richling who was walking here. at alameda and lowell sunday night, a hit and run driver a 26-year-old man walking. the driver, police say, is 17 and only has a learners permit. the accident happened as street racing. >> witnesses gave us credible information they were revving their engine and acting as though they were preparing for a drag race. the preliminary look at the evidence is going to felony. jennifer brice, cbs 4 news . new information tonight on a deadly home invasion shooting over the weekend. police said today they think the attacker may have known the victims. it was shortly after midnight saturday when officers rushed to that home on the 100 block they found one man dead and another male rushed to the hospital in critical condition. investigators believe the two victims lived in the home. >> the information we have is still very brief, that the suspects stormed their way into the home. >> police do want to interview that surviving victim when he is finally out of the icu. they tell us they have no indication what motivated the attack. we have new video of firefighters on the scene of a house crews rescue two people in this home on east warren. they were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation. flames damaged much of the house. the fire started in a better meant they are still looking into the cause. this is a news in campaign 2016. here is something you calling on the secretary of state to review all signatures and says supporters should also. >> they want to prove there is not more fraud. they should ask the secretary of state to review all of our signatures. >> we are so confident that we have vastly more than the signatures needed to qualify for the ballot that we would welcome that. >> reporter: secretary williams review but has put together a bipartisan community of lawmakers to consider changes in the petition review process, including possible signature verification. >> there is time and cost involved in this additional review but i think it is worth it to ensure that people are actually legitimately on the ballot and the issues are legitimately on the ballot.>> reporter: the secretary of state says he is p because the right to petition is protected by the first amendment, he also can't require background checks. that could all change this next legislative session. in the meantime, he says the onus is on groups submitting
