place for handling threats at the iowa city school district.the changes come following an alleged threat at west high earlier this month.that resulted in six-hundred students skipping class for the day.staff will now determine the level of the threat, and if necessary, report it directly to police, parents and the community.the district tells cbs 2 news, 28- threats were made against 18 school buildings in six days. in cedar rapids,city leaders "the consequences that come from using weapons and guns and stuff to solve problems, they're not good ones. nothing good can come from using a gun or using any type of weapon." weapon."this morning, a victim of violence spoke at washington highschool alongside the u-s district attorney and police chief wayne jerman. the day is part of a larger effort to stop gun violence in our communities. two cedar rapids police officers are now paid leave, after shooting and killing a suspect. it happened at about 10-30 last night on ravenwood terrace northwest. chief wayne jerman tells cbs 2 news, it started with a routine traffic stop.he says 21-year-old jonathan gossman took off running through the neighborhood and pulled out a gun. that's when the officers following gossman shot and killed him. the iowa d-c-i is now handling the investigation. cbs 2 news has the latest information on a officer killed in new york city. city.investigators say a career criminal is the man who shot and killed n-y-p-d officer randolph holder last night.tyrone howard shot holder in the head, when officers responded to a shots fired call.howard is no stranger to police, being arrested 28 times and wanted for several shootings.holder is the fourth n-y-p-d officer to be killed in the line of duty this year, and the 31st killed nationwide. lawyers for a baltimore police officer being tried in the death of freddie gray, are calling for jurors to be fully sequestered.attorneys for the officer want jurors to have no access to cell phones, limited television access and only supervised visits with friends and family.gray was arrested in april, loaded into a police van and hurt.he died of a spinal cord injury a week later.gray's death sparked violent riots in the city.six officers now face criminal charges.all say they are not guilty. happening right now, saint louis police are searching for whoever is behind a series of church fires near ferguson. ferguson.since october eighth, *six* churches in predominantly black neighborhoods have been set on fire.in each case, an accelerant was used to light the front doors of the buildings. no
