sioux city, trump pushed back this time labeling cruz dishonest and deceptive for sending out this flyer. >> voter violation, it's like an official document being sent to people in iowa, that is really terrible. it's a fraud, as far as i'm concerned. >> reporter: forecasts here in iowa are calling for snow in parts of the state beginning tonight, which could have an impact on voter turnout. volunteers for both bernie sanders and hillary clinton knocked on doors and made calls late into the night, as the two candidates made their closing arguments. >> we have a radical idea. together, we will create an economy that works for all of us, not just the 1%. >> i will stand up and fight for you every location of this campaign and then when we win, i will fight for you in the white house! >> so we can choose who is going to run for president. >> reporter: but outside the state they see it confusing. think of it as a get-together with your neighbors. every precinct has its own caucus and which precinct you belong to depends on your home address. at republican caucuses? tuition tax deductible. >> reporter: someone speaks on each candidate and then participants cast a secret ballot. but for democrats, it's more complicated. voters separate into groups, depending on which candidate they support. any candidate who doesn't hit around 15% in that precinct is eliminated. their supporters are then free to move to the other camp. >> this is about standing with your neighbor, transparency, and being committed, not just to the process, but to your candidate. >> reporter: the iowa caucuses started in 1972 and the old-school process hasn't changed much, but this year, it's going high tech. >> application does the math in the background. >> reporter: each precinct will report results with this new app winners. >> what did you think of this whole process?
