The Company Recently acquired the beaver building in downtown cedar rapids. This comes after plans for the wild rose casino were announced last month. The new casino would be built on the land where the current skohgman building sits. A Company Working with wild rose bought that building for onepointfivemilliondollars. The iowa racing and Gaming Commission still needs to venue. The university of iowas visual Arts Building is Getting National attention for its architecture. Architecture. The new building cost the university 77 Million Dollars to build. It took more than a year to finish after previous building was damaged in the floods of oheight. The finished product comes with five floors and nine galleries and has unique spaces for students and staff. The Studio Division coordinator says light was a critical part of the architecture. The light that comes through this buil for its performance and art students education. Light comes in through the center it comes through the outer part of the building and the quality of light that students are working with is important especially when theyre working with clay. Clay. There are about sixteen hundred students who will use the building. Next week theyll have a student expedition where each of their works will be displayed in rotation. When the eastern iowa honor flight stopped by central city schools to receive a donation. The elementary middle and high schools competed against each other to raise money to support the organization. Whoever raised the most money won. The losing schools principal was ducttaped to a wall during lunch. To have fun with kids in school is important and you focus on academics but theres also the part where we get to make a difference and things that are bigger than us. So im more than happy to its fun for the kids, its fun for the community and we raise money for a good cause. The eastern iowa honor flight is a Nonprofit Organization that helps veterans take trips to national war memorials. The schools raised 19hundred dollars.
