Well tell you how the two initiatives are related in todays agribusiness report. Whereas you ramp this up over determine where the best use of resources are. Governor terry funding for couple decades more of educational resource money. Good morning. This is the agribusiness report. Im david geiger. It was in discussions for several months but last week the governor announced a proposal hes working on that would fund both education and Water Quality until the mid 21st century. Branstad says the nutrient reduction strategy is good. But the problem was a lack of reliable funding. In 2008 the governor and Iowa Congress passed a 20 year sales tax that would go to School Infrastructure on a per student basis. The governor 20 years. Guaranteeing the first 10 Million Dollars of using an average two point eight five percent annual any ongoing, permanent source of funding for the nutrient reduction strategy. It would source pollution as well as nonpoint. It would generate 20. 7 billion dollars for schools over this period of time. And just under 4. 7 billion for Water Quality. The Water Quality funding would start out small, but grow to be much larger. Governor branstad says people working together in agriculture business and eduction to get it through. Its a big bold plan, its probably the boldest thing ive ever recommended as governor. You know, to deal Water Quality, and to do it without still just a change as more input is put in. The Iowa Legislature would have to pass the extension of funding. By the sales tax. Feeder cattle saw a sharp live cattle and hogs moving down and up. The grain markets are in a sideways movement after the Macro Economy problems throughout last week. Theyre looking at the grains report tomorrow. Well, weve had a little bit of interaction with the investment class as the gyrations have happened over in the stock market. Typically theres an inverse correlation. Between commodities and equities so when the stock markets selling off we can get a little more interest in parking some money in commodities thats helped us to a degree this week but the main thing is positioning for the usda reports on tuesday. The market was overbought and yesterday the longs kind of made a statement. They exited, sold with both hands as it were, my argument has been that weve seen the bulk of the rally in the cattle. We need higher cutouts to do that. To do more. And we need the hogs to cooperate. In other words, hog markets are kind of the key here. So see you again next time.
