Cedar rapids man will spend several decades behind bars after a hotel stabbing. This morning, Michael Lehman was sentenced to 50 years in prison. In november, lehman fatally stabbed 23yearold Jimmy John Lee Lynch in the sed grove motel in cedar rapids. The two got into an argument before the stabbing. Lehman will have to serve at least 35 years before becoming eligible for parole. A jury has convicted a cedar rapids man of slamming into two Police Patrol cars in northern iowa. Authorities say 29yearold Trenton Mccleary was driving a stolen car on december 14 when he led deputies on a highspeed chase on i35. The chase ended when he drove into a ditch after hitting the two squad cars. Mccleary will be sentenced next month. Right now in dubuque, the parents of a toddler who shot himself say they are not guilty of child endangerment. On january 3, Police Responded to a home on main street. Officers found 3yearold Jeremiah Horsley with a gunshot wound to the face. According to court documents, 29yearold Willy Horsley initially told police the boy was cut by a piece of glass. Were playing with a gun when the 3yearold shot himself. Horsley faces state and federal child endangerment charges. Harris is charged with child endangerment resulting in serious injury and neglect. Both are also charged with drug possession and having weapons while being barred. New tonight at 6 00, the states highest court says stun guns are dangerous weapons. Conviction of a woman charged with carrying a dangerous weapon. Taquala howse was arrested for theft at the waterloo walmart in 2013. Police found the device in her purse when she was arrested. She claimed her small handheld device wasnt dangerous because it didnt work when police tested. An appeal court agreed with her last year. The Supreme Court says stun guns fall under the iowa code of a dangerous weapon even it its inoperable. The first major legislative hurdle has now arrived for iowa lawmakers. After months of pushing to keep the head of the agriculture business in the state, dupont and dow announced today they are putting their headquarters in delaware. The company says it will keep a presence in johnston, iowa where Dupont Pioneer is located. Executives say the announcement will not result in job cuts in the state. Chief meteorologist terry swails is here to tell us when these strong winds will die down. Strong winds are still possible for the next couple of hours but they are starting to wind down. Wind gusts topped out at 63 Miles Per Hour with sustained winds near 40 miles an hour. That kept highs in the south near 60 and in the north in the 40s. Temperatures tonight will fall into the 30s across the area. Well lose the winds through the night and keep the mild temperatures through the weekend. Temperatures will increase into the 50s tomorrow with a light breeze. Temperatures will be slightly hour. As we go through the night and especially tomorrow morning, winds will get less and less. M. , the winds are down to 18 miles an hour. Then finally later tomorrow afternoon, most of our winds in the range of 10 to 15 Miles Per Hour. So much, much less on the winds as we get into tomorrow. And the other nice thing about tomorrow will be the that should be up in the 50s. So you take out the wind, throw in the sunshine and toss in temperatures that will be up around 50 to 55, we should have ourselves a Beautiful Day of weather all across eastern iowa tomorrow. This is the weather system that came across the midwest today gradient that brought us the winds. Behind this, weve got a westerly flow coming across the country, so well still be dealing with pacific air as we go through the next 24 hours. But eventually our storm track will start to turn in from the northwest here as we get into early next week. That will start a cooling trend that will get our temperatures back below normal by the end of next week. But overall, still a very dry weather pattern. Not seeing any rain or snow in the forecast now of any consequence anyway, all the way through wednesday of next week. Tonights forecast does call for the winds to back off.
