People are carefully monitoring the harbor in case that happens. The owner of that sunken boathouse says she was in shock when she heard the news. Urbandale superintenden t steve bass says their philosophy is to make sure all adults know what to do in an active shooter situation. But security expert tom conley says Running Drills with everyone, including students, is are prepared for the worst. Now that people are returning to their homes and businesses, many will be anxious to get rid of their sandbags. But the city wants to do it properly. Starting at seven this morning, there will be drop off sites for businesses and non profits. The Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance is running the sites. Workers there are asking people let them know ahead of time if the sandbags are wet or dry, so that the bags can be stacked accordingly. 7 18, you get them here leave them here, the district and our Funding Partners and figuring out ho businesses. Businesses and non profits have four dropoff locations for sandbags. One is on the east side of downtown between the quaker oats and cargill plants. Another is next to the former chrome horse building in newbo. A third is the parking lot behind the shops on 16th avenue southwest in czech village. And finally, there one near Second Avenue and l the city has two locations for homeowners to drop off wet and dry sandbags. The noelridge pool site opens at seven am today. The city says downtown bridges should be open to traffic saturday. That includes all i380 ramps leading into the downtown area. Bus service will also resume saturday. And starting monday, the linn countycedar rapids Solid Waste Agency will start collecting garbage and recycling within the without trash pickup for a week, they can put out their normal trash container plus two 35gallon bags for free. The final flood barriers are down and all the male inmates are back in jail at the linn county courthouse this morning. The county moved them to other facilities last weekend. Workers are still removing flood barriers from the Sheriffs Office. Thats set to reopen monday. Progress isnt coming along as quickly for cedar rapids city hall. It might not reopen for up to 30 days. The city says the building of it out. The damage was mostly to basement rugs and drywall. Members of the American Red Cross are trying to keep morale high as people start to return home. They dont know exactly whats going on. Theres lots of anxiety. Theyve lost their homes. Theyve maybe lost some of their belongings and those kinds of things. They dont know what theyre going back to. And theyre more concerned with that than they are the Living Conditions the red cross housed more than United Methodist church. And housed dozens of people at the Cedar Hills Community Church this week. The red cross is also supplying free clean up kits for those who did have water damage. People from the federal Emergency Management agency, or fema, toured flood damaged homes and businesses in floyd, butler, and bremer counties. They took photos, spoke with homeowners, and measured how high flood waters rose inside buildings. Theyll then, governor branstad will decide if hell ask president obama for a federal disaster declaration, which would qualify the area for federal aid. Today, a man is facing charges for a fatal hit and run crash in jo daviess county, illinois, earlier this month. Authorities accuse 27 year old corey rogers of failure to report an acc injury or death. He is from scales mound, illinois. The Sheriffs Office says he sideswiped a parked car and then hit. Alex boelk on september 17th it happened near the 6 thousand block of pea ridge road in scales mound. The 17 year old later died. He was from apple river, wisconsin.
