rare illness. Heres abcs Stephanie Ramos. Reporter tonight, the rare and dangerous illness possibly linked to covid19, infecting more children. At least five deaths now under investigation. The number of cases more than doubling in new york city. 38 children now falling ill with pediatric multisystem inflammatory syndrome. 85 cases across the state. Im deeply concerned as a father. I am feeling the concern. I know other parents are feeling. Reporter at least six states reporting cases, including washington, where 13yearold Anthony Lawson nearly died. Anthony just was getting worse and things just didnt seem quite right. Reporter anthonys family thought he was suffering from allergies, but in a matter of days, he became critically ill. Take them to the hospital to get them checked out, because it truly could be the difference between life and death. Reporter anthony tested negative for the virus, but positive for antibodies. Tonight, doctors urging parents to be on the lookout for a persistent fever, rash, red eye irritations and stomach illness. These symptoms similar to kawasaki disease, which causes the inflammation of blood vessels and can lead to heart problems. Once i actually started feeling sick, it was more like a swollen lymph node on my right side and i got a headache and it just started going downhill from there. Reporter 14yearold Jack Mcmorrow just recovered from the Mysterious Illness. His family tells us it all started with a fever and a rash. He spent ten days hospitalized. It was scary. It was beyond scary. I believe it was dire. I reached out to my family and let them know that he may not make it through. All right, Stephanie Ramos joins us. The department of health here in new york says they are working with the cdc to develop a National Criteria for identifying and responding to the syndrome. This Surveillance Footage obtained by abc affiliate first coast news. A man enters this house under construction in the mostly white south georgia neighborhood of satilla shores. Arberys lawyers say they believe its ahmaud. Video from inside the home obtained by local station wjxt shows the man in a white shirt and khaki shorts looking around. The first 911 call coming in around 1 08 p. M. Theres a guy in the house right now. Its a house under construction. Reporter arberys lawyers or cause any damage, adding, ahmauds actions were in no way a felony under georgia law. The homeowner, telling the washington post, ive never had anything stolen from my property, or any kind of robbery. According to his lawyers, arberys inside for under three minutes. Tonight the Georgia Attorney general asking the Justice Department to investigate how this case was handled from the start. According to glynn county officials, on the day of the shooting, the d. Within 24 hours of this homicide, he thought there was no probable cause for arrest. Reporter tom, both prosecutors later recused themselves from the case.
