[ speaking foreign language ] >> reporter: they are the subject of a new netflix documentary. and they've been nominated for the nobel peace prize. tonight, that volunteer, his white helmet and his tears. and another child saved. and so helmets, saving lives every day in that war. thank you for watching. i'm david muir. i hope to see you back here today, people in the flood evacuation zone moved back in to their homes, and business owners got back into their buildings. the evacuation included more than six- thousand homes and businesses. today, the city opened the evacuation zone for people affected to start moving back in. this is a live look at the river from the newbo area, where that process is underway. linn county is assessing damage and so far a small portion of homes had water. yesterda 52 properties in cedar rapids. 12 had minor damage. 5 were inaccessible. 35 weren't affected. in palo, of 39 properties inspected, 35 had minor damage. one had major damage, and three were inaccessible. as kcrg-tv nine's mark carlson reports, businesses in the flood zone are getting back on track. downtown cedar rapids is slowly returning to normal. businesses up and down their stock - from beer to food to tables and chairs. this was the scene at reds public house on 2nd st., where employees hope to have everything back and ready to go by the end of the weekend. the general manager here says volunteer help was huge throughout this flood event- now she hopes people will find it within themselves to come back downtown in force and really patronize these businesses, which have been closed for a week and missed out on a lot of revenue. at la cantina in downtown they rallied overnight to get back open.
