it didn't take long before these images of two men burglarizing the home of denver broncos linebacker demarcus ware were being posted. reposted. shared. and tweeted by thousands. >> the fans have done a great job. when you mess with one of the broncos country own, they spread it out everywhere. >> reporter: roughly 36 hours after the crime, denver police say a crime stoppers alert had generated multiple tips. leading to the arrest of two men. 41-year-old billy mccaslin and 31-year-old sergio irreza. >> there is 700 plus or 800 plus thousand citizens that live here. chances are someone saw something. someone knows who these individuals are. and they can lead us or point the investigators in the right direction. >> reporter: investigators were also able to recover the items taken from ware's cherry creek ring. >> not about a material bull thing. it's about going through my stuff. you've been in my house. that's the main thing. so it don't feel like home anymore. >> reporter: shortly after learning about the arrest, ware took to twitter thanking those who have helped in the case and reminding thieves, don't mess with broncos country. >> i'm glad i wasn't in there when he was in there. i would have sacked him. >> reporter: we did run a background check on those two suspects. mccaslin has a record that includes child abus trespassing. both are behind bars tonight. live in denver, karen morfitt, cbs4 news. colorado playing host on the campaign trail tonight, donald trump's running mate mike pence spoke at a rally in the springs earlier this evening. and we'll be seeing more of the trump campaign before election day. the latest battleground tracker from cbs news shows only four states still as toss-ups. and that's right, colorado. stan bush in colorado springs tonight. earlier polls gave hillary clinton a pretty sizable lead here but trump still has a shot. >> reporter: jim, those toss-up polls make colorado seem more necessary for trump's path to the white house. tonight, this was a traditional get out the vote speech impassioned with some red meat for supporters endorsements for republicans up and down the ticket, and also claims that the election is a speaking in the most conservative part of colorado, mike pence told supporters to ignore current headlines about the campaign. >> have to turn on the tv this morning with a stick. i don't even know -- are you with me on that? >> i just continue to see the enthusiasm grow. you saw this dynamic crowd tonight here in colorado. i saw the same in nevada and in utah. and campaigning with donald people that are coming out -- >> reporter: so for pence, utah this morning, nebraska tomorrow. stops in traditional republican strongholds show just the challenges that campaign is facing. now with just 12 days until election day. live in colorado springs, stan bush, cbs4 news. >> thanks. colorado push continues tomorrow, trump's a son eric rally at colorado christian university in liquid. the candidate himself is focused on north carolina. he landed there tonight and greeted supporters at the airport as we mentioned north carolina one of four states considered a toss-up. hillary clinton celebrated her 69th birthday today. she delivered cake to the press corps on the plane and said despite her sizable lead in the polls, she is not slowing down. >> i feel good but i am determined that nobody is going think this election is over before it's actually over. >> national polls put clinton in the lead by five to nine points. you can check out the poles and get analysis from political specialist shaun boyd and cbsdenver.com. we have been following developing very tragic story in liquid where a toddler drowned in a small backyard pond. police say the 18-month-old girl was with her granddad while he did yardwork and likely wandered to the neighbors yard girl from that pond but it was too late to save her. the latest on a case we've been following since last fall. the man accused of being the so- called scream robbers are going on trial. jury selection began today in jefferson county court. lauren dispirito live tonight in one of the banks that was hit late last year. lauren? >> reporter: yes. this is one of two banks that police say the suspects hit. selection continues. last fall, police say three men carried out a terrifying crime spree. that included robbing two lakewood banks, jumping counters and threatening employees. they tried to get away, police say the men carried out two carjackings, shot two more people, and punched a woman in the face. the suspect became known as the scream robbers. for the masks they even one landing on the fbi's most wanted list. before being caught. now those suspects will spend -- stand trial. tyrone richardson, miguel sanders, and myloh mason face dozens of charges that include attempted murder, kidnapping and aggravated robbery. the prosecution says dna evidence and witness testimony link the three men to the crimes. the defense will argue there are inconsistencies in those blame. 200 people have been summoned for jury selection. the trial is expected to last six weeks. and opening statements in the case are set to begin on monday. live in lakewood, lauren dispirito, cbs4 news. >> thank you, lauren. the story of a veteran his stolen bicycle and the now viral plea for its return. the veteran has spent the past six weeks in fort collins getting his dog. just before they were supposed to leave town, someone stole his specialized bike. jeff todd joins us now. this is a one-of-a-kind bike? salt lake city this morning but tsa noticing pilot russell dusek smelled of alcohol. police say he failed a breathalyzer and was arrested. the flight took off hours later. after a replacement pilot arrested last year for being above the legal limit to fly. the search for about a dozen cattle still missing after an accident yesterday on i-70. cdot brought out cowboys to corral the livestock near georgetown. matt kroschel shows us where the wild west meets the mountain west. >> the thing about moving cows is it is not like in the cowboy movies. >> reporter: but it sure looks like a wild west movie set in georgetown these days. wait until it looks like where they want to go and then you tell them that's the right way to go. >> reporter: volunteers mounted up 24 hours after the crash setting out to recapture nearly 20 of the original 80 cattle on board the big rig when it flipped tuesday morning. >> they scattered all over in there. >> reporter: volunteers like dan lincoln from the jefferson county horse evacuation assistance team. >> we're kind of amateurs. we don't herd cattle very often. for help as cattle roamed through town and dangerously close to interstate traffic. >> the terrain is rough up in there. rocks and trees. >> reporter: we lost drone 4 to give you a bird's eye view of the wrangling operations. making sure to steer clear of the upset cattle and keep them calm. volunteers used ropes and dogs to roundup these four. nearly a dozen remain unaccounted for. >> we are happy to do this. >> reporter: a community rallies to round up cattle, following an unfortunate crash. >> i don't know. they may be there all winter. >> reporter: matt kroschel, cbs4 mountain newsroom. a vandal targeted donald trump's star on the hollywood walk of fame. video from deadline hollywood shows a man dressed as a construction worker repeatedly swinging a pickax destroying the star. that man was arrested later this afternoon city crews came out to repair it. this is the end of a migrant camp known as the northern france. it was home to thousands of migrants fleeing war and poverty in other countries. earlier this week french authorities started moving people out of the camp. some set fires as they left. for people arrested and one fire victim did need hospital treatment. it has been unusually warm but tomorrow we can reach and even break some really old records. >> what's going on? >> just warm weather and just getting warmer. hence the chance of breaking records. nothing going on right now, all the moisture goes up from the pacific to the north and lauren whitney in the colorado weather center. >> the next couple of days we are going to be in the 80s here in denver. to end the work week so that is unusually warm for this time of year. record high for tomorrow is 80 degrees from back in 1966. so that's a pretty old one tomorrow or at least try it. the record for friday is also 80 degrees from back in 1994. we are looking at two very warm records that will probably be tied or broken over the next couple of days. if october ended today this would be our fifth warmest october on record. so we are talking very warm temperatures but we are going to stay above average the next several days. if you are preplanning for halloween you're looking at pretty nice weather as well. we want great trick or treating whether. around here. 60s for the mountains and 70s out west. here is the forecast, tonight clear skies, mid-40s for the overnight lows, and then for tomorrow mostly sunny skies right around that 80-degree mark and if we hit 80 at dia, we tie the record high. let's break it on friday. 81 degrees. and then a little bit cooler on saturday, still pleasant 73. still 11 degrees above normal. look at bronco sunday, 77 degrees. 71, and then down to a little bit cooler weather but for these days, 60 is the average. so still above average. but still plenty -- still plenty dry. >> thanks, ed. this one spent much of the day perched
