That incident coming as officials in North Carolina investigate the lion attack at a Conservation Center there that left an intern dead, with a 911 call for help now being released. We have a 1yearold who fell into the rhino pit, is pinned up against the wall. Shes conscious at this time. Reporter a visitor snapping this picture after the chaos, a shoe seen inside the exhibit. The brevard zoo says the little girl stumbled and fell through the poles during the zoos rhino encounter, coming into contact with one rhino. The zoo calls the exhibit an educational experience. Pictures from its website show people interacting with rhinos, even touching them. It comes just days after an intern was killed by a lion, who Authorities Say broke through a locked enclosure at this Conservation Center in North Carolina. Tonight, were seeing the first images of the enclosures, as authorities release the call to 911. Weve had a lion attack. Reporter 22yearold alex black was killed. The Sheriffs Department says it all happened during a routine cleaning. The person that was attacked, how bad are they hurt . They are incapacitated. Reporter one of the responding deputies tells nbc affiliate wral they had to kill the lion when tranquilizers didnt work. It took several shots to bring him down. He was amped up, he had been moving around the kennel, or, the enclosure, several times. Shes in the hospital tonight, and were also learning her mother was injured . Reporter thats right, tom. The childs mom was injured. She hurt her arm, but she has been released from the hospital. Police believe he had just used the same gun to fire at the babys mother during a Child Custody Exchange at this nearby walmart on december 19th.
