in the upper 70s. thanks kaj. the iowa state patrol is investigating a crash in johnson county that killed a pedestrian. the johnson county sheriff's office says it responded to a crash on highway 218 north, just south of interstate 80 a little before nine last night. authorities tell tv-9 a passenger vehicle hit the pedestrian and the person was found dead at the scene. investigators have not killed in the crash. also this morning law enforcement agencies are investigating a fatal crash between a train and a pick-up truck in linn county. it happened around 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the intersection arabian road and the canadian national railroad tracks. that just south of alburnett. multiple law enforcement agencies were at the scene for hours. the linn county sheriff's office says a 44-year-old man from marion was driving a ford pickup, towing a flatbed trai westbound when he drove into the path of a northbound canadian national freight train. the collision caused the truck to catch fire. officials say the marion man died at the scene. they haven't released his name yet. no canadian national railway crew members were injured in the crash. the linn county sheriff's office is working with the canadian national railway to figure out what happened. two people in allamakee county are facing meth- related charges this morning following a narcotics investigation. the allamakee county sheriff's th search warrants in lansing yesterday. they arrested and charged 53 year-old amy downing of lansing with possession of a controlled substance for methamphetam ine. that's after investigators found items used with illegal narcotics in a home at 211 valley street. during a traffic stop, authorities also arrested 56 year-old richard aswegan junior of west union. he is also charged with possession of a controlled substance. both are being held in the allamakee county jail. police in killed a woman over the weekend. officers found 29 year old carissa rivers unresponsive shortly after midnight sunday. she was found in a keokuk alley near 10th street and north 5th street. rivers went to a hospital, where she died. an autopsy will be performed this week. police have not identified a suspect in the shooting. but say the public is not in danger. just hours after being honored at saturday's cyclone football game, police on suspicion of public intoxication. iowa state university police say davis refused to take a sobriety test when officers contacted him around 2:30 on sunday morning. the 45-year-old was held in the story county jail on a 300 dollar bond. davis played for the cyclones in the mid-1990's. he was a finalist for college football's top award, the heisman trophy, in 1996. isu had davis back to campus on saturday to honor him customers saw higher than expected bills from alliant energy, the company took to social media yesterday to apologize for the surprise. it said the bills are accurate, because this summer was hotter than alliant also said a new billing system sent a lot of estimated bills to customers, which caught them off guard. typically, the company contacts users when that happens, but alliant says it didn't have the enough employees to do so. the company says it will help customers come up with payment plans. it'll also be waiving late fees for affected users. two former democratic presidential candidates are stumping for their party's nominee, martin o'malley made a stop at the clinton office in ankeny yesterday afternoon. and bernie sanders will campaign in des moines on wednesday morning. the vermont senator's stop starts at 10:30 on drake university's campus. he was supposed to campaign in des moines and iowa city tomorrow but those stops have been canceled. tomorrow, the two vice presidential nominees will meet for their debate. democrat tim kaine and republican mike pence will make their cases to americans at longwood university 8 o'clock. you can watch it here on kcrg-tv9. the red cross is opening resource centers this week for people impacted by flooding in eastern iowa. a center in vinton at benton county emergency management is open from 11 a-m to 8 p-m today. workers there have clean-up kits. inside it includes, shovels, rakes and mops and more. officials are also on hand to help with paperwork needed for flood recovery. the red cross will open similar centers in cedar falls and waverly and the linn county-cedar rapids solid waste agency will begin collecting garbage and recycling today for people who were inside that flood evacuation zone. people who live there can put out their normal trash container plus two 35- gallon bags for free. there are still two sandbag drop-off sites open in cedar rapids. one is at ellis park near the tennis courts and the other is in the noelridge pool parking lot. if you can't drop off your sandbags, the city will collect the linn county sheriff's office and county courthouse will re-open today. that's after workers spent several days last week taking down barriers around the building. the correctional center opened saturday. members of st. patrick's catholic church are breathing a sigh of relief now that flood waters have disappeared. as kcrg tv9's phil reed reports, the congregation is thankful for all the efforts that went into protecting their church. there's a lot to sing about at st patrick's catholic church. members are happy to see little damage, after hours of work removing items from the building and placing sandbags around it. "it was a rather scary weekend last weekend, but the help that the church had was amazing. a truly family parrish." father ivan nienhaus says they would have had to find another place for worship if the floodwaters heavily damaged their buildings again. " after the 2008 flood we spent 3 million dollars rebuilding our again. " customer talking and it's business as usual at the ark catholic bookstore, which is connected to the church. "god is good. we are very happy that we took everything up, but we are also very happy that we are not cleaning mud out. at afternoon mass, the congregation said a prayer and while they are counting their blessings sunday, they know they may not be as lucky the next time. before 9:15 last night. investigators shut down that part of the highway for several hours. law enforcement have not released the name of person who died. one person died when a train sunday afternoon. the linn county sheriff's office says the pickup.. hauling a flatbed trailer drove into the path of a freight train around 2:00. the driver died at the scene. no one on the train was hurt. in the upper 70s. thanks kaj. the iowa state patrol is investigating a crash in johnson county that killed a pedestrian. the johnson county sheriff's office says it responded to a crash on highway 218 north, just south of interstate 80 a little before nine last night. authorities tell tv-9 a passenger vehicle hit the pedestrian and the person was found dead at the scene. investigators have not killed in the crash. also this morning law enforcement agencies are investigating a fatal crash between a train and a pick-up truck in linn county. it happened around 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the intersection arabian road and the canadian national railroad tracks. that just south of alburnett. multiple law enforcement agencies were at the scene for hours. the linn county sheriff's office says a 44-year-old man from marion was driving a ford pickup, towing a flatbed trai westbound when he drove into the path of a northbound canadian national freight train. the collision caused the truck to catch fire. officials say the marion man died at the scene. they haven't released his name yet. no canadian national railway crew members were injured in the crash. the linn county sheriff's office is working with the canadian national railway to figure out what happened. two people in allamakee county are facing meth- related charges this morning following a narcotics investigation. the allamakee county sheriff's th search warrants in lansing yesterday. they arrested and charged 53 year-old amy downing of lansing with possession of a controlled substance for methamphetam ine. that's after investigators found items used with illegal narcotics in a home at 211 valley street. during a traffic stop, authorities also arrested 56 year-old richard aswegan junior of west union. he is also charged with possession of a controlled substance. both are being held in the allamakee county jail. police in killed a woman over the weekend. officers found 29 year old carissa rivers unresponsive shortly after midnight sunday. she was found in a keokuk alley near 10th street and north 5th street. rivers went to a hospital, where she died. an autopsy will be performed this week. police have not identified a suspect in the shooting. but say the public is not in danger. just hours after being honored at saturday's cyclone football game, police on suspicion of public intoxication. iowa state university police say davis refused to take a sobriety test when officers contacted him around 2:30 on sunday morning. the 45-year-old was held in the story county jail on a 300 dollar bond. davis played for the cyclones in the mid-1990's. he was a finalist for college football's top award, the heisman trophy, in 1996. isu had davis back to campus on saturday to honor him customers saw higher than expected bills from alliant energy, the company took to social media yesterday to apologize for the surprise. it said the bills are accurate, because this summer was hotter than alliant also said a new billing system sent a lot of estimated bills to customers, which caught them off guard. typically, the company contacts users when that happens, but alliant says it didn't have the enough employees to do so. the company says it will help customers come up with payment plans. it'll also be waiving late fees for affected users. two former democratic presidential candidates are stumping for their party's nominee, martin o'malley made a stop at the clinton office in ankeny yesterday afternoon. and bernie sanders will campaign in des moines on wednesday morning. the vermont senator's stop starts at 10:30 on drake university's campus. he was supposed to campaign in des moines and iowa city tomorrow but those stops have been canceled. tomorrow, the two vice presidential nominees will meet for their debate. democrat tim kaine and republican mike pence will make their cases to americans at longwood university 8 o'clock. you can watch it here on kcrg-tv9. the red cross is opening resource centers this week for people impacted by flooding in eastern iowa. a center in vinton at benton county emergency management is open from 11 a-m to 8 p-m today. workers there have clean-up kits. inside it includes, shovels, rakes and mops and more. officials are also on hand to help with paperwork needed for flood recovery. the red cross will open similar centers in cedar falls and waverly and the linn county-cedar rapids solid waste agency will begin collecting garbage and recycling today for people who were inside that flood evacuation zone. people who live there can put out their normal trash container plus two 35- gallon bags for free. there are still two sandbag drop-off sites open in cedar rapids. one is at ellis park near the tennis courts and the other is in the noelridge pool parking lot. if you can't drop off your sandbags, the city will collect the linn county sheriff's office and county courthouse will re-open today. that's after workers spent several days last week taking down barriers around the building. the correctional center opened saturday. members of st. patrick's catholic church are breathing a sigh of relief now that flood waters have disappeared. as kcrg tv9's phil reed reports, the congregation is thankful for all the efforts that went into protecting their church. there's a lot to sing about at st patrick's catholic church. members are happy to see little damage, after hours of work removing items from the building and placing sandbags around it. "it was a rather scary weekend last weekend, but the help that the church had was amazing. a truly family parrish." father ivan nienhaus says they would have had to find another place for worship if the floodwaters heavily damaged their buildings again. " after the 2008 flood we spent 3 million dollars rebuilding our again. " customer talking and it's business as usual at the ark catholic bookstore, which is connected to the church. "god is good. we are very happy that we took everything up, but we are also very happy that we are not cleaning mud out. at afternoon mass, the congregation said a prayer and while they are counting their blessings sunday, they know they may not be as lucky the next time. "we are hoping that we will move forward with flood protection on both sides of the river. we cannot go through this every 8 years " oil prices have seen a sharp increase after a decrease in before 9:15 last night. investigators shut down that part of the highway for several hours. law enforcement have not released the name of person who died. one person died when a train sunday afternoon. the linn county sheriff's office says the pickup.. hauling a flatbed trailer drove into the path of a freight train around 2:00. the driver died at the scene. no one on the train was hurt.
