heavy snow in the mountains of colorado, even some snow out in nebraska. heaviest rain across the northern half of the state, extending up toward the twin cities. our timeline -- quiet tonight, maybe a little drizzle overnight. thunderstorms erupted tomorrow afternoon. 3:00 p.m. temperature, 61. storm prediction center has the metro and areas to the south in an enhanced risk for severe weather. it is this area and orange we are concerned about, and that spreads into missouri and illinois. timing details coming up. kevin: right now, authorities are investigating a deadly shooting in pomeroy. the calhoun county sheriff's office and iowa dci say they found a male around 2:00 this morning. no arrests yet. the man's identity has not been released. an autopsy is planned. new information polk county authorities identify three people hurt in a shooting at evolution nightclub early sunday morning. 25-year-old geraldine lindsey of illinois, 19-year-old marquise thompson, and 33-year-old steve gibbs, both of des moines, are all recovering. 20-year-old dashawn smith of des moines was killed. no arrests in the case yet. anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact polk county crime stoppers at steve: new at 5:00 details , revealed in court today, explain why a des moines teenager says he was at rupert and harriett anderson's eastside des moines home after police say he beat rupert to death and seriously injured harriett. kcci's kim st. onge was at the polk county courthouse for day 3 of the ngor makuey trial. kim: steve, new video shows a short exchange between a police officer and 19-year-old ngor makuey when she saw him standing at the anderson's front door just minutes after the attack. during that short exchange shown in this video, makuey told senior police officer linda powers he was at the anderson's home to pick up a dog as the couple owned vista boarding kennels for several decades. powers described makuey as calm and says he didn't immediately strike her as a suspect because he didn't try to run away. after the state rested its case, makuey's mother testified for the defense, saying ngor was born in an ethiopian refugee camp and was exposed to a lot of violence. she also discussed his prior drug addiction, which landed him in a group home and her concerns about his tendency to talk to himself. >> you can't talk by yourself if alone. maybe something kick in your mind to make you to be talk alone, but if you're normal, you can't talk alone. kim: makuey's attorneys are using the insanity defense, but his mother says he was new at 5:00 two iowa men , are back in a boston court today charged with making threats against a pokemon competition. prosecutors say kevin norton of ames and james stumbo of boone used social media to threaten violence at the event in saying august, they had a stash of weapons in their car when they tried to register. they've been held without bail after pleading not guilty to weapons charges. des moines police are asking for your help identifying two people caught on surveillance breaking into a laundromat. this happened at the laundry place on east university avenue. investigators say surveillance video shows the pair forcing their way from a public area of the laundry into a private office. if you recognize those people are you have any other information about the suspects, contact polk county crime stoppers at 515-223-1400. steve: new information on an ambulance and car collision this morning in des moines. this happened just before at 7:30 a.m. southwest 7th and mlk. police say the driver of the car didn't see the lights or hear the siren and turned right in front of the ambulance. the ambulance was carrying one patient. the patient and ambulance driver were taken to a local hospital. new numbers from the iowa department of transportation show that deadly crashes in the state are on pace with last year at this time. so far, 273 deaths have been reported on iowa and marco rubio will also make stops around the state. kevin: right now, appealing to the highest court. president obama wants to take his plan to protect millions of undocumented immigrants from deportation to the supreme court. the plan impacts immigrants brought to the united states illegally as children and parents of us citizens and permanent residents. monday, a circuit court of appeals in louisiana agreed with the federal judge who earlier this year blocked the president's initiative. critics say the plan is an act of executive overreach. the white house argues the president does have the power to take action without lawmakers approval. >> if congress is ready to get to work and actually do the right thing for the country and pass comprehensive immigration reform along the lines of what passed the senate in bipartisan fashion a couple of years ago, the president would happily rescind his executive order. kevin: if the supreme court does take up the administration's appeal this term, a decision could come next year. steve: new at 5:00 the senate , joins the house in passing a $607 billion defense bill. it contains a provision banning guantanamo bay detainees from
