We begin with the fiery jet crash, a close call for nascar star dale earnhardt, jr. , who was on board with his family. The jet attempting to land in elizabethton, tennessee, going off the runway and erupting into flames. Firefighters rushed to the scene alongside a highway there. Earnhardt jr. Telling our colleagues at espn, he and his family, their baby daughter are all okay. Abcs david kerley leading us off. Reporter seconds after the crash theres a baby in there. Reporter those on board are fleeing the burning jet. Yeah, a dude just pulled a baby out of there. Its a private jet. Reporter it was a baby, the baby of nascar legend dale earnhardt, jr. , and his wife, amy. The family was on board with two pilots. The Cessna Citation was landing in elizabethon, tennessee, when something went wrong. The jet rolling off the end of the runway. Video showing that behind the wreckage, something is burning on the runway. When firefighters arrive, much of the tenseat aircraft is on fire. Earnhardts sister tweeted that everyone is safe. The family, including baby isla, were taken to the hospital for evaluation. Earnhardt jr. Is a Third Generation nascar driver, one of the most popular ever, with 26 wins, now retired and working nascar tv broadcasts. The jet belongs to earnhardt, jr. , registered to his north carolinabased company. This flight starting in statesville, north carolina. Seven minutes before the crash, earnhardt, jr. , apparently tweeted another driver and air Traffic Control appears to show normal conditions as the jet was preparing to land. All right, so lets get right to david kerley who covers aviation for us. You learned more about what might have happened upon landing . Reporter i just talked to the mayor who spoke to an airline or airport worker who saw the plane come down half way down the runway, which would suggest it was long and didnt have enough runway to stop. Hes looking at the damaged aircraft burned out shell at this point and is amazed that everybody survived with just some cuts and bruises. David . He with are all grateful for that. Six officers shot and a door camera across the street from the gunmans home capturing the gunfire and in addition to the officers hit we now know there were two officers trapped on the second floor of his home. He was floshooting up through t ceiling at him. The gunman finally surrenders and is facing multiple accounts of attempted murder. The Police Commissioner calling this nothing short of a miracle that everyone survived. Abcs geobenitez is in philadelphia. Reporter tonight, dramatic new video inside the ambush of philadelphia police. Those officers serving a drug warrant, facing a dangerous convict armed with an ar15 style rifle. The barrage of gunfire captured on this ring door cam obtained by our station wpvi. One officer seen tumbling down from the front steps of that house. The 36yearold with a long criminal record now facing six charges of attempted murder and more. Sources say the autopsy reveals he had broken bones in his neck. Does it raise new questions . Sources say the injuries can be consistent with suicide and with strangulation. Heres abcs whit johnson. Reporter tonight, a source telling abc news the autopsy of disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein revealed a broken hyoid bone in his neck. The break can be associated with strangulation or sometimes suicide. Sources say epstein hanged himself with a bedsheet, but authorities are not yet releasing an official cause of death. The report coming as the probe deepens into what happened before his final moments. Investigators questioning for the first time the two guards tasked with watching epstein. Camera footage inside the jail according to sources shows they did not make their required welfare checks every 30 minutes, and they are suspected of falsifying log entries. Colorado springs Police Responding to a reported armed robbery. We got a report of two people similar descriptions, possibly having a gun all right. So dont reach for your waist. Just checking to make sure you dont have a weapon, all right . Reporter as a third officer approaches bailey from behind, he turns and runs away. Hands up, hands up. Hands up [ gunfire ] get your hands up. Get your hands up. Get your hands up reporter the officers later performing cpr on bailey until he was taken to the hospital, where he died. He did not have a weapon in his hand, and had not shown any weapon when he was shot in the back and killed. The medical condition he suffered from that took his life in his sleep and the last time they saw him just hours before he passed. Heres robin and her interview. The night he passed away, we were out to dinner with him just hours before. And we were texting that night. We were texting back and forth up until 12 30 and somewhere between the last text he sent me and the morning, he was gone. Reporter just hours after these photos of a smiling Cameron Boyce were taken by his father, the 20yearold was found unresponsive at his los angeles home. Its not cliche to say you never know. You never know. Its not cliche to say it. You know, i used to you know, when its somebody else, you know, you always feel bad, but until you really it hits you, god, you just you just cant understand it. Reporter cameron passing away suddenly last month in his sleep due to i aseizure which was a result of epilepsy, a neurological disorder that affects nearly 3. 5 million americans. Cameron had his first seizure at 16 1 2. And then until he had his second one, he wasnt considered as having epilepsy. And that was when he was 17, going on 18. He only ever had five seizures, and the fifth one is what is the one that he died from. Reporter was he receiving treatment . Yes. Yeah. Reporter at just 12 years old, cameron landed his breakout role on disney channels hit show jesse going on to star in the wildly popular descendants franchise, showcasing his many talents as an actor. It wasnt the right time, all right . Reporter and dancer. He used to say to me, share your wisdom, mom. Share your wisdom with me, which who says that . Who says that as a kid . And and i would. Reporter often described as an old soul, cameron believed deeply in helping others. In your quiet moments, and you think of your son, whats the first thing that comes to mind . A month or so ago, he came to visit. And i was just so happy to see him. I gave him a big hug. And it was just cool that, you know, heres my now 20yearold son, just drove up in his car from his house. And hes coming to visit me. And like, im thinking this is how its going to be. Its going to be cool. And so, thats my thats my favorite memory right now because it was the last time i saw him just, like, being an adult and doing his thing. When he lived in new york for four months, and it was snowing out, and he just was dancing through it and he just did a pirouette that was perfect and it left a mark in the snow.
