construction workers was near that area at the time. the cedar rapids school district responded to the findings by saying the district is not aware of anyone who has tested positive for asbestos as a result of their presence on the job site. today, we reached out to abatement specialties, the company the investigation named, and we tried to contact others who had been workingt the site. they failed to return our call declined to comment. kcrg t-v nine's jill kasparie joins us with more of the story tonight. jill, you talked with another asbestos removal company thal's unreled to this investigation. whatatid they sayaybout the process? we spoke to a company based in waterloo. advanced environmental testing and abatement incorporated mostly does asbestos rereval. they say taking the proper precautions when removing asbestos is vital. michael poe says his company gets calls just about every day to do asbestos removal. "w% have been going since 1989 and we are busy every day " it's a big job that requires a lot of precautions and a lot of equipment. 20:46:17 the hepa is in here which stops 99.9999997 percent of all particles they need it all because you can find asbestos in a lot items. "over 3,000 items - it has been used, mostly what you are familiar with is pipe insulation, pipe wrap, elbows on a pipe, like on a heating system, floor tile, roofing materials." poe says asbestos doesn't become an issue until renovation or demolition projects come about. his team is one of the first on the scene -- testing items to find out where it's at. " it's very important to make sure we are leaving a clean area after we leave so people goingngack into the area are not getting exposed.
