"in understanding all these consequences do you wish to plead guilty to the four counts that we talked about? yes." and with that, 25- year old tionne bloodsaw of des moines took a plea deal connected to the death of her five year old daughter. last year, little jayda canada died after ingesting morphine at her mother's apartment. police also found crack and guns in the home. today bloodsaw admitted to a judge that she knew about the drugs...and the dangers they posed to her children. "so there was drug dealing or drug manufacturing in the residence, is that correct? yes. and by engaging in that drug activity in the residence do you agree that knowingly or recklessly exposed jayda to a hazard or a danger to which she could not protect herself? yes."bloodsaw pleaded guilty to child endangerment, manufacturing a controlled substance and two counts of neglect of a dependent person..in this case her one and five year old children. had she been convicted during a trial...she could have faced life in prison. "there was guns found which sentences. so the number of years just kept ratcheting up and could have if she was convicted of all charges."bloodsaw had planned to testify against her former boyfriend, deshaun trombone. he was sentenced to 65-years in prison as part of a plea deal he reached death. bloodsaw remained quiet through much of today's hearing... "is there anything you would with her attorney, bloodsaw simply said "no"the judge did remind bloodsaw...this is not a life sentence...and she still has time to turn her life around. "you're a young woman and you've accepted responsibility which is very important for me when someone does that. and you still have opportunities ahead of you. because you're not going to be in prison the rest although bloodsaw was sentenced to 40-years in prison...ten years for each of the four counts she plead guilty to...under the terms of her plea deal she will be eligible for parole in just 18-months. des moines police are looking for the gunman in a deadly shooting over the weekend... outside of a nightclub. when you have a large group involved everybody is scattering out of there, it's almost impossible to detain and gather statements in situations like that." 20-year old dashawn smith was shot outside evolution night club on northwest 6th drive early sunday morning. he later died at the hospital. three other people were hurt. witnesses say there was a fight outside the club before the gunfire. anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call county crimestoppers a north high school student has been charged in connection to moines... going to elementary with him he anything like that classmates are coming to grips charged with first degree murder... police say 17-year old josue socop and 28-year old jose lopez... got into a verbal argument friday night... near the intersection of 13th and jefferson avenue. police say it escalated and lead to gunfire. lopez died in that shooting. socop was arrested on saturday and charged with first degree murder in the case. his bond is set at 500-thousand dollars. an arrest has also been made in a deadly shooting in waukee. according to police... 41-year-old gino t and killed outside his house just after midnight on saturday. risola's wife told police that a family acquaintance named brendan mcguinness fired four or five shots, then took off in her husband's car. how you do that to someone who has a family and who is so kind and so loving 15 and we live in such a nice neighborhood and a safe area. great family it's crazy 05 mcguinness is being held on a one million dollar cash only murder charge. the des moines police department will be getting a few tasers replaced the city council approved spending 82 thousand dollars to buy 60 tasers from a st. louis company. the current tasers the police department uses are six to eight years old and out of warranty. parts for it are no longer available. the chief says this isn't an expansion of their program but merely replacing vital equipment. 07:58:26--45 'its important to the police department to equip our officers properly, particularly with that less lethal option, taser, in those situations where deadly force may not be the best option, to have that less lethal alternative, is very important for the safety of our officers and the community. the chief says in an ideal world, every uniformed officer in their patrol section would be equipped with a taser, but fiscally speaking that can't happen right now. this move will mean about two thirds of today... a town hall meeting offered an opportunity for veterans, their families and the public to talk directly with leaders at the v-a hospital in des moines. the v-a system has been plagued with large back-logs and long delays for care. just last week, the secretary of veterans affairs acknowledged the massive health care system is struggling to keep up with demand... however.. v-a leaders say.. progress is being made.. here in des moines... officials say.. wait times have decreased.. and the hospital continues to rank as one of the best v-a hospitals in the country.. today... one vietnam veteran, who suffers from post traumatic stress, thanked the v-a for its service to him.. dan gannon @ 28:25- my personal experience with the va hospital has been nothing but great. saved my life about 11 years ago and i think they take care of veterans in a special, special way. 28:35 also today... a nurse at the v-a was honored... for saving the life of a veteran who collapsed during an event at the gold star museum in july.. he didn't have a pulse.. when nicole aldrich used both c-p-r and an a-e-d to revive him. in return, today, he gave her his p-o-w m-i-a events are being held at v-a facilities across the country day on wednesday. the waukee school board got a look at a new boundary proposal tonight. so did parents... there was a full house at the school board meeting for the presentation. a committee has worked for eight months to create the new boundaries in preparation for the opening of grant ragan elementary school. before the plan was revealed, the school board heard from the public. parents were vocal about their concerns over the impact on their children. 08:38:32--53 'my son, whos currently in first grade, will be in three schools by the time hes in fourth grade and theres an overwhelming body of research, as the glen village talked about, that suggest s children switch schools is not good for their learning. it sets put the children to bed. we were down in southern iowa on the farm. and my middle daughter came out and said, daddy, i dont want you to go. 9:18- there was a lot of taking of lives. but it was pretty special to save someones life. 9:24 something he was called to do many times.. in the fall-out of enemy fire.. 30:10- they shot two little girls. just gut shot them. they were still alive but in bad shape. had to get them out anyway possible. it was rainy and nasty. we had the ability, so took the chances and got to them and got them back to asdljfdkj . doctor that was with us spend the night the school president -- to resign -- amid a climate of racial tension. james rosen shows us what happened. wolfe says: 'please, please use this resignation to heal, not to hate, as we move forward today for a brighter tomorrow.' invoking scripture and taking full responsibility for the quote-unquote 'inaction that has occurred' on his campus following reports of racial intimidation... university of missouri president tim wolfe buckled under mounting pressure and resigned as head of the largest university in the show-me state, academic home to some 35-thousand students. members of #concernedstudent 1-9-50, the activist group that draws its name from the first year when blacks were admitted to mizzou and which had campaigned for wolfe's ouster... welcomed it as a 'glimmer of hope'... but declared their work against, quote, 'systems of oppression in...patriarchal white male institutions' is far from over. tk: concernedstudent1 950 demands an immediate meeting with um system faculty counsel, board of curators, and the governor of the state of missouri to create a system of holistic inclusion for all constituents. wolfe's fall was swift and dramatic, inconceivable before september, when reports of racial harassment at mizzou began to surface. over a month ago, the school announced diversity and inclusion training for all faculty, staff and students. over the weekend, however, nearly three-dozen black players on mizzou's division-one football team vowed to boycott their games until wolfe was gone. and now that he is, the players have returned to practice. williams says: 'missouri is the home of ferguson. and so what you have to understand is...the level of racial unrest in the state and especially among young people, in specific young black people in the state, is at a high level, maybe a high-water mark in terms of history.' hours after wolfe announced his resignation, university chancellor r. bowen loftin announced his resignation as well. medical marijuana is now legal to buy in illinois... sales began today at eight licensed dispensaries. around 33-hundred patients have state- issued i-d cards to buy medical cannabis. to get a card, patients need proof from a doctor that they have one of about 40 qualifying conditions. they also get fingerprinted and submit to a criminal background check. people lined up at one dispensary today.. hoping a new medicine can ease their illnesses... people just think that we are in it for pot. it's not. this is our chance, our hope, our life. and if this will keep me from taking 27 pills a day, i would hug the owner. illinois has databases to track how much cannabis patients are buying. the legal limit is two and a half ounces every two weeks. illinois is among 23 states with medical marijuana programs. a six year old shot and killed by two officers last week, was laid to rest today. jeremy mardis, a first grader, was shot to death in the front seat of his dad's car by two louisiana city marshals. his dad, chris few was also wounded in the shooting and is still in the hospital. state police say they did not find a gun in few's car... and are not sure why the officers pursued him. both marshals, norris greenhouse junior and derrick stafford, are charged with second-degree murder and attempted murder. today a judge set the bond at one million dollars each... sheriff doug anderson says it's been a tough time for the community. anderson says: 'naturally it's shaken the community a lot. this is a small community, everybody know everybody it''s a tragic situation and everybody is paying the price.' the officers were also ordered to surrender their badges and firearms. an investigation is underway into a deadly attack at a police training facility in jordan. the white house says two u-s were among several international military trainers killed when a jordanian police officer opened americans were among the people wounded. gunman who was dressed in a military uniform. the does not get nuclear weapons.
