Joel, thank you very much. A mother is dead and her son in the hospital after their dogs go on the attack. This happened in confer. Cbs4 Shawn Chitnis is live right now at Swedish Medical Center where the son was taken. Shawn. Reporter alan, good morning and the son is here at the with him calling 911 late last night. The Sheriffs Office can hear him scream nothing the background. They found two dogs and the dogs are pit bull terriers and the dogs were looks inside the house and you know they attacked a woman and her son. She did have serious injuries and died on scene from those injuries. Her son doesnt appear to have lifethreatening Swedish Medical Center getting treated for those wounds. We dont have an update on his conditions, but there were two people there at the time and the dogs did live at that home. Deputies were able to take the dogs into custody with the assistance of animal control and the dogs were transported down the hill alive. And those dogs will remain in their custody and were told the Sheriffs Office needs to wait for the investigation to wrap up with those dogs. Live in englewood, Shawn Chitnis, cbs4 morning news. Denver police made an arrest and theyre looking for another driver involve involved in this street racing that probably led to this crash. Nick was hit and killed by drag racers. The 26year old street artist was a block from his home. The preliminary look at the id were talking about interstate highway speeds. Witnesses told police they say this orange Dodge Caliber reving its engine with a black sedan and the driver of the dodge, a 17year old with just a learners permit left the scene and called his parent before he was turned in to authorities. The other driver is on the run. There are organizations that use social media to set these things up. And bring in a spontaneous or not, officers dont have an opportunity to be there when they occur. Organized street racing is from yous freighting the its frustrating officials. They take their dangerous sports to dangerous highways and streets. They go down morrison road and they go through here. Police dont know if incident last night was coordinated, but neighbors say on this stretch of alameda, drag races happen every weekend night. A strange case in centennial where investigators say a man intentionally crashed his car trying to kill his son. Police say he told them he wanted to kill his 2year old son because being a father was a big responsibility. A seatbelt, but his son was not. The boy had serious injuries including a broken femur and a concussion. Were learning more about a deadly Home Invasion and shooting over the weekend. Police tells us they believe the attackers may have known the victim. It was shortly after midnight on saturday when officers raced a block north of morrison and alameda. They found 1 man dead and rushed another to the hospital in critical condition. Investigators believes the two still very brief at this point. The suspects stormed away the suspects stormed into the home. Police want to interview the victim once hes out of icu.
