Governor governor says theres no reason to believe theres any mediate threat to manhattan after an explosion injured at least 29 people. A man hunt is under way to find who is behind that blast. Surveillance video shows the moment it happened around 5 30 last night our time in the citys chelsea neighborhood. All 29 victims have been released from the hospital. New yorks governor saying theres no evidence of International Terrorism connected with the explosion authorities safely removed a possible secondary device, a Pressure Cooker that was found a few blocks away. We will find who planted these explosives and they will be punished. We will not allow these type of people and these type of threats to disrupt our life in new york. Thats what they want to do. Were not going to let them do it. Governor cuomo says there will be a thousands Additional Police officer monitoring airport and bus stations. President obama has been briefed on this incident but has not issued a formal statement yet. Hes expected to arrive in new york city later today. Democratic president ial candidate Hillary Clinton talked about the explosion with her traveling press corps. She stressed the importance of not jumping to conclusions. Well, i think its important to know the facts about any incident like this. Thats why its critical to support the First Responders, the investigators who are looking into it trying to determine what did happen. Donald trump offered a different response just minutes after the explosion after a Campaign Event in colorado. Ill tell you that just before i got off the plane, a bomb went off in new york and nobody knows exactly whats going on, but we are living in a time we better get very tough. A third suspicious package turned out to be a bag of trash. Officials say yet another explosion at a 5k race in new jersey yesterday morning does not appear to be connected to last nights incident . New york. That race to benefit marines and sailors was cancelled after a pipe bomb went off. State police found the device inside a trash can along the raceway. It went off in an area where thousands of runners were just about to start that charity race. Luckily it has been delayed because so many runners signed up. No one was nearby when the bomb exploded. Had the race gone on time many people would have been around the area of the garbage cans where the explosion did take place and there would have been massive injuries. What the intentions of the individual, we dont know at this point. Whether its criminal or terroristic, its obvious it was meant to affect the run. The fbi has taken evidence from both the new york and new jersey education motions for further investigation. Now even though they happened thousands of miles away, San Francisco police are not taking any chances. Late last night they released this statement saying theres no known threats to San Francisco, sfpd has increased uniform presence throughout the city. More developing news. The Islamic State linked media is claiming man who stabbed eight people at a minnesota mall was quote, a soldier of the Islamic State. That attack happened just before 5 30 afternoon our time at the cross roads mall in st. Cloud. Police say an off duty cop shot and killed the suspect. All are expected to survive. Detectives do not have a motive yet for the stabbings but say theres no further threat. The mall still on lock down this morning. St. Cloud is 70 miles north of minneapolis. Oakland mayor helped launch a Multimedia Campaign to fight sex trafficking in the bay area. It comes just two days after the first criminal charges were filed against Police Officers in a wide ranging child prostitution scandal. Abc 7 News Reporter talked with the mayor and he has more. Reporter this is a street music and art festival with an aim to focus attention on sex trafficking in oakland. Its shameful. Oakland is one of the hubs of human sex trafficking. It would be even more shameful to be silent about it. Reporter on friday charges against a former oakland Police Officer and livermore officer were filed by the alemeda district attorney. The mayor focused on the civil claim by the city. We have tremendous compassion for the victim in this case. We will work through the process. This is active litigation so theres not a lot i can say to you about the lawsuit. The organizers of the this event say they are trying to empower residents to take action. Awareness is everything. It allows people to submit anonymous information to the special victims unit. The power of shame and exposure can be just as effective in preventing this type of poor behavior. San Francisco Police on the look out for the person who attacked man with an ax near fishermans. First responders loaded the victim into an ambulance yesterday. The man was hit in the chest. The suspect ran off as the victim made it to a nearby safeway store. It all started as a dispute over a game of cards. Just hours before the start of last nights cal game in berkeley, a two alarm fire put out a lot of smoke downtown. A reporter from texas shared this video. It was taken just after the fire started around 3 45 in the afternoon. It sparked in a courtyard next to the historic mcfarland building. Abc 7 news was there as firefighters worked to get it under control. The theater offices and a vacant copy store are inside. People who live in a fivestory Apartment Building next door were forced to get out. Thick clouds of smoke. I saw it from my sons window as well. I just hurried up and grabbed our things and got out as quickly as possible. The fire was quickly to put out because it had gotten into the walls of the building. Reporter mary bruce. Four people are dead after a charter bus carrying a Junior CollegeFootball Team crashed in North Carolina yesterday afternoon. It happened near rockingham about 70 miles east of charlotte. The Highway Patrol says a front tire blew out causing the bus to swerve and hit a guardrail. The players were from two colleges. 42 people were hurt. Theres concern over the growing number of stoned drivers. Some believe the problem will only get worse if the states Marijuana Initiative passes in november. Giants fan thanks the rehabilitation staff that helped him recover from a near fatal beating outside dodger stadium. Abc 7 news was at the Medical Center in san jose yesterday for the reunion. You might remember back in 2011 he suffered brain damage and other injuries during that vicious attack. He was in a coma for nine months. He had to relearn how to talk and walk. Yesterday he spoke in a clear voice as he thanked the rehab staff and those who still help him every day. My care givers, amazing. They come there at 8 00 or 9 00 a. M. In the morning and help me for two to three hours. First they stretch me. Help me get dressed, shower, bathe. Hes become a public speaker through the bryan stow foundation. He talks to kids about bullying, two or three days a week. We want to go back to our developing news. This is a News Conference with the new York Police Department and the mayor with an update on that explosion in manhattan. Nypd, fdny, folks said how reassured they were by the speedy response last night and the continued police presence. They understand theres an Ongoing Investigation that will take time. They understand there will be disruption in that community. By in large people are getting back to business as usual. We heard a good report on the mta. No damage there. That will be up and running soon at that subway stop. The attitude people took was one of gratitude for our First Responders and a sense they were safe now with the kind of presence that was around them at this point. Now, this was a very serious incident. Its going to take a lot of careful investigation to get to the facts and get to the truth. One of the things well say is were going to be very careful and patient to get to the full truth here. Were not going to jump to conclusions. Were not going to offer you easy answers. Well make sure we have all the facts. We know there was a bombing. That much we do know. We know its a very serious incident. We have a lot more work to do to say what kind of motivation was behind this. Was it a political motivation, a personal motivation. What was it . We do not know that yet. That work must go on. Were going to give you regular updates as we get more information. In terms of those who were affected by this incident, 29 individuals were injured. All have been released from the hospital now. Youll hear more from the commissioner about the response by the fdny and the status of those individuals. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of them for a full recovery. Im pleased to say theyre all out of hospital. I want to say be vigilant. Be vigilant because the police need your help. If you see anything that might be pertinent to this case, we need you to call it in. Youll see a substantial nypd presence this week. Bigger than ever. We would normally have an expanded presence for the United Nations general assembly. Youll see a stronger presence now. New yorkers always tell me how reassured they are by seeing our officers, including our newer unit such as a Critical Response command and the Strategic Command group. Seeing them out in force and seeing them at the scene of obviously key public locations around the United Nations, around time square and a lot of other places. Well armed, well trained. This new unit and the capacity it has are crucial to keeping this city safe. That capacity that we have built it was a crucial part of that effort. It gives us the strongest antiterror capacity in the United States and the city. Now, we know from everything weve seen so far, that this was an intentional act. I want to reaffirm what i said last night. We do not know the motivation. We do not know the nature of it. Thats what we have to do more work on. The agencies continue to look to see if theres any specific connection to the incident in new jersey. At this point we do not have any specific evidence of a connection but that will continue to be considered. Were not taking any options off the table. I want to be very clear about that. All possible theories of whats happened here and how it connects will be looked at. We have no specific evidence at this point in time. Again, we are going to urge all new yorkers to be patient as we get down to the bottom of what happened here. We want to be accurate. The most important thing is give people clear and accurate picture of what happened and to bring to jfrs whoever was involved in this incident. The nypd is using its full capacity to find anyone who is involved and bring them to justice. Use as much time as necessary to make that determination, what that device consist of. Were looking to speak to anyone in the vicinity of either location last night. We put that out last night. As new yorkers usually do, we receive numerous phone calls and each one is being vetted by our detectives. Right now this is the parallel investigation with the nypd and the fbi. This is a device that went off intentionally. If this happened in another city, of course, we would ramp up our security. It happened here so ill ramp up our security even more. We talked about this over the last two years how we foiled 20 plots in new york city. That was done by a very professional, highly trained Law Enforcement agency. This violent criminal act will be solved by those same group of people. Residents can rest assured well get to the bottom of this. Right now were not discounting anything at this point. Right now they are saying they have put an additional 1,000 Law Enforcement personnel on the streets in part because of this but also the u. N. General Assembly Begins meeting this week. They want to have everything in place for that as well. Theyre asking all the residents there to be vigilant. They said they do not know the motivation. It was intentional. They are not ruling anything out as the fbi, police and other agencies investigate. Happening today, six miles of san jose street will be shut down today for the Second Annual viva calle celebration. There will be live music, dancing, food and vendors all along the streets. The department of transportation is donating 500 bike helmets for kids. The celebration runs from 10 00 until 3 00.
