These pictures from wabc. And it all comes after last night. The tear gas, riot police in the streets shortly before curfew. Small skirmishes, hardly the riots we saw in the beginning. And tonight, look at this image. That baseball game, a first. The fans ordered to stay home. The orioles playing without a fan in the stadium. In a moment here, we hear from the mother and son on live tv, she pulled her son out of those riots. He tells us what that moment was like. Protesters back out in force late today, promising a peaceful march. After the city took back its streets overnight, with a 10 00 curfew. Its 10 00 p. M. Curfew is in effect until 5 00 a. M. You must go home. Reporter enforced by 2,000 National Guard and 1,000 cops, firing smoke bombs and tear gas at a shrinking number of defiant protesters, forced to flee through the stinging mist. Today, schools back in session. The number of arrests overnight dropped to 35, as marylands governor declared victory. Theres no question in my mind the city is now safe. Reporter safe enough for the baltimore symphony to play an outdoor concert. And with the National Guards protection for the Baltimore Orioles to play an historic game. The first in major league history, where the official attendance was zero. No fans. Dream come true for a baseball fan. Every seat in the house is available. 11 delivery. Yeah, they were like, are you okay mike . Are you okay . And im looking at them like, is he okay . Everybody know my mother, my friends know my mother. Are you for real . Really . To see him down there doing what he was doing, thats thats were not doing that. Reporter Michael Singleton says his mother told him to go straight home from school the day of freddie grays funeral, but he didnt listen because of his friends. Im not angry with him anymore. In the meantime tonight, to that other developing story from space, a doomed cargo ship headed to the International Space station to deliver vital supplies, fuel, water, food to those american astronauts. It never made it, now hurtling back to earth at 17,000 miles an hour. This image shows the view. Look past the numbers there on your screen. The cargo ship as it spirals out of control. Tonight, the astronauts on board the International Space station still waiting for food and supplies, well hear from them including american scott kelly. The stakes also high for someone else, the American Company sending the next capsule up. Tonight, we take you inside that american factory. This is the view from the russian cargo craft progress, careening at almost 17,000 miles an hour. 119 miles above the earth. And hurtling toward it. The russians losing control of the ship soon after this launch. The craft carrying 6,000 pounds of desperately needed gear for the two americans, three russians and one italian on board the International Space station. The Program Plans for these kind of things to happen. Theyre very unfortunate when they do. But we do have supplies on board. Reporter as it tumbles in, the craft should disintegrate in the 2,300degree heat generated by the friction with the atmosphere. There are only two private companies that supply the space station. And we have liftoff. Reporter orbital sciences, its rocket exploding on the launch pad in october. And spacex, which recently showed david its capsule up close. And this right here . This is the dragon capsule. And the whole thing is made in america. The whole thing is made in america. Matt, thank you. Now, to the chaos on the ground tonight. More than 70 American Airlines flights delayed because of a computer glitch when an app on the ipads their pilots rely on went down. Abcs david kerley tonight on how this even happens. Reporter tonight, its nearly 75 American Airlines flights delayed because an app on the pilots ipads didnt work. The app that provides pilots airport landing maps malfunctioned and passengers were stuck. One tweeting, pilot just told us ipad is broke. Seriously . Some pilots had to return to the gate area for wifi to download the app again. Obviously, the ipad is very light, compared to 40 pounds of kit bag. Reporter american was an early adopter of tablets in the cockpit. Pilots able to leave behind those 40pound cases filled with paper maps. The ipad use has exploded in the past four years. The map Company Estimates that 10,000 ipads are in jets tonight. And there have been few problems. Im astounded that its been as smooth as it has been. This is one of the first times ive ever heard of this sort of thing happening. Reporter turns out American Airlines has a unique version of the app, and an automatic update last night inserted two maps of the same airport, which made the app crash. Those two maps were of this airport, reagan in washington. So, any american pilot flying into this airport will have to use the backup system, a paper map, until their ipad app is updated, in about ten days. David . The burning of the dead, in accordance with an ancient tradition. David, since the earthquake four days ago, these funeral pyres have been burning across the country, 24 hours a day. Reporter and listening in court today, the killers parents, robert and arlene holmes, as prosecutors paint their son as a calculating monster who deserves to die. His mother even publishing a recent book, arguing Mental Illness changed his brain. Anita busch lost her cousin.
