the area. they're now in the process of clearing what exactly was in that bottle. developing tonight, seven people taken to the hospital after a three-alarm fire roars through an apartment building. tonight, investigators trying to figure out what started it, tell us they can't rule out anything. our lauren dispirito live near yale. it was quite a challenge for those fire crews. >> reporter: it was, and four tonight, investigators have been able to determine where the fire started. they say on the southwest side of this corner, that it actually started outside, behind the arapahoe rescue patrol vehicle that you see there. but they're still investigating exactly how it started. they tell us of those seven people injured, five of them were first responders, all had to be taken to the hospital with smoke inhalation. >> the flames were going up the building. >> reporter: dexter victoria hunter run, when a neighbor ran door to door telling people to get out. >> i saw flames coming out of that unit next to me. >> reporter: miguel happened to be driving by, and captured this image. >> when i was running towards the fire, it just kind of, it didn't blow up, but the whole thing got out of hand. >> reporter: 77 firefighters from 4 agencies fought the flames. >> all units, we are going defensive on this fire. we have a partial collapse. >> reporter: checking units for people who may have been it too dangerous to be inside. >> all units abandon the structure. >> reporter: investigators say they've accounted for everyone who live there, but the building is a total loss. you now at least the firefighter and the four deputies were transported and released. we're told they are all expected to be okay. right now is assisting dozens of families. there were 24 different apartment homes in this building. live in arapahoe county, lauren dispirito, cbs4 news. there are new details about the man suspected of planting bombs in new york and new jersey. cbs news has learned that ahmad rahami traveled to afghanistan several times. we also know rahami is not cooperating with investigators. three hours after police sent out a phone aall right, rahami was shot by police and captured in linden, new jersey. a bar owner called police when he found rahami sleeping on his front stoop. >> i told them that there's this guy, you need to come and check it out. he don't look good. >> reporter: rahami's arrest ends a weekend of terror. found a few blocks away, but it did not go off. surveillance video shows him walking along the street, dragging a bag that investigators believe contains a bomb. his fingerprint found on the unexploded device. police had linked rahami to a pipe bomb at a charity race. >> i have no there is a cell operating in the area, or the city. i have no indication that there's a cell operating here. >> rahami is a naturalized citizen from afghanistan. a new jersey congressman says that he got a letter from rahami in 2014, asking for help getting his pregnant wife a visa. a man from arvada is facing charges for allegedly lawmaker. investigators say dylan hopkins sent a facebook message to sate senator laura woods. threatening to kill woods and her family. >> he was going to shoot me and my family in the face, and if we knocked on his door, he would deliver a bullet to the head. >> hopkins is now charged with harassment. woods says she is not going to stop her door-to-door campaigning, but will avoid hopkins' neighborhood. in a developing story. this woman from denver is charged with the allegations are even more disturbing now that we've learned she has made a career out of working with children. karen morfitt has been digging into the suspect's past. karen, what else are you finding? >> reporter: well jim, according to arrest paperwork, she was a very close family friend to the alleged victim, which is how they met. now these allegations stem from several years back, and have already been called into attorneys. 41-year-old alex kuisis is charged with seven counts of sexual assault on a child. accused with molesting an 8- year-old girl beginning in 2008. >> things that happened in different locations. >> reporter: a spokesperson says kuisis was a close friend of the family. but it wasn't until recently that the victim revealed to authorities what happened. >> it's not assault for there to not be a report right away. >> reporter: according to an online resume, she's been working with children for several years, including a preschool in boulder, and most recently, the monosary academy. in it, the author writes, there permeate my life. in the meantime, the investigation continues. >> there's no indication that there are other victims, but that will certainly be something investigators will keep an eye toward. >> reporter: i did reach out to kuisis this afternoon and received a response from her attorney who says it's unfortunate, the d.a. filed formal charges and released information before they have the opportunity to present information that they say questions the credibility of quote the very late accusations. frontier airlines says it's getting back to normal after frustrated passengers tell us they've been delayed for upwards of 8 hours. this picture of the lines at the customer service center out of dia. fly view.com says the flights were running 20 minutes to 8 hours behind today. delays were to blame. but the pilot blames quote the same mismanaged focus on cost cutting that has placed frontier at the bottom of the industry. the city has cited the owners of the sterlings peaks apartments. several students told us they were very upset to find their two bedroom apartments had been converted to four bedrooms, with only a bookcase splitting the owners are facing 184 counts of building code violations, and each of the charges carries a possible fine of $1,000. new information on what might have caused the panic at a denver hospital last friday. you will recall, s.w.a.t. teams and officers were never able to confirm witness reports of a gunman or shots fired. jeff todd covered the lockdown that day. he's covering the story. the things that led to this hour long lockdown and search were two nurses who say they saw a man outside of the hospital with a gun. other reports added to the confusion, but at this point, there's been no sign that a gun was ever fired on this medical campus. >> we got some reports that a man with a possible rifle was seen crossing the street in front of the parking garage. >> reporter: the first call came into 911 around 4:17 sunday afternoon. >> additional reports, two walking across the street with a rifle. >> reporter: as misinformation spread throughout the medical campus, police had no choice but to lockdown all the buildings and search for a suspected gunman. some nurses reported hearing gunshots inside the building, but may have heard something else. >> it's a possibility that the shutdown, the lockdown of the building caused that noise. our responsibility is to take care of that situation, so that we get officers in there, and make sure that hospital is safe and clear. >> reporter: police would still like to talk to the person of interest, seen in surveillance video, but police aren't sharing the images or video. >> we did have some video footage. it's not real good footage. a possibility that that suspect recovered that weapon. it doesn't look at this point in time like he ever made it into the hospital. probably just walked by the hospital, but was carrying something that could can't tell from the video. >> reporter: one of the things that police say did go right here is that the nurses saw something and said something. they had a good report to go off of to make sure that everybody was safe. the hospital told us today, they're having a pretty big debrief meeting tomorrow. live in denver, jeff todd, cbs 4 news. also tonight the memorial service for the school bus dia. kari chopper first, and then it was anger. how could someone do this to my car? and now it's just, i really hope tme think of a better way to have fun. >> similar incidents have been reported at trailheads, and in neighborhoods, and jefferson douglas counties and littleton. investigators think the vandals are most likely kids. sweet ending for a popular chili vender who was told to pack up her peppers. for the past ten years, she has been running a vending. the store director, but this year, that store director told her because was merger with safe way she couldn't do business there. good news though, after charge the parents. but then district attorney alex hunter declined to prosecute, feeling it could not be proven. both parents and the brother burke were cleared by d.a., mary lacy, but garnett says that means little. >> really not much of legal consequence. >> reporter: the family was cleared, because d.a. that was found in the connection with the murder was not theirs, and remains unidentified. boulder police have taken back the investigation from the d.a. two detectives are assigned part time. >> this is an open investigation. investigators from our major crimes unit are assigned to they've examined 1500 pieces of evidence. 200 dna samples and received some 20,000 tips in total. >> most of them are along the lines of somebody had a vision and they learned in the vision who killed jonbenet, or god told somebody who killed jonbenet. that kind of thing. >> we have not, and will not give up. we remain focused on this investigation, and finding justice for jonbenet. >> people in boulder county are tired of this case. unless i ca really don't want to hear me talking about it much. as the saying goes, it is next man up. that's the philosophy football teams use to deal with
