glenn, flood warning for highlands ranch, acres green, ken caryl. if we take it down to street level, bam, right there, c-470 and santa fe in the thick of it, this is going to bog down traffic. not much hail but a lot of embedded lightning and rain, we have had big hail, at last chance, severe thunderstorm warning until 6:15, and up to salt.ping-pong sized hail out of that, in the last hour, big line of thunderstorms blew up north of colorado springs. there's a flood advisory in effect for cimmaron, colorado springs down there, they'll have flood problems with storms producing anywhere from 1 to 2 inches of rain in a very short period of time. so, this cold front, the second cold front in two days is really, really strong out there. >> thank you. stan bush is life in the we know you got dark clouds around there. >> we certainly do, and low clouds, we are in golden where we have had a pretty steady drizzle for about the last hour here, it is certainly not a deluge right now but has been going on for quite some time, take a look at a large american flag over my shoulder, kicking up for quite some time. as you look past it, what you really notice is the low cloud level, just a few hundred feet above the ground. this storm system moving very slow and we are going to see a soaker going on for most of the systems are moving together. one thing we are noticing for sure, the temperature. 54 degrees right now after days in the 90s. this is a noticeable change, it feels a lot like fall, even early winter. look for the temperatures to go down throughout the night. live in golden, stan bush, cbs 4 news. firefighters quick to put out the grass fire in brighton, broke out this afternoon at yosemite and 168th. firefighters a windy enter dry conditions early this afternoon made it tough to battle. firefighters quickly put out towering flames in adams county, copter 4 got over there before wildfires, you can see the wood pellets burning outside of this house at 1529 broadway, the building made of concrete, the fire never got inside, firefighters put out the flames in about six minutes. developing tonight, convicted sex offenders are suing the city of englewood, they say the city's ordinances are living with them without a place to live. a convicted sex offender tells our howard nathan 1/8 of inglewood is available to sex offenders. >> reporter: a sex offender lives here in englewood, his attorney fighting to keep him from being affected by the city says his car was vandalized recently after his name became known. she is fighting to uphold the rights of her clients to live where they want. >> most of my clients have struggled to rehabilitate themselves. job. it is so hard to find housing. >> reporter: case in point, englewood is using this map outlining where sex offenders may or may not live near the no go zones would be near schools or places where kids might play. it also means according to the attorney, virtually all of englewood is off limits to registered sex offenders. >> they have gone through treatment, they have been punished. >> reporter: the attorney challenge the sex offender registries which she says makes living in thei illegal. >> everybody has got this incorrect notion that all sex offenders are pedophiles, all sex offenders are creepy, all sex offenders are dangerous, when that is just not true. >> reporter: her arguments against the englewood maps is that she says the repeat offender rate for sexual offenders is less than 1%, compared to other felons. >> paroled murderers, burglars, drug dealers, extortionists, people convicted of child abuse and neglect, and, drunk drivers who kill many more children in they allow all of them in their neighborhood. >> we made multiple calls to city hall taking comments, so far no response. happening now, a mother increased her reward to figure out what killed her son new year's eve. investigators found the body of tasheo gilmore on a couch outside of an apartment complex. people first thought he was asleep, the reward was looking for the suspects who killed him. new details on a deadly hit and run in adams county, a woman who crashed her car later ended up getting run over. this happened on i-76 near 136th, not far from barr lake state park. her body found a half-mile away from the crash scene. cbs 4's melissa garcia is life there now to explain exactly what happened. melissa? >> reporter: police say after that woman crashed her car along i-76, just down there, that she actually started walking along the interstate when you see the pole that she took down, it is hard to believe that she walked away from the first crash. police are trying to figure out why the woman behind the wheel of this blue subaru drove off the interstate early friday morning. she was driving eastbound on i- 76, just before 136th avenue, when she had a huge metal pole with this signposted, and quite literally, took the next right, right off the road and into the ditch. when she crashed into the brush, police say the woman who was around 50 years old, got out of her car and started wandering down the interstate. >> we did not have any original report of an accident this morning, we just have a report that 4:26 and 4:54 of the female walking along the roadway,sent officers out twice and they were not able to locate her. that's the only reason we believe she was walking along the roadway after an accident. >> reporter:another driver heading westbound on i-76 saw a body lying on the side of the road one half mile away from officers did a grid search, walking along the road and grass, searching for evidence. investigators believe the woman was struck by a car sometime between 5 and 6:20 a.m. and are searching for clues as to who hit and killed her and did not stop. >> if somebody struck her on the roadway, we would like to talk to them about what happened and we'd like to know who they are. >> reporter: authorities are asking anyone with information to call the brighton police department. police believe they do know who the woman hit and killed was but are not releasing her identity pending the notification of her family. melissa garcia, cbs 4 news. an update on the business owner accused of stealing from customers, a judge sentenced him to 20 years in prison. he owned his own dueling piano detainment company called dueling piano's roadshow. had credit cards build several times. investigators say in all, he stole more than $200,000 from vic to miss. the colorado department of transportation says a record number of commuters travel through the eisenhower johnson title in july. c.d.o.t. says there was a 7% increase from july of last year, which is equivalent to 87,000 more vehicles. down to newsroom recorder -- reporter matt kroschel is live in silverthorne tonight, friday evening is notorious for backups heading up to the mountains. how are things going tonight? two colorado communities are dealing with contaminated water. the air force admits it may have been caused by foam use like this on base. toxic chemicals were found in water systems serving 69,000 people in the city of fountain and insecurity wide-field. both communities are south of the peterson air force base. katie pelton is following the investigation. >> that's not fair! security wide-field and fountain are getting some answers as to where per fluorinated compounds, or trend nine, in their water, came from. in this 145 page preliminary report obtained by 11 news, we learned there are six sites on peterson air force base where firefighting foam may have leaked into the groundwater. those sites include this fire training area used from 1956 to 1997. firefighting foam was ust the foam contains trend nine. the report from this spot includes the question, is there a suspected release to groundwater and it is marked, guess. there are also two different fire stations where spray tests took place. also, a nearby pond that gets runoff from peterson and finally, a golf course that is a former leach field where runoff was routed. follow-up investigations are recommended for each six sites. neighbors are on edge, worried >> i bought a water dispenser, so i go and buy the drugs from walmart. >> it made me immediately stop using everything ice included. >> reporter: in all, 13 locations on base were checked. the others are okay. as we reported, the air force will spend $4.3 million to install filters into the water system is. >> i don't want another flint happening here. >> that was katie pelton reporting for us. officials say drinking water in fountaan and state standards. we have new information tonight about a ballot measure trying to fund denver schools. the measure would have to be passed by voters through a mill levy and bond, 3a asks for $57 million while 3b wants $572 million. the president of the dps board of education says that money will go directly to schools. >> and what that allows is school communities to make decisions that are best for >> the mill levy would increase property taxes by $10 per month. traditionally, voters in colorado have been against tax hikes. we checked with the independence institute, that organization is not taking a position on the issue. let's get over to dave aguilera and talk more about the weather alert. >> let's take you to doppler 4000. we see all these red storms, the leading edge of the cold front blasting through colorado springs and toward lyman. the cool air is falling in behind it, you can see a sh one into boulder county, highlands ranch just got pounded with heavy rain, up to 1 to 2 inches of rain, we have flooding issues along c-470 come all the way into highlands ranch and a flood advisory until 7 p.m. look, the storm is moving so quickly it is past the castlerock area, and moving into central douglas county. heavy thunderstorms now north of hesse road, up to lincoln avenue, this is i-25. if you live in the stonegate out of that. a lot of lighting as well. severe thunderstorm warning for this storm in order lincoln county going on down there, this has the potential of up to two inch diameter hail, and all of these storms have a lot of lighting. if we put that on its side, we have seen some storms from this one go at least up to 40,000 feet. the back end of it is at 20. this is a big storm blowing through that area. now we go down to colorado springs. they have a flood warning now until 8 p.m. springs, 22 inches of rain out of the storm that is blasting southward as well, that is the leading edge of the cold air coming that way. one inch diameter hail in wellington, eaton and kersey, branches blown down in commerce city, montebello, we showed you the picture of a tree blown over. in greeley, i would not be surprised if we had trees down there, they had an 81 mile an hour wind when that front came through. if that is not enough, across lightning strikes, thousands of lightning strikes out of this. this is a dangerous situation. lightning is the number one life-threatening weather hazard in colorado. matt reynolds in netherland had some hail that came through, there's a closer look at that, and, mike had marble sized hail up there on his back deck up there in bailey, kind of rough for a brief period of time du look behind it, we have dropped to 54 at d.i.a., boulder and fort collins. that's going to continue to drive us through the evening tonight. the forecast for this evening, showers and thunderstorms will continue. rockies game at 6:40, might be a little delayed if you're heading down the, it is not going to be a washout but you may have storms slowing down. 45 for the overnight low, cool tonight,
