It was another great year for us agricultural exports as a whole. But one commodity is suffering, with another and competition. Good morning this is the david geiger. For six years now. Us agriculture exports have been very good. At the end of fiscal year 2015 they were 139. 7 billion dollars. Down a little from last year but still the of ag exports in history for the u. S. The Us Foreign Agricultural Service says collecting data on exports are important because 95 percent of the worlds population lives outside the us. Theres a growing world middle class. And there will be an estimated nine point six billion people by 2050. Looking down the road finding ways to improve exports could help. Years and years ago, exports werent as big a part of American Farm income as they are right now. Now they represent on average 20 percent of u. S. Farm income. Every other row of soybeans grown in this country is exported. One day worth of every weeks dairy production is exported. So its important for us to have this data at our fingertips. But not all commodities are seeing better deals. Us soybean exports for this marketing year are forecast down from last year. Because of more competition with brazil. According to the Usda Economic Research service. Soybean production there is expected to hit a record hundred Million Metric Tons this year. In the past. Us soybean exports peak between september and december. While brazils is in march and june. But the record production is extending its sales. Putting them into direct competition with the u. S. Thats ended up in a nearly 20 percent decline in u. S. Soybean exports through october 2015 compared to the previous year. It was a sideways market last week in grains. A large part of that is the strong us dollar. Which doesnt look to be slowing down any time soon. I think the dollar probably surges to par before that payroll fed meets. Weve got this argentine election, both the incumbent and to drastically change, or at least begin to change farm policy down there, that would be more friendly toward argentine farmers. The trade thinks that could potentially lead to some, maybe an initial waterfall of sales. And if that were to happen in a big way, we could see beans trade on next level here. Well, i mean the live cattle, the fats have kind of chopped around and steadied. I think what it comes down to is this is theoretically the shortest period here of supply and weve got some disruptions. But also some concern at retail that demand is not all that strong. I do think that over in hogs that we seasonally, we begin to move higher. We put in contract lows last week. Built above those. Weve stabilized and now were seeing some cutout values move higher. Thats probably opening the door to a ten dollar move here. Certainly a five dollar move. Yesterday. The fda approved the first genetically engineered animal. A salmon. For human consumption. Then they denied a petition from the center for food safety. Asking for mandatory labeling of food with gm ingredients. The fda associate commissioner for policy leslie kux says the petition does not give enough basis for turning from the 1992 policy. It also doesnt show that foods are different from foods without the engineering. The fda says voluntary labeling is always allowed. And that wraps up our show for today. Thanks for joining. Ill see you again tomorrow. Well post a video every day in the agribusiness section of kcrg. Com. Youll find it under the news tab. Im david geiger with the agribusiness report. You can really change your curl just by changing your angle or just rotating a little bit more. Its helping one busy College Student stay stylin. I used to use a straightener to curl my hair, and it would take me about 25 to 30 minutes. And with like school and trying to get on time for everything, 30 minutes doesnt work all the time and this takes 8 minutes. Jacynda, along with several members of her family run their business my brothers and my husband that are willing to try through everything. Gold plated titanium plates heat to 400 degrees. And this creator is all about hands on interaction with her customers. Weve thought about going into stores and met with stores but were afraid that then it loses our touch with the consumer. So weve been staying internet based so we can treat our clients the way they want to be treated. The company, which shipped its first irons just last christmas time, is now also selling brushes. Ive been working on a lot of things in that i have a unique perspective in that ive been dealing with this amount of hair my whole life. Hair products are next on her list. Followed by selling worldwide. Were getting geared up to go overseas and breakout into other countries. We are patented worldwide. Great look less tyme. Made in eastern iowa.
