Right now, Elementary School students start classes at 8 5 am every day. Junior high and high School Students begin at 8 am. This years Bell Schedule is different from last years. Elementary students began a little earlier, and junior high and high School Students began a little later. Some parents say the change means the day is too long and too late for elementary students. And having high School Students wake up earlier goes against policy recommendations from the American Academy of pediatrics. The group says adolescents are less llkely to fall asleep p efore 11 pm. It also says teenagers need at least eight and a half hours of sleep, so the start time should be 8 30 or later. Thats research one board member wants to revisit. And police in russia made a surprise discovery, when they pulled over a speeding hearse. Well tell you about the blackmarket connection, after the break. Good morning this is the good morning this is the agribusiness report. Im david geiger. This year was favorable for farmer gordon wassenaar. On monday. He finished up his harvest. But after all the crop is gone. Farmers have other worries. Soil and nutrient retention. Harvest has went very well, had very few rainouts. We went pretty much straight through the beans, then the corn. The corns been dry in the fields, weve had very little field loss. This is wassenaars 62 crop. Now done. But his job isnt done. Hes working on ways to save his soil. We went to notill over 20 years ago and five years ago we just started to try cover crops. We did it primarily for the erosion and now with the new Water Quality issues. It comes in, it really works. It helps keep the nutrients in the soil. Now hes an advocate for cover crops. Ad works with his local Soil Conservation service to experiment. Were standing in a test plot, now, that were doing with the jasper of them were seeded by hand early. Nd then, and then part of them with a little drill. A plane also applied seed to this field. The idea of the plot was to demonstrate different ways of planting cover crops. And different varieties like radishes, clover, and cereal rye. Wassenaars experience shows off what conservation practices can do. I dont know of anything that if youre farmiig row crops that will do any more to save soil than no till and a cover crop combination. And thats important now that the crops are in the bins. Youve just finished your last couple rows of corn, how does it feel to be done this season . It always feels good to be done, especially in nice weather. Wassenaar says all his land is seeded with cover crops. Except for 15 acres. Which hes using as a check plot. Great weather conditions have harvest of the five year average. Corn is 72 percent harvested. And beans are 92 percent done. And the markets are still taking it in. We did see a nice rally in corn yesterday. Most though it was a spillover off the wheat complex, kind of turnaround tuesday with corn as we wind down with harvest. Still big supplies overhanging the complex still excess grain being sold at market providing bearishness too. But we are back better today despite lower energies. Weve kind of been falling in the crude market and crudes down over a buck today. But were still being supported very wel off of demand. China is back in the market and also too, harvest is just about done. Were a little bit bearish short term here. Still got a hangover from whos report on beef, pork, some products there. That overhanging the market as well with cash trade last week. Looks like the futures are think were supported off of todays lows were at right now as long as cash holds in. We did see a lot of call buying in hogs late last week. That now playing through here today or yesterday eve at all. Still supplies yet have selling rallies, been telling you guys for a couple weeks now, in the First Quarter of next year. Taking advantage of that. And thats all we have for the show today. Thanks for joining us. Ill see you tomorrow. Well post a video every day in the agribusiness section of kcrg. Com. Youll find it under the news tab. Im david geiger with the agribusineses report.
