We have a picture of it rushing through and on to the roads like that. Sams been tracking it from the very beginning. Its amazing. Its unbelievable the rainfall totals in this area. You start on wednesday. It rains all day wednesday. Gets increasingly heavy by wednesday night. Youre talking about the official total of about six inches of rain. Some people are saying unofficially eight inches of rain. Youve got beautiful waterfalls in the colorado area. We have pictures of foot bridge s turned into waterfalls. Parking garages turned into water falls. Streets, roads, highways, interstate, all closed dawn because of whats going on. The word in the boulder area right now is dont leave your home unless youre in a threatening situation. Theyre working on water rescues. Theyre working on trying to get closed roads open. But take a look at this, just to give you an example, Boulder Creek, which runs right through that area. Generally, one or two feet. Wednesday about 4 00 a. M. , it jumps up to seven feet. It doesnt jump up to two, three or four feet. It jumps up to seven feet. Thats over a persons head, just in the creek alone. Put all of that water through the streets and roads and you got a real issue there. Heres the pattern. And its not going to let up. You have a low right here. A high right there. Uh youre picking all of the moisture for the pacific and atlantic. Until it gets into that area thats running right through boulder and sits there with the rain. Theres the denver area. Weve got up to six inches in some places. Take a look at this, this is Boulder Creek runs through the hearzpwcn downtown. Normally its seven to ten feet, lower than it is now. If completely came over the banks. The park bench is partially submerged and the water is nearly touching the bottom side of that bridge. These floodwaters came on fast and theyre already deadly. This morning. Floodwaters came on fast. And watch this as a road collapses, stranding three cars in this rushing river. At least two people have died from flooding from Boulder County all of the way to colorado springs. In some areas, entire roads collapsed. Roads impassable. Major thoroughfare u. S. 36 shut down. It is a rafer back there. The disaster if that retaining wall comes down, which weve been told its pretty dangerous it might, were in trouble. Were praying it stops. Reporter at the university of colorado at boulder, floods are gushing over structures. Completely surrounding College Students with raging waters. This is serious right now. Reporter one of the reasons these floods are so bad, because of a brush fire a couple years ago upstream in the mountain, all of the trees and vegetation was burned down. Pleading not guilty is more or less a formality. And matt wanted to make sure it didnt look like he was shopping for any particular judges. This was the way to do it. Reporter cordle was supposed to enter a plea on does tuesday. But an ohio judge lashed out when she found that cordle pleaded not guilty.
