with lauren today. good morning, yes, the chance for more snow in parts of the high country today. it's really foggy outside this morning in parts of the plains. let's look at our visibility map. it's rough as you head up towards fort collins and cheyenne and colorado springs, thick fog as well. a little bit of cloud cover in the city and thicker fog on the plains from limon to ouray and down south as well. we'll break down a moment. an accident on our c-dot camera. you can see there in the eastbound direction the flashing lights at sheridan that is causing delays. some of this is turning yellow and speeds still into the 60s now eastbound along 6th avenue from sims to i-25. look at the damage here at this is really emergency repair. >> reporter: yes, over my shoulder you can sea the flashing lights. those are crews getting ready to do the emergency repairs because of what happened over the weekend. let's look at the damage from these photos that c-dot tweeted over the weekend showing a semi carrying construction equipment in the accident that happened there that broke off a piece of the bridge and that needs to be fixed. westbound lanes of highway 6 here at i-70 in golden will be clos there happening from now until 9 p.m. tonight and again from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. tomorrow and c-dot is saying this needs to happen during the day because of the materials they're using as well as for safety reasons. expect some delays and see if you can find an alternative route. this is going on until 9 p.m. tonight. live in golden, shawn chitnis, cbs4 news. a neighbor says officers the pastor's wife was found dead inside their denver home last night on east andrews drive. jamie leary is back in the neighborhood this morning. this seems to be a lot of details to sort out in this case. >> reporter: an important piece of investigation happening today. police conducting an autopsy this morning to determine how the victim died. she was found dead in this home on east andrews circle. police somebody in custody though. they're calling it suspicious so we're hoping to learn more about the investigation in general. police won't say why the death is suspicious. it was just after 5:30 yesterday evening when they responded to the home on east andrews drive. a neighbor tells cbs4 that it is a woman who is dead and her husband who is a teacher and pastor at a nearby church was taken away in handcuffs. after calling the police. >> they just came back from school. i said well, what are you thinking? he said the paramedics are here. and i took off. >> reporter: the neighbor also told us that the woman was actually very sick. he said there's no way that the pastor would have to harm her. police are questioning several people but haven't said there's anyone in custody at this point in time. the autopsy is being conducted so hoping for results sometime today. that's one of the stories we're working on today. weather and traffic every ten minutes on the 4's. a few storms out there today and the possibly of more on the lawson burg and trinidad this morning. we'll get a few breaks in clouds and there's a few more this morning. by 3:00 some storms in the foothills up north and some skirt through the denver area and move out east. a possibility for bigger thunderstorms with hail and wind and potentially heavy rainfall. temperatures this morning starting off with 48 in denver and 58 in boulder. 45 in avon and 50 in steamboat and 63 in grand junction. a mix o throughout the morning and chance of those afternoon evening storms comes later on. a two car accident in the eastbound direction of 6th avenue near sheridan on to eastbound 6th avenue off to the right shoulder. it's affecting a portion of the ramp due to the police presence. that's going to cause people to dump into the right lane early the gore point. so the design flaw there or it's working as its supposed to but it's slowing traffic down. here we are across the denver metro area. mississippi close to the east of santa fe out to broadway, that closure in place all week long as they continue to do work. westbound along 6th avenue completely closed off except for the and as those storms move to the eastern plains the potential for larger thunderstorms and hail and wind and some heavier rainfall being the bigger threats. tomorrow morning rain and fog on the eastern earlier and an alert was sent out this morning -- all the traffic is being taken off of there for now. that's going to mean a detour for you. i would recommend taking sims to colfax to access westbound on to u.s. six. that's during the day today. not sure what the closure scenario will be like but they will be out there working again tomorrow. shawn chitnis will have an area, a trouble spot along i-76 in the eastbound direction at sheridan. you can see it here from our c-dot camera. police right along the ramp so it's forcing an early merge there so they aren't able to use the acceleration lane to get into traffic. all of this has to slow down and allow the zipper affect. southbound along i-25 as you make your way in the southbound diren. and still into the 50s, speeds good on social media. a warning there for parents and students, deputies want to know if there's other victims. aurora theater shooting fees for suing cinamark. they lost the lawsuit and have agreed now not to appeal the verdict. u.s. olympians now are dealing with cyber security breach at the hands of russian hackers who published the confidential medical records for simone biles and others online yesterday. the records were stolen from the world anti doping agency. they revealed records are called therapeutic use exceptions which allow athletes to use banned substance. biles had indicated she tweeting them out now. good morning, watching a couple accidents there across the denver area eastbound along shoulder is blocking a portion of the ramp to accelerate on to 6th avenue causing slowing as well. an accident along highway 85 as you get to i-76 and at 74th. we have some emergency bridge repair work causing a slow commute on westbound u.s. six at i-70. shawn chitnis is live this of day. it's probably more heading into the evening hours as we see more direction. it's after you take the ramp to get on to i-70. you can stick it out or go around it. cut across colfax and head back on to u.s. six in the westbound direction. that's going to be the best way around that. you can just wait it out. eastbound along 6th avenue a trouble spot off to the right shoulder. we expect some delays. southbound coming through town, seeing heavier volume and nort colfax. a couple accidents. one in the westbound direction. we also have mississippi that is closed to the east of santa fe out to broadway causing some delays there. here's a look at drive times that we have in the eastbound direction of i-270. speeds dipping into the 30s. new video to show everyone this morning as tropical storm julia brings heavy rain and this is what it looks like overnight in jacksonville and surrounding counties. the strongest storm this year is hitting the southern tip of taiwan as it wind and chance for storms coming up. new crash northbound along i-25 along the ramp of i-70. of course that's a spot where we typically have a lot of volume so we're seeing slowing from colfax in the northbound direction of i-225. northbound back open after a crash at i-70. a truck pulling a trailer hit a support pillar. look at these pictures. the driver is seriously hurt in this. big work going on this morning to fix a i-70 overpass whacked by a backhoe. this is the damage here. shawn chitnis is live now. headed out to golden this could get bad. >> reporter: yeah, only one lane available in the westbound direction of highway starting to see crews working on the part of the bridge that's damaged so let me step out of the way so you can get a look at what we're talking about here. in the distance is the westbound lanes and as you might be able to see and we have been talking about all morning, only one lane available because they had to close the westbound lanes and use the shoulder to allow traffic to get through. so that's what you're seeing right there. if we move the camera a bit you can see the construction crews that's the bridge where they are now starting to make repairs. this is going to happen all day today until 9:00 p.m. and again tomorrow from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. so of course be prepared for delays and if you can try to find an alternate route. two days of this until crews can finish. live in golden, shawn chitnis, cbs4 news. a denver woman is dead and her husband is the one in we're hearing from a family friend whachlt is that friend saying? >>reporter: that friend actually witnessed what happened. police are calling this death suspicious. they're not saying why they're calling it suspicious but the friend who is a neighbor said it was the pastor who was seen being taken away in handcuffs and his wife who is dead found evening. police expected to conduct an autopsy today at which point we will learn more about the manner of her death. when police responded to this home in the 14,000-block of east andrews drive a friend and neighbor say the pastor called him right after the woman was found and said something bad had happened to his wife. the neighbor also said the pastor's wife was sick but he would have never done anything to harm her. >> they community and ask for them, they will tell you this was a man of god. >> reporter: police won't say if they have anybody in custody at all at this point in time. they're conducting interviews at this point in time but the autopsy is being conducted this morning so we're going to continue to learn why she veered off the road and slammed into a concrete pillar. three arizona police officers are recovering this morning after a driver slammed into them at a gas station parking lot in scattered showers by lunchtime. here in denver storms could roll in later this afternoon and evening. as they skirt to the eastern plains they could be bigger and snow overnight in the central mountains. fog tomorrow morning out east and we could still get a few isolated storms. today temperatures are warmer. 79 in greeley and 71 in five day forecast tomorrow, isolated storms possible and friday a chance for storms in the low 70s. a traffic alert we're following northbound along i-25 on the ramp to westbound i-70. the left portion of that is completely blocked due to an accident there starting to drag on drive time as well in the northbound direction from mississippi all the way out to i-770 speeds in the 30s and 40s as you see slowing developing there along i-270. an accident in the eastbound direction of 6th avenue at sheridan off to the right shoulder affecting traffic trying to merge on to 6th avenue itself. you see eastbound as you travel along c-470 starting to load up with lauren today. good morning, yes, the chance for more snow in parts of the high country today. it's really foggy outside this morning in parts of the plains. let's look at our visibility map. it's rough as you head up towards fort collins and cheyenne and colorado springs, thick fog as well. a little bit of cloud cover in the city and thicker fog on the plains from limon to ouray and down south as well. we'll break down a moment. an accident on our c-dot camera. you can see there in the eastbound direction the flashing lights at sheridan that is causing delays. some of this is turning yellow and speeds still into the 60s now eastbound along 6th avenue from sims to i-25. look at the damage here at this is really emergency repair. >> reporter: yes, over my shoulder you can sea the flashing lights. those are crews getting ready to do the emergency repairs because of what happened over the weekend. let's look at the damage from these photos that c-dot tweeted over the weekend showing a semi carrying construction equipment in the accident that happened there that broke off a piece of the bridge and that needs to be fixed. westbound lanes of highway 6 here at i-70 in golden will be clos there happening from now until 9 p.m. tonight and again from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. tomorrow and c-dot is saying this needs to happen during the day because of the materials they're using as well as for safety reasons. expect some delays and see if you can find an alternative route. this is going on until 9 p.m. tonight. live in golden, shawn chitnis, cbs4 news. a neighbor says officers the pastor's wife was found dead inside their denver home last night on east andrews drive. jamie leary is back in the neighborhood this morning. this seems to be a lot of details to sort out in this case. >> reporter: an important piece of investigation happening today. police conducting an autopsy this morning to determine how the victim died. she was found dead in this home on east andrews circle. police somebody in custody though. they're calling it suspicious so we're hoping to learn more about the investigation in general. police won't say why the death is suspicious. it was just after 5:30 yesterday evening when they responded to the home on east andrews drive. a neighbor tells cbs4 that it is a woman who is dead and her husband who is a teacher and pastor at a nearby church was taken away in handcuffs. after calling the police. >> they just came back from school. i said well, what are you thinking? he said the paramedics are here. and i took off. >> reporter: the neighbor also told us that the woman was actually very sick. he said there's no way that the pastor would have to harm her. police are questioning several people but haven't said there's anyone in custody at this point in time. the autopsy is being conducted so hoping for results sometime today. that's one of the stories we're working on today. weather and traffic every ten minutes on the 4's. a few storms out there today and the possibly of more on the lawson burg and trinidad this morning. we'll get a few breaks in clouds and there's a few more this morning. by 3:00 some storms in the foothills up north and some skirt through the denver area and move out east. a possibility for bigger thunderstorms with hail and wind and potentially heavy rainfall. temperatures this morning starting off with 48 in denver and 58 in boulder. 45 in avon and 50 in steamboat and 63 in grand junction. a mix o throughout the morning and chance of those afternoon evening storms comes later on. a two car accident in the eastbound direction of 6th avenue near sheridan on to eastbound 6th avenue off to the right shoulder. it's affecting a portion of the ramp due to the police presence. that's going to cause people to dump into the right lane early the gore point. so the design flaw there or it's working as its supposed to but it's slowing traffic down. here we are across the denver metro area. mississippi close to the east of santa fe out to broadway, that closure in place all week long as they continue to do work. westbound along 6th avenue completely closed off except for the shoulder. that should be about a five minute delay if we get a lot of volume out take sims out to colfax to avoid it altogether. turn on our partners koa news radio for the latest traffic and cbs4 rain in the southern part of the parts of fof mot fif county. rain is sticking around this morning. by munch time scattered showers into the high country and heavier rainfall in some spots and this in the south western corner of the state as well. a mix of sunshine and cloud cover and a few breaks in the clouds like yesterday and in the afte for thunderstorms to roll on through. potential in denver and as those storms move to the eastern plains the potential for larger thunderstorms and hail and wind and some heavier rainfall being the bigger threats. tomorrow morning rain and fog on the eastern temperatures in the upper 50s and 40s. shawn got to the scene this morning and we're seeing from copter4 they have completely shut down westbound 6th avenue. so not letting traffic along the shld earlier and an alert was sent out this morning -- all the traffic is being taken off of there for now. that's going to mean a detour for you. i would recommend taking sims to colfax to access westbound on to u.s. six. that's during the day today. not sure what the closure scenario will be like but they will be out there working again tomorrow. shawn chitnis will have an area, a trouble spot along i-76 in the eastbound direction at sheridan. you can see it here from our c-dot camera. police right along the ramp so it's forcing an early merge there so they aren't able to use the acceleration lane to get into traffic. all of this has to slow down and allow the zipper affect. southbound along i-25 as you make your way in the southbound diren. and still into the 50s, speeds good northbound. samsung has a quick fix for the galaxy note 7 phones. these are known to catch fire and there's a crack down on ticket scalpers. this is the news on wall street. jill wagner is live at the students at dutch creek elry spring. an affidavit says the notes complimented the girls looks and told them to call him. he texted nude photos of himself and got the teen's phone number by finding her on social media. a warning there for parents and students, deputies want to know if there's other victims. aurora theater shooting fees for suing cinamark. they lost the lawsuit and have agreed now not to appeal the verdict. u.s. olympians now are dealing with cyber security breach at the hands of russian hackers who published the confidential medical records for simone biles and others online yesterday. the records were stolen from the world anti doping agency. they revealed records are called therapeutic use exceptions which allow athletes to use banned substance. biles had indicated she had an energy zapping disease a few years ago. he tells me having a family is his dream. cameron is looking for a supportive, happy, athletic family. we introduced you to him before. he learned delays on the e, h e and f lines. the a-line no delays. a maryland bus driver is being called a hero for saving 20 elementary school students from a burning bus. flames erupted inside the bus as thick black smoke poured out of the vehicle. it happened in college park just minutes after she saw a brake warning light on the dash. the door and made sure to get everybody off the bus. >> my biggest tweeting them out now. good morning, watching a couple accidents there across the denver area eastbound along shoulder is blocking a portion of the ramp to accelerate on to 6th avenue causing slowing as well. an accident along highway 85 as you get to i-76 and at 74th. we have some emergency bridge repair work causing a slow commute on westbound u.s. six at i-70. shawn chitnis is live this morning. this work is not going to be other any tim first of two days where we're dealing with these emergency repairs and as you mentioned earlier, you saw traffic open in one lane. those construction crews in place making it quite the challenge. let's look at the damage c-dot tweeted earlier in the week when a semi was carrying construction equipment and that hit part of the bridge 6:00 at the adams hig to hear your concerns about the police department. they're stepping in at the request of the city. a diet soda ban could soon fizzle out in colorado schools. the colorado board of education is making a final vote on what to do about the issue tonight. the decision could end the seven-year ban on diet soda. some health advocates said the drinks can lead to tooth decay. fire danger seems to be improving in parts of the state. ban in areas west of gun club road. evacuations are place in parts of grant county because of the wildfire burning there that is only about three acres but the flames look impressive. crews are telling people around the grand river ranch to get out. strong winds continue to fan the flames. crews making good progress on the beaver creek fire. the 38,000 acre fire is burning along the and it's now 72% contained. fresh snow on the mountains is getting skiers excited including our producer garrett body. marshall took these yesterday from of i-70. that's what you're seeing on top of that. underneath you have the lanes closed off except the right shoulder. traffic is moving along through there and we don't see a lot of volume this time of day. it's probably more heading into the evening hours as we see more direction. it's after you take the ramp to get on to i-70. you can stick it out or go around it. cut across colfax and head back on to u.s. six in the westbound direction. that's going to be the best way around that. you can just wait it out. eastbound along 6th avenue a trouble spot off to the right shoulder. we expect some delays. southbound coming through town, seeing heavier volume and nort colfax. a couple accidents. one in the westbound direction. we also have mississippi that is closed to the east of santa fe out to broadway causing some delays there. here's a look at drive times that we have in the eastbound direction of i-270. speeds dipping into the 30s. new video to show everyone this morning as tropical storm julia brings heavy rain and this is what it looks like overnight in jacksonville and surrounding counties. the strongest storm this year is hitting the southern tip of taiwan as it wind and chance for storms coming up. new crash northbound along i-25 along the ramp of i-70. of course that's a spot where we typically have a lot of volume so we're seeing slowing from colfax in the northbound direction of i-225. northbound back open after a crash at i-70. a truck pulling a trailer hit a support pillar. look at these pictures. the driver is seriously hurt in this. big work going on this morning to fix a i-70 overpass whacked by a backhoe. this is the damage here. shawn chitnis is live now. headed out to golden this could get bad. >> reporter: yeah, only one lane available in the westbound direction of highway starting to see crews working on the part of the bridge that's damaged so let me step out of the way so you can get a look at what we're talking about here. in the distance is the westbound lanes and as you might be able to see and we have been talking about all morning, only one lane available because they had to close the westbound lanes and use the shoulder to allow traffic to get through. so that's what you're seeing right there. if we move the camera a bit you can see the construction crews that's the bridge where they are now starting to make repairs. this is going to happen all day today until 9:00 p.m. and again tomorrow from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. so of course be prepared for delays and if you can try to find an alternate route. two days of this until crews can finish. live in golden, shawn chitnis, cbs4 news. a denver woman is dead and her husband is the one in we're hearing from a family friend whachlt is that friend saying? >>reporter: that friend actually witnessed what happened. police are calling this death suspicious. they're not saying why they're calling it suspicious but the friend who is a neighbor said it was the pastor who was seen being taken away in handcuffs and his wife who is dead found evening. police expected to conduct an autopsy today at which point we will learn more about the manner of her death. when police responded to this home in the 14,000-block of east andrews drive a friend and neighbor say the pastor called him right after the woman was found and said something bad had happened to his wife. the neighbor also said the pastor's wife was sick but he would have never done anything to harm her. >> they community and ask for them, they will tell you this was a man of god. >> reporter: police won't say if they have anybody in custody at all at this point in time. they're conducting interviews at this point in time but the autopsy is being conducted this morning so we're going to continue to follow this story. live in denver, jamie leary, cbs4 news. he lost two endorsements but is gaining a new one. brandon marshall is looking now continues to protests what he calls social injustices. russell simmons is offering him an endorsement with his company. he took a knee during the national anthem is expected to talk today about his meeting yesterday with denver's police chief. the linebacker spent nearly an hour yesterday with the chief. the broncos asked the chief if he would meet w about those national anthem protests. >> it's always good to give money but to spend his time talking to young people about making good decisions and not putting themselves in harm's way so we're going to give him a list of things that we think he can do working in partnership with our police high school football coach is waking up in his own bed this morning. he was released from the hospital last night. he tweeted saying he had a rough few days in the hospital but he's home now. legacy learn why she veered off the road and slammed into a concrete pillar. three arizona police officers are recovering this morning after a driver slammed into them at a gas station parking lot in phoenix. the video is hard to watch. the officers are expected to be one is sent sailing into the air. video also caught the red sedan speeding at the opposite end of the parking lot so the officer that went airborne suffered a concussion but was able to wrestle the driver to the ground. it was his first day on the job. one sergeant suffered a broken leg while the third only has scrapes and bruises. the police chief is calling this an donald trump visits flinlt, michigan today. he spoke at a rally in pennsylvania yesterday. he held up a baby moments after unveiling his plan that calls for allowing parents to deduct child care expenses from income taxes and guarantees paid maternity leave. >> my opponent has no child care plan. she never will and if it ever evolves into a plan it programs were a public service. he's charged with espionage and currently living in russia. comcast is making internet affordable in lower income are being up grated thanks to a $100,000 grant from comcast. the program was expanded to include anyone receiving housing assistance from hudd. >> we increase the eligible pool for internet essentials by 2 million families nationally and 50,000 in the state of colorado including 17,000 in the city of denver. >> internet essentials high speed internet from comcast is a computer through the program is $150. csu is pretty busy this fall with schools setting a new enrollment record. cu denver just announced record breaking numbers this number. total enrollment is more than 14,000, that's the largest number in school's history. new this morning storms so watch out for thunderstorms with that later on out east. some could potentially have heavy rainfall as well. the morning hours the showers start to ease western corner of the state and scattered showers by lunchtime. here in denver storms could roll in later this afternoon and evening. as they skirt to the eastern plains they could be bigger and snow overnight in the central mountains. fog tomorrow morning out east and we could still get a few isolated storms. today temperatures are warmer. 79 in greeley and 71 in five day forecast tomorrow, isolated storms possible and friday a chance for storms in the low 70s. a traffic alert we're following northbound along i-25 on the ramp to westbound i-70. the left portion of that is completely blocked due to an accident there starting to drag on drive time as well in the northbound direction from mississippi all the way out to i-770 speeds in the 30s and 40s as you see slowing developing there along i-270. an accident in the eastbound direction of 6th avenue at sheridan off to the right shoulder affecting traffic trying to merge on to 6th avenue itself. you see eastbound as you travel along c-470 starting to load up
