Alyx breaking news overnight, two people were sent to the hospital after a shooting in ankeny. Ankeny Police Say Two people were shot in the mcdonalds parking lot off oralabor road and state street. This happened at about 10 15 last night. Police say the two victims were 18yearold justin fons van and nicholas culver. They did not know the shooter, pulled up and saw a kid getting bandaged sitting on the curb, over on the end of the parking lot and they were taking a guy away in a stroller with a neck bandage on, didnt look very good. Alyx police say a woman was with the suspect at the time of the shooting but was not charged in the case. We are waiting to hear the condition of the victims. This morning a 13yearold girl is safe after a statewide amber alert. Authorities found 13yearold Paige Johnstone safe in georgia. 19yearold Kevin Ramirez is now charged with child stealing and enticing a minor. Ottumwa police say he traveled from florida to iowa to meet with johnstone. New this morning. A late night for Iowa Democrats at the Jefferson Jackson dinner. Hillary clinton, Bernie Sanders and Martin Omalley all spoke at the fundraising dinner. Each candidate made their case to the party faithful. Clinton spoke after 10 00 last night and used her stage time to go after republicans. Ms. Clinton when republicans debate, they compete to insult each other, demean women, and they double down on trickle down. Actually, it is reality tv, with a cast of characters who dont care much about actual reality. Alyx Bernie Sanders used his speech to draw sharp contrast with clinton on a number of issues. Sanders suggested that clinton is revising history to explain why her husband, president clinton, signed an act in the 1990s defining marriage as a union of one man and one woman. Mr. Sanders now today, some are trying to rewrite history to say they voted for one anti gay law to stop something worse. That is not the case. There was a small minority in the house opposed to discriminating against our gay brothers and sisters, and i am glad that im one of those members. Alyx Martin Omalley stressed that hes the president ial candidate of actions not words. Omalley spent his stage time talking about why he thinks the minimum wage should go up. Mr. Omalley no American Family who works hard and plays by the rules should ever have to raise their children in poverty, and therefore we must raise the minimum wage to 50 an hour, however we can, wherever we can. Alyx before the dinner, all 3 Democratic Candidates held rallies in des moines. Young fans lined up for hours at the Hillary Clinton rally, just for a chance to catch pop star katy perry. While democrats held downtown rallies, two gop candidates spent time campaigning in iowa. About 600 people waited in line yesterday afternoon to meet doctor ben carson at the barnes and noble in West Des Moines. Carson was there signing copies of his book called a more perfect union. We asked carson how he feels about now leading republicans in two polls. Mr. Carson you know, im not going to get overly excited because i realize that the election is still, you know, 13 months away but id rather be at the top than at the bottom of the polls. Alyx senator ted cruz also in the state this weekend. The republican president ial candidate made stops in Council Bluffs and marshalltown. Cruz is also gaining momentum in iowa. In the latest quinnipiac poll, he was in fourth place behind senator marco rubio. Switching gears from politics to whether at 6 06, it is a chilly morning out there. Frank lets take a look at satellite radar. We do not have much in the way of any cloud cover. We did earlier actually later on last night in southeastern iowa. That has since pushed out, but the big story is to the south. This is what is left of patricia and it is slowly making its way north, dumping a lot of rainfall in texas. It will not affect our weather much until it interacts with another system tuesday into wednesday. Until then, we have to deal with these cool wakeup temperatures with little cloud cover. Alyx new this morning, the number of people injured in a crash at an Oklahoma State University Homecoming parade has grown to 44. Four people are dead, including a toddler, all after a driver plowed into a crowd of people. Brian webb has the latest. Brian victims were treated in the middle of main street after a car plowed into a parked Police Motorcycle then crashed into a crowd of spectators at a high rate of speed a few blocks from campus. We can kind of hear a little screaming, sounded like a vehicle accelerating. Luckily this car hit a big hole. I think it wouldve hurt a lot more people. Brian at least four people were killed, dozens more were injured. Some victims were airlifted to hospitals in tulsa and oklahoma city. The oklahoma homecoming parade is probably one of the most wholesome and happy events in the county and to have it fouled like this, these victims, this terrible tragedy. Brian 25yearold stillwater resident adacia chambers is in jail, charged with driving under the influence. Authorities dont know if the incident was an accident or intentional. We treat these like we would any Homicide Investigation and it will take several days to get Additional Information. Brian the homecoming game was played as scheduled just a few hours after the incident with stadium flags flying at halfstaff and a moment of silence in honor of the victims. Brian webb for cbs news. Alyx this is not the first tragedy to strike Oklahoma State. In 2001, 10 mens basketball players were killed in a plane crash coming home from a game. San antonio broke its daily rainfall record. This weather is whats left over from Hurricane Patricia. Its not just Central Texas thats been affected. Rose perry performed several songs wearing a starspangled affair. She sang america the beautiful as well as hit firework to a crowd of nearly a thousand ready for hillary. I like Hillary Clinton and i like katy perry at the same time. Rose but others i came for katy perry. And im living the bern, im living the bern. Rose across the river, what the Bernie Sanders rally lacked in superstar performers, it made up with planes and support. Im just excited to be a part of this. This is the first time ive really taken interest. Rose the rally culminated with hundreds of supporters marching behind sanders as he made his way to the Jefferson Jackson dinner, making it quite the day to be in des moines. The former Maryland Governor came from osage where he attended a meet and greet concert before coming to des moines to perform with local musicians at his rally. So as they try to put on their best face this weekend, Iowa Democrats are rightfully worried about having placed all of their eggs in one basket with a deeply flawed candidate. Republicans, meanwhile are , laying the groundwork to make sure we deliver iowa to our eventual republican nominee, reelect senator grassley, reelect all of our republican representatives and color the state red in local races. Kenneth a brick facade and the roof of a home were no match for powerful winds from a storm that tore through pearland, texas saturday. More than a foot of rain came down in corsicana. Kenneth the relentless rain washed away tracks, causing a Freight Train to derail. Flash flooding also shut down a major highway between dallas and houston for hours. Traffic was backed up for miles. South and Central Texas are preparing for another round of misery. Remnants of Hurricane Patricia, which hit mexico as a category five storm, are expected to dump ground saturday night. In seabrook, the storm surge is already pounding the gulf coast with strong waves. Because the tides are several feet above normal, officials are worried about the potential for coastal flooding, especially on streets like this one that started taking on water saturday night. Well take it one hour at a time. If the tide comes in and the waves get bigger, well make a decision if we need to get out of here. Doctors say because of a brain tumor evan has had since he was two, he wont make it to the 25th of december so his whole town of st. George, ontario, an hour and half outside of toronto, has come together in the most remarkable way to celebrate christmas in october with him. Evan got his very own parade. We had over 200, almost 240 floats apply to be in this parade and we had to cut it down to 25. How nice to be able to celebrate christmas early. Alyx turning to the breaking news overnight, two people were sent to the hospital after a shooting in ankeny. Ankeny Police Say Two people were shot in the mcdonalds parking lot off oralabor road and state street. Last night. The two victims did not know the alleged shooter, but the shooting happened after a fight inside the restaurant. The suspect turned himself in about 30 minutes after the shooting. Pulled up and saw a kid getting bandaged sitting on the curb, over on the end of the parking lot and they were taking a guy away in a stroller with a neck bandage on, didnt look very good. Alyx police say a woman was with the suspect at the time of the shooting that was not charged. We are still waiting to hear the conditions of the victims. This morning a 13yearold girl is safe after a statewide amber alert. Authorities found 13yearold Paige Johnstone safe in georgia. 19yearold Kevin Ramirez is now charged with child stealing and enticing a minor. Ottumwa police say he traveled from florida to iowa to meet with johnstone. New this morning a late night , for Iowa Democrats at the Jefferson Jackson dinner. Hillary clinton, Bernie Sanders and Martin Omalley all spoke at the fundraising dinner. Each candidate made their case to the party faithful. Clinton spoke after 10 00 last night and used her stage time to go after republicans. Ms. Clinton when republicans debate, they compete to insult each other, demean women, and they double down on trickle down. Actually, it is reality tv, with a cast of characters who do not care much about actual reality. Alyx Bernie Sanders used his speech to draw sharp contrast with clinton on a number of issues. Sanders suggested that clinton is revising history to explain why her husband, president bill clinton, signed an act in the 1990s defining marriage as a union of one man and one woman. Alyx new this morning, the number of people injured in a crash at an Oklahoma State University Homecoming parade has now grown to 44. Four people are dead, including a toddler, all after a driver plowed into a crowd of people. Brian webb has the latest. Brian victims were treated in the middle of main street after a car plowed into a parked Police Motorcycle then crashed into a crowd of spectators at a high rate of speed a few blocks from campus. We can kind of hear a little screaming, sounded like a vehicle accelerating. Luckily this car hit a big pole. I think it wouldve hurt a lot more people. Brian at least four people were killed, dozens more were injured. Some victims were airlifted to hospitals in tulsa and oklahoma city. The oklahoma homecoming parade is probably one of the most wholesome and happy events in the county and to have it fouled like this, these victims, this terrible tragedy. Brian 25yearold stillwater resident adacia chambers is in jail, charged with driving under the influence. Authorities dont know if the incident was an accident or intentional. We treat these like we would any Homicide Investigation and it will take several days to get Additional Information. Brian the homecoming game was played as scheduled just a few hours after the incident with stadium flags flying at halfstaff and a moment of silence in honor of the victims. Brian webb for cbs news. In seabrook, the storm surge is already pounding the gulf coast with strong waves. Because the tides are several feet above normal, officials are worried about the potential for coastal flooding, especially on streets like this one that started taking on water saturday night. They were taking part in a christmas parade. And for a good reason. Candace daniel shows us how one town is helping a young boy get what could be one of his last wishes. Candace 7yearold Evan Leversage opened his christmas presents today. I said to him, Merry Christmas, evan, and he said, Merry Christmas, mummy. And you know, its been a very special day, obviously, a busy day. Having all these people come together and want to make a parade for evan is truly, [cries] candace evan and his family had to celebrate christmas in october. Doctors say because of a brain tumor evan has had since he was two, he wont make it to the 25th of december so his whole town of st. George, ontario, an hour and half outside of toronto, has come together in the most remarkable way to celebrate christmas in october with him. Evan got his very own parade. Floats apply to be in this parade and we had to cut it down to 25 because the essence of this entire thing is evan. How nice to be able to celebrate christmas early. I just think it is cool but the whole community is coming together for one little boy. Candace evan has undergone 30 rounds of chemo and radiation. Doctors told his family this year, theres nothing more medicine can do. Weve had a lot of memorable moments in 7 years, just truthfully times, but this one definitely will be one that stands out for all of us. Candace but when santa pulls up to your door and invites you for a ride, theres no illness in the world that can keep a boy and a small town from believing dreams do come true. In fact, the illusionist, they have been here all weekend long. We have a matinee performance at 1 00 and an evening performance at 6 30. If you are into magic and mind blowing special effects, this is the show to see. I was amazed, i was frustrated because i was like, how do they do that . It is a great show of entertainment for a family of all ages. Alyx that is something that will keep you on the edge of your seat. You want to figure out how on earth. It is magic. There are some more things coming up before we wrap up an a Cappella Group b at the civic center who is currently on their new oldfashioned to or two or. Tour. We are happy to have them on the 28th of october. It is going to be a great concert and again, a great show for the entire family. Alyx talk about a grand finale for october, rob thomas coming at the end of the month. He is known for being part of matchbox 20. He has sold millions of albums so if you are looking for something to do on halloween night, that is not necessarily dressing up in a costume but you want to have a good time, rob thomas will be playing at the civic center, and tickets are still available. I am personally a fan of rob thomas so i cannot wait to see the concert. Coming to the civic center. The bridges of Madison County was a book, a movie, and now it is a musical from november 28 through december 5. It is a broadway performance. The music is extraordinary and it is in fact, the cast was here a couple weeks ago at the Madison County Covered Bridge festival. Now that we are just a few weeks away from the musical opening at the civic center, so it is going to be a real treat for people to see the musical version after the book and movie were so popular.
