The school lost a lot of students after the flood. Enrollment numbers were so low that in 2012 the district considered closing the school. But new housing has gone up in the neighborhood. And this School Year Enrollment was 23 students higher than administrators expected. So two months into the school year they had to add another 50 05, its good to be a growing district enrollment numbers increasing is always a positive thing and thats what were seeing this year specially at harrison were seeing some nice numbers at our elementary which will stay with us at middle school and high school in 2008, more than half of the students at harrison lived in homes that flooded. The Des Moines School district recently purchased two busses with seat belts. The district recommendation from the national Highway Traffic Safety Administration , which said the seat belts would make busses safer.
