Good morning to you on this halloween. Im reena ninan. Im t. J. Holmes. Big news overnight. Its been a 48day manhunt for suspected cop killer. It is over this morning. Eric frein has been captured. Frein gave himself up surrounded by u. S. Marshals. John haskell has the latest. Reporter heres eric frein, clean shaven and described as healthy, besides a visible scratch on his nose. On the run for the past 48 days. Now exactly where Pennsylvania State police want him, in a jail cell. The reason this was so important is because eric frein was dedicated to killing Law Enforcement members. Reporter a group of marshals took frein into custody near an abandoned airport in an open field. Frein was taken by surprise, unable to reach the hangar where he had a long gun and knives. I cant think of a more dangerous occupation than going into the woods after this individual. And yet, my biggest problem was telling reporter frein is accused of murdering trooper Bryon Dickson back on september 20th. After his arrest, frein was put in trooper dicksons handcuffs and driven to the barracks in the troopers squad car. We have been in contact with trooper douglas and his family as well as corporal dicksons family. And relief and gratitude were their reactions. Reporter the 31yearold survivalist and military buff put pocono residents on edge. There were numerous sightings which closed schools. Hundreds of officers searched the woods day and night. Its a good thing now that he is caught and can finally rest again. Eric frein will be arraigned on murder charges in a few hours and the District Attorney says he plans to seek the Death Penalty. A mother and her two children killed when their suv was hit by a Freight Train at a crossing. This happened just minutes before a halloween parade was to take place nearby. Several others were injured and hospitalized. The gates at the crossing were functioning. Here in new york, a near disaster when a massive drill bit pierced the ceiling of a subway tunnel. This touched a train packed with commuters but did not enter that train. Hundreds were escorted to a nearby station. It was being used in a Railroad Construction project but they were obviously drilling in the wrong place. Nobody hurt hoar. New details about the plane crash at a kansas airport that killed a pilot and four people inside the airport. Five other people were injured when the king air turbo prop lost power and crashed into the building. Officials say there were about 100 people in the building at the time of the crash. There was heavy smoke on the horizon as you approached the airport for miles. The pilot has been identified at mark goldstein, a veteran air Traffic Controller who retired only last year.
