"at theestate level, in iowa for instance, we do an objective yield survey where we actually go out into the fields and take physical counts. but we' also going out to the produccrs and asking them what their expected yields are going to be. so, there's two pieces of information is what we use to make our forecast in our crop production reports." there are two ways u- s-d-a gets the data.. field enumerators go out and tke coconts.. and they send ouousurveyors to farms asking what the crop looks like.. prillaman says he's thankful for producers and agribusinesse s who complete the survey.. their goal for accuracy is to ge back about 80 percentof what they send out. the final yields survey will be released in january.. ---- in one of the last iowa crop reports of the season.. farmers are wrapping up the corn harvest.. only about four percent is left statewide.. and moving on applications. bubu. there's stitil a sluggiss grain markets.. "i am still bearish. i'm short corn, december corn around $3.79. i still think lower prices are ahead. the u.s. dollar is higher once again..." "and i just don't think that trend is going to stop. and the problem with corn is, corn's used as an ethanol product. crude oil continues to hit new lows, down another dollar today, and thaa's affecting corn. i just think corn is going lower. i am short beans from $8.72 in the january contract. i still think beans are going lower. remain short, i see no reason to own the grain market at this time." "the cattle trade was outstanding. i have taken off about 75 percent of my positions, which were numerous. i am still short, i still think prices are going to the $115 level in the december contract. however, volatility is massive at the current time, and if you're not involved in this market, i would avoid it." "47:54-:12 "we'd like to change the law related to distracted driving to make those primary offenses, so that a police officer or sheriff's deputy or state patrol officer could stop those indiviiuals if they see them in that action.." as for the mentaahealth and disability services item... peterson says counties are struggling to find adequate funding to help individuals with mental health issues. he hopes to help counties find funding for those services. "anywhere from brain bleeds to problems with their heart to their lungs, was the main hing at first."doctors had to keep a close eye on the twins. gabriel spent four and a half months in the nicu. nora, whoowas having ththe brain a half. "it's very scary. your whole world seems to stop when something like that happens." adding to the ackerson's troubles, limited income. emily had to leave her job as nurse to be with her kids. plus, the couple's home was in cedar falls, more than 60 miles away from their children, recovering in a cedar rapids hospital. "we put on 27,000 miles." with all the bad, it was time for some good. the compassion fund was there to help the ackersons make ends meet. it took care of bills and filled up their vehicles with gas. the fund works by giving social workers and care providers a debit card hooked to an account that can provide families with sick kids with emergency funds when they need it.
