gunned down - unprovoked - in the line of duty last week. flags will stay at hald staff until sunset tuesday. later this morning - sergeant beminio will be laid to rest. his funeral will be held at 11 at lutheran church of hope in west des moines. he will be buried at glendale cete des moines. the visitation for officer martin is being held tonight from 4 to eight at a school in rockwell city. his funeral is scheduled for 11-40 tomorrow morning. 11-40 was officer martin's badge number. the urbandale police department is now retiring that number. many people have been asking cbs 2 how they can help.there ?is a way you can support the families of the fallen officers. the des moines police officers union has set up a website to take donations. amount that you wish.just go to our website for a link to the memorial page. we're learning more about the cedar rapids police officer accused of shooting jerime mitchell last week. officer lucas jones involved in another shooting almost exactly a year earlier.he and another officer shot and killed jonathan gossman last october. gossman was trying to run away and started shooting at the officers - that's when they returned fire hitting gossman officer jones was cleared is now being investigated by the d-c-i for shooting jerime mitchell. around one a-m last tuesday - officer jones pulled jerime mitchell over. he says mitchell started fighting with him - (j.t. ricketson, gbi special agent ) "they get out. they walk maybe 10, 15 yards or so. and they came under fire. they were both struck and they went down right there." there."the officers returned fire and hit the suspect - taken into custody and is being treated for a gunshot wound. police say the man accused of chaining up a woman in a metal crate for two months-- is really a serial killer. killer.45-year-old todd cole- hepp was being interviewed about the kidnapping of kay-la brown when authorities say he confessed to four other cold case murders. back in 2003 - chris sherbert - scott ponder - brian lucas and beverly guy were killed at a motorcycle repair shop. police say cole-hepp was committed the murders. the victim's families say as horrible as this all is - 13 years later - they're thankful to know what happened. (tom lucas/ father of brian lucas) "this is the first time in 13 years that i've been able to tell you i have a bit of optimism, a little bit of hope."(joel riddle/ victim's brother) "i went to his grave on our way home from woodruff a moment ago... and it was closure finally." discovered the body of a man - today is the last day to cast your ballot absentee. on saturda went to the linn county auditors office to take advantage of early voting. county officials say if you have an absentee ballot and haven't mailed it in - you can simply walk it in to the auditor's office before polls close. both auditors offices in cedar rapids and iowa city will be open for absentee voting today. in cedar rapids, you can vote from eight to five.iowa city voting is from seven-45 to five-30. if you're waiting for election these important decisions -
