Kcrgtv9s Katie Wiedemann joins us from the Dubuque Police department. Katie, what do the people filing the suit say actually happened that day . According to the lawsuit, several people at the scene say the first officer to respond, jay murray, the face without warning them. The suit claims murray also sprayed tina dean, who was 8 months pregnant, directly in the face. Dean claims she did nothing to warrant that use of force. According to police reports, murray was attempting to arrest a 12 year old boy in the crowd. Thats when police say the crowd then reencircled murray. Police say murray pulled out his pepper spray and sprayed it in a half circle motion towards the crowd. The attorney in this case told me today, theres a real problem with police in dubuque and the city isnt recognizing it. But one says after doing yoga for awhile she started noticing some benefits. It like calms me down if im frustrated ive had kids tell me when theyre in their rooms at night they use this to fall asleep. Instructor ordman teaches whats called trauma informed yoga. What that means is more of an emphasis on breathing control, stress relief techniques and emotional calming and less on the more exotic yoga positions.
