"ever since pres. obama and the democrat-led congress passed the law six years ago, that law's failures have been piling up " price has helped write plans to replace obamacare. the most recent bill includes tax credits for buying private policies and putting money in health savings accounts. trump is still meeting with contenders for secretary of state. in a tv-9 follow-up this morning.. cedar rapids police have vehicle crashed into a police s-u-v on i-380. they were martrell watson and kaitlyn hall- stougard . watson, who was the driver, was 21, and hall- stougard was 22. both were from cedar rapids. police were handling another crash on i-380 southbound near first avenue early saturday morning. that's when watson lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the passenger side and back of the police cruiser. he and his passenger died at the scene. two officers in the car were also injured, but the state fire marshal says the cause of the thanksgiving day fire in central city may never be clear. crews say the fire started about 8 a-m thursday at the iowa gold distributing recycling business. the fire destroyed 2 of the business's buildings and caused some air quality concerns. the state fire marshal's office says the fire started in a building on the west side of the facility.. investigators say they can't figure out what started it cedar rapids substitute teacher mary beth haglin is guilty of sexually exploiting a student last school year. haglin, who is 24, chose to have a bench trial instead of a jury trial. a judge will base his decision strictly on information prosecutors have already filed. because of that, the charge against her for having sex with a 17 year old is an aggravated misdemeanor, not a felony. the maximum penalty is two years in prison. the judge has promised to make a ruling in about a month. students at ohio state university will go back investigators figure out why a student attacked several people. authorities say 11 people were hurt when a student drove his car into a group of people on the university's campus yesterday. he then got out and began stabbing people with a butcher knife. a campus police officer shot and killed the student. police are now investigating whether it was a terrorist attack. a new industrial park in cedar rapids could bring major companies and new jobs to the area. alliant energy announced plans near edgewood road and 76th avenue sw, north of the eastern iowa airport. alliant says the 1,300 acres will make it the largest industrial park in the state. the eventual plan is to help iowa compete with other states for large scale businesses. alliant says instead of buying the land, it reached deals with the property owners. "those landowners continue to own the land at this time. they will continue to farm the land, and people will continue to live in some of the houses that are on those acreages at this time. but under the circumstances that a business will come along and developing that land for their business, they could purchase that land from the landowners." alliant says it has paid some money to the landowners to get them be part of the program. the linn county board of supervisors now has 485 acres of land to expand squaw creek park. the county bought it in early november for more than seven million dollars. it plans to extend its public park and trails as well as create a wetland. the county purchased the land will go through in march. the more than 400 acres is between highway 13 and mount vernon road officials say they'll use county reserve money, bond issues, selling land, and the local option sales tax to pay for it. the county will not use the forty million dollar linn county water and land legacy bonds to pay for the land. some dubuque business leaders say they're tired of disrespect and violence toward law enforcement. so they've organized a fundraiser to help police. a newly formed group made up of bankers, launching what they're calling the dubuque k-9 project. they want to raise 100- thousand dollars to buy and train a new police dog for the department. right now dubuque has one full time and one part time k-9 officer. police say another police dog could help cut down on crime. "it's a first hand investment and we think that's the best way to assure that the needs of the police department are properly cared for. a link for that on kcrg this morning, some people in grundy and butler counties are picking up after tornadoes caused minor damage. tornadoes are rare this time of the year, but not unheard of. in the coming days, the national weather service will be on the ground surveying the damage. they'll look into this reported tornado, which someone spotted near grundy center just before four o'clock yesterday afternoon. as kcrg t-v nine's jordee kalk learned, there was also a report of a tornado in parkersburg. cleanup in parkersburg is later today. most of the damage is where i am here on the northeast side of town. the city says the home that had the most damage is along orchid drive. i spoke to the homeowner there and she says she's missing a few shingles off the roof of her home but nothing too severe. she just tells me she's glad both she and her husband are safe she also says this storm is less severe than the storm in 2008. again there were no injuries in this storm. back to you. this morning, autho died in a plane crash. colombian police say four people survived the northwest region of the country. the chartered airplane had members of a brazilian soccer team on board. survivors are being treated at local hospitals. authorities think a possible electrical failure may have caused the crash. the first of 3 finalists for university of northern iowa president is coming to cedar falls today. he left his last university abruptly... neil theobald will visit the u-n-i campus today to meet with faculty, staff, students, and community members. just this past summer, the board at temple university planned to dismiss theobald as vote. he resigned a few days later. people can attend a public forum for him today from 2:30 to 3:45 at u-n-i's maucker union. the state regents plan to choose a finalist from the three candidates next week. some students have a knack for telling creative stories. ryan adams, a senior from independence, has lots of stories to tell based on his long list of activities. but for now, he's happy to be behind a camera telling presented by hills bank and trust. nats assembling the camera 18-year-old ryan adams knows how to do a little bit of everything. "i wasn't familiar with the cameras at all until last year..." he takes the initiative to learn new things, which is why ryan does so much. "there's so many great people in every department and activity i'm involved in. but music is something i've really become passionate about." ryan is a leader drumline. he's also a singer, active in musical theatre and plays local gigs with his own rock band. "music has been able to give me emotion that words can't. and that's something really powerful." in addition to the arts, he's a decorated athlete - qualifying for state in track and cross country. now in his senior year - he's got his eye on the future, focusing on film making projects. "right now, i'm working with the basketball team, with the wrestling team on making videos for their pre-season hype up." talking with coach hone his skills and see how he can put technology into athletics is kind of a nice challenge for him." i'll have you look right here "i really believe that there is so much to learn out there. and that motivates me to want to come into class and be able to put forth my best effort.
