Breaking news this morning in new york city a massive Apartment Fire on the citys Upper East Side has killed one person. At least three others were hurt. That includes two firefighters. The flames have been put out, but firefighters are still working to put out any hot spots to make sure it does not reignite. Right now two italian towns are cleaning up this morning after two strong earthquakes hit just hours apart last night. One quake registered as a 5. 4, while the other was a 6. 1. There are no reports of serious injuries, but one man in a brought on by the earthquake. In august nearly 300 people were killed by quakes in central italy. And developing right now, a former teacher turned stripper now faces a felony charge of sexual exploitation. Cbs 2 News Reporter dora miller has the latest developments on the story. Reporter mary beth hagland will have to enter a plea again for a more serious felony shes now charged with, a process familiar to the former subs according to court documents, investigators found new evidence that directly impacts her charge. So i think its important that when you vote on something you dont come back to iowa and act like it was just ideas and just kind of like a workaround session. Right now both Major Party Candidates are targeting states where early voting like that is under way, and now donald trump is mirroring Hillary Clinton, planning a last minute stop to the city of five seasons. If the outcome of the election doesnt move in his favor, one man seems to joke trump should run against governor branstad next election. Radio host garrison keeler has been publishing pieces throughout the season, but his most recent talker piece claims that trump should become governor of iowa. Keeler outlines a list of cleaning the rivers, preventing Chinese Investment and deporting migrant workers. An iowa church now dropped a lawsuit on the transgender bathroom issue. The Fort Des Moines church of christ sued the city of des moines over the law, saying it violated their religious freedom rights. This Iowa Civil Rights Commission says its never churches and says that theyre usually exempt. The church then decided to drop that suit all together. Right now a social conservative group is pushing to change this election season. Cbs news statehouse reporter steffey lee explains the battle over the future of three state Supreme Court justices. Reporter designed like an election ballot, you may have seen these big black yard signs calling to remove justices were asking the voters to turn the ballot over and vote no on the three iowa Supreme Court justices. Reporter social conservative group the family leader was one of the main forces driving out three justices after the unanimous 2009 decision on samesex marriage in iowa. This year theyre urging eye juans to think eyeoans to think back to that ruling, as well as the courts 2015 decision to strike down the telemedicine abortion ban. These three justices are a not honor and respect the constitutional limits to their own power. Thats why they need to go. Reporter the Iowa State Bar Association says these justices have made every decision based on the law and by voting yes to retain them, it ensures that politics wont get into iowas courts. Is the 1 , 88 , 91 reporter chair of the fair to partial Courts Committee guy cook points out that these Supreme Court justices all received high marks from iowa lawyers on their scwrucialt Judicial Performance evaluations. Theyre asked to rate the judges on their temperment, their knowledge of the law, how they treat people, fairness of their rulings. Reporter the Iowa State Bar Association lawrvelged a website where launched a website where voters can access these reviews. They also put up vote yes sign, pressing eye juans to help eyeoans to help maintain fair and impartial courts. Their message is that the makeup of iowas courts should never be driven by politics, the people who know these judges best, the lawyers who appear before them have said theyre all worthy of retention.
