Two Cedar Rapids Police officers officersare now cleared in the shooting death of markell bivin. Bivins. Last month officers responded to a domestic disturbance at the valley high when they got there they found a 25yearold woman with stab wounds struggling with bivins. The Iowa Division of criminal investigation determined that bivins ignored the officers orders to drop a knife. The Attorney Generals Office says bivins left the officers no choice but to use deadly force. The Linn County Sheriffs Office is now looking to buy body cameras for dozens of Law Enforcement officers. Officers. The county wants to buy 65 body cameras for just under 120thousand dollars. With current patrol car dash cameras. Video would automatically upload when deputies arrive at the station. Hurricane matthew has killed more people in the southeastern part of the united states. States. The powerful storm killed at least 36 people when flood waters kept rising. Some rivers in north havent crested rising almost two feet higher than normal. The rivers arent supposed to crest until this weekend so it might be several days until many of the flood waters start to recede. That means the thousands of people that have been displaced will be out of their homes longer. In florida a federal judge is extending the Voter Registration deadline because of Hurricane Matthew. The new deadline is now next tuesday. The Florida Democratic party and other groups like Hillary Clintons campaign argued that extended voter because of the effects of the storm. Last week republican governor rick scott said he didnt intend to make changes to the deadline saying that people have had time to register.
