Farmers tell us theyre continually checking their machines to make sure something doesnt create a spark. With the dry weather and these high winds that were experiencing, it would not take long for a fire to get out of control and you can burn an entire field before you get it stopped. That means its illegal to do any outdoor burning in those areas. But despite the lack of rain, the latest Drought Monitor map shows only far northeast and southeast iowa are dealing with a shortage of ground moisture.
