An osage man who kidnapped and beat a woman will spend the rest of his life in prison. A jury convicted 23 yearold Nicholas Lenz on friday. The mason city Globe Gazette reports lenz was yelling obscenities at his victim and police after the guilty verdict was held the woman prisoner for two days. He also taped her to a chair, punched and kicked her, and also threatened her with a gun. Lenz will be formally sentenced in december. Dubuque police are releasing more details on a rescue at a mineshaft. We first told you about this yesterday morning. The shaft is off of north rescue teams entered the through a storm drain and found the pair. Police say 23yearold madeleine fiksdal, was injured from the fall. She was carried out and taken to a local hospital. 28 year old dallas blake of st. Paul, minnesota was arrested for trespassing. During the rescue, two Police Officers also became stuck. The Dubuque Fire Department got them out. Two charles city people are dead after a crash in northern iowa. The iowa state patrol says a pickup and a car highway 18 around 5 00 on friday night. A crash report says 75yearold Marilyn Wulff didnt stop at a stop sign and was hit by the pickup driving down the highway. Helicopters took wulff and her 14yearold passenger, jaden wulff, to a mason City Hospital where they were pronounced dead. The pickup driver was not hurt. Another crash seriously injured at least one in linn county on saturday afternoon. Two vehicles collided near the police say renetra maxwells suv ran a stop sign, hitting david hagens minivan. The cedar rapids man was flown to the university of iowa for treatment. Maxwell whos from nashville and her passengers were treated at the scene. The university of iowa issued its third campus alert for sexual misconduct, this fall. Ui Public Safety said a Sexual Assault happened around two yesterday morning. Hes described as an about six foot tall male, older than college age. The ui also says an active shooter threat reported at a campus dorm yesterday afternoon. Was all a joke. The student called his friend had been joking. Police questioned both students, but authorities have not made any arrests. This site at Rockwell Collins collects 20 to 30 thousand pounds alone. Organizers say this a great way to help people in scouts. 55 a big part of scouting is Community Service for the boys and teaching them how to be a better citizen and apart of the community.
