E have breaking news overnight. Apple is refusing to follow a Government Order to hack the San Bernardino shooters phone. The fbi believes important clu about accomplices and more plots could be hidden on the phone but apple says complying with the Government Order could endanger everyone with an iphone. Abcs Pierre Thomas has all the od morning, pierre. Reporter good morning, george. Its a showdown between the fbi and apple. The fbi trying to force apple to open that iphone as it hunts for clues in the San Bernardino massacre. Apple saying no way and this morning a federal court is weighing in. A federal judge in california ordeng apple to help the fbi unlock an iphone used by syed farook who went on a murderous rampage with his wife leaving 14 dead in San Bernardino. We still have one off those killers phones we have not been able to open and its been over two months still worng on it. Reporter the ruling could be a key victory in their longrunng battle with apple and other Tech Companies about the governments ability to encrist data. Apple vowing to appeal and saying it would put the privacy of hdreds of millionons at risk and telling us overnight the government is asking apple to hack our own users and fear this freedoms our government protects. It did not have farooks numerical code to open the device. Ten unsuccessful attempts would cause it to erase key data and makehe phone permanently inaccessible. The battle is the traditional one between the sececity of society and theost of individual privacy. Reporter but that security feature a critical roadbloc the fbi has been unable to ge inside to look at texts or emails which mht help them dermine who farookk and his fe might have been communicating with and wre they might have traveled before inveveigators are desperate to find out what happened in an 18minute gap between the attack and the companys deadly encounter with law enforcement. Th couple allegedly swore allegiance to the leader of isis and the fbi wants to know the extent of isis involvement if any. That phone may hold the critical answers but the security onhat phone is precisely whatt stolenr lost so privacy versus security in a legal fight tha could go all the way to the Supreme Court. Lets talk to our chief legal analyst dan abrams about this. Ch aomentous case, dan and apple is likely to be under tremendous pressure. What does the law requir up too this point t t Legal Standard has been reasonable technil assistance, rit. Helping with a passwords no big deal but now these new phones have become so technologically advanced that at this point, to offer the assistance that the government needs, they have to literally create a wholeew s stem to back door these phones and apple is basically saying, look, once we create this, its going to get out and as a result, everything weve built in terms of protecting security and privacy is going to be out the door so this is one of those ultimate battles between the governments right to get information for an investigation rsus typicly its the media to know, here you have apple saying its the privacycy our users. Addin the argument it could endanger people with iphones, as well. The minute theyreate this, they say, its going to get out and as a relt, no os going to be safe is what apple is saying. Really interesting situation. Fascinating. Thankyou. Now to the race for the white house. It is your voioice, yourote, just three days until the critical south carolin primary. The latest poll there has donald trum with a 16point lead and abcs tom llamas hhe very latest from charlestst, South Carolina. Good morning, tom. Reporter amy,y, goomorning to you. Now, Donald Trumps b been in a war of words with all of his gop rivals, Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, but now the president is personally getting involved. I i continue to belve mr. Trumum will not be president. And the reason is because i have a lot of faith in the american people. Reporter president barack prprediction that the world will never see a president trump. Come on. Get in here saying trumps skills wont help him inhe white house. Its not hosting talk show or a reality show. Its not promotion. Its not marketing. Its hard. And a lot of people count on us tting it right. Reporter trump firing back a direct message. Youre lucky i didntt run last t time when romney ran because you would have been a oneterm presidident. Reporter but the president s criticisms sound a lot like what the other gop candidates are saying. When radical islamic terrorists wage jihadad on the United States of america, the answer is not to tweet insultsts atat them. Reporter do you think donald trump is someby you would fee safe with protecting our country. Wewell, i dont think donald has shownet an understag of our National Security situation. He hasnt really exhibited any sort of indepth knowledge about the issues confronting the country. Trumps shots at his brothers administration over 9 11 is nonsense. Though one envisioned 9 11. I dont care what donald trump says. The guy is a comete loser with histatements about this. Reporter and the Jeb Bush Campaign making a different type of statement on twitter tweeting the word america with this image of a new gun, bushs name etched on the barrel. But the campaign may have fired too fast. Jeb apparently unaware of the tweet explainghe gun was a gift. The ppose was we went to a gun manufacturing facility where lo of jobs are created, high wage jobs and i received a gun and i was honored to have it. Reporter now trumps criticisms of prede o oma on 9 11 may actually cost him some votes here in south cararolina because the govnor here nikki haley who is very popular with publicans is expected to endorseomeone but s says shes definitely not going to endorse trump. Why . She says its embarrassing that someone would attack president bush on one of t t worst days in a l l of e es on her with three days to. Clinton implying racism is behind the threat to block prident obamas supreme c court nomination. Many republins talk in coded racial language about takers and losers. They demonize president obama and encourage the uglyiest impulses of the paranoid fringege this kind of hatred and bigotry has no place in our politics or our cotry. That was nearly unraved by a a coughing fit lasting more than four minutes. Too much to say. Reporter she did manage too ge through that spspeech. Cecia, thanks very much. Lets talk about it with matthew dowdnd Fox News Contributor mary katharineneam. Welcome to you both. Dead heat. A few months ago Hillary Clinton had a 20point lead and shows Bernie Sanders is starting to cut into her advantage on minority voters. She is keeping on movg the fire wall down the calendar. Her argument has been ioio, new mpshire, predominantly white rural states. Well, youre going to nevada which is a predominantly urbanized state. South carolina closes probably stil difficult for Bernie Sanders b but the dynamics of t t race will keep a austing as Bernie Sanders wiwins. It will go on for long time. On the republican side mary kathryn, you have him holding on to that big ad. What would it mean if after basically declaring war on t leaders donald trump wins in south rolina which traditiolly goes with thehe winner of the nomination. I think it doesnt mean the d of the race certainly. He as you see with all of his polling he remains strong and support remains strong even whe he makes in u. S. Takes but if cruz and rubio as we see in polling can finish a strong second and make an argument we e will have the threeman race many thought we would have coming out of new hampshirend refocus people. Matthew dowd, at the same time you have allhese Republican Leaders even after he attacks president obama saying they will support trump if he is the nominee. I think theyll be in a difficult spot. I think if he wins south threeman race tts good for donald trump because i think donald trump right now, his bottom is 35 . He ws neva next, he goes into march 1st and probably wins most of the states on march 1st. How do you stop donald trump once he wins South Carolina . That will be the question. Ththk you both. Thats his before you show he sneezes. Shakes it out. Now, im just curious, c. J. , i have a treat for you here, but after c. J. Wins, is there like a treat . Is there a steak in orde Something Like that today, yeah, definitely. His eyes lit up when i grabbed the cheese. It kind of looked likeme. And now we know that you i was watching you show c. J and that is like a workout and i was curious when c. J. Isot being shown, is he like a regular dog around the house. Hes a regular house dog. Well be rig back, everybody. I sure had a lot on my mind when i got out of the hospital after a dvt blood clot. What about my family . My lil buddy . And what if this happened again . I was given warfarin in the hospital but i wondered if this was the right treatment for me. Then my doctor told me about eleliquis. Eliquis s treats d and pepe blood clots and reduces the risk of them ppening again. Not only does eliquis treat dvt and pe blood clots, but eleliquis also had significantly less major bleeding than the standard treatment. Knowing eliquis had both. Turned around mymy thinking. Dont stop eliquis unlesyour doctor tells you to. Eliquis can cause serious and in rare cases fatal bleeding. Dont take eliquis if you have an artificial heart valve or abnormal bleeding. If you had a spinal injection while on eliquis call your doctor right away if you have tingling, numbness, or muscle weakness. While taking eliquis, you may bruise more easily. And it may take longer than usual for bleeding to stop. Like unusual bruising. Eliquis may increase your bleeding risk if you take certain medicines. Tell your doctor about all planned mecal or dental procedures. Eliquis treats dvt pe blood clots. Plus had less major bleeding. Both made switching to eliquis right for me. Ask your doctor if its right for you. There are 16 freshpicked oranges squeezed into each bottle of tropicana pure premium. And absolutely no space for added sugar, water, or preservatives. We want to get to that big headline about ultimate fighter ronda rousey, the superstar athlete makining a powerful confession admitting that when she lost that championship fight back in november, she considered taking her life. Abcs linsey davis is here with her story. Good mornin rousey was the ufc champion until that moment in november when she was knocked out after devastating kick in the head from holly holm. Rousey said she was so devastated she sat in the hohospital afterward and questioned what am i anymore if im not this . Ronda rousey. She is a powerhouse aththlete and a stunning cover model for sports illustrated, mixed martial arts superstar ronda rousey is seemily able to do it all. Shes unbelievevable. But now shes speaking out for the first time on camera since her scking defeat to holly holm is the new ufuf bantamweight championon. Tearfully revealing to Ellen Degeneres that she had suicidal though following her devastating loss. Was literally sitting there and thinking about killing myself and in that exact second im nothing. What do i do anymore. Reporter rousey whose father committed suicide w wn she w w juju 8 credidi her boyfriend of almost a year, travis brown for picking her back up. I looked up and a saw my man, travis was standing there and i looked up at him and i was just like, i need to have his bababies. I need to stay alive. Ronda sai travis remindsds her of herer father bececsee is a protector. Reporter speaking to her ten days after the hit it was the lowest point of her life. She was trying to process it and it did feel like the life she had been leading was over and i think thats what she was trying to say there. Reporter the 29yearoldddd economies she was burnt out title fight in nine months and while she might be out of the running for w, she says she has big plans for the future. I really do believe im still un undefeated because being defeated is a choice. Evybody has losse in their life but i choose to always be un undeated. Reporter holly holm reacted to rouseys agony saying when you lose at something you pour your heart and soul into, itss a terrible feeling. Holm is scheduled to defend her title march 5th. Rousey says she wants to beat holm to make eveverything right again. All right, linsey, thankso much. Joining us psychiatrist dr. Janet taylor. Janet, you could see the emotion of ronga in that moment. What do you think the impact is for those watching to hear her reveal that v vy dark moment . Its powerfulecause you have a champion whos expressing her vuerability. I mean everyone has a loss at for her she had an extreme reaction because she said she was suicidal and it also sounds like the loss challenged her sense of purpose. And this is not something we hear many peopl admit. Wh is it so hard for so ma of us to be open about those moment well, its stigma and so ofte still in societ theres a stigma against people who express extreme unhappiness or suicidal or have a mental disorder or i illss and shes saying she can work on it. Almost 50 of americans have a mental disorder, not Mental Illness which means you can be diagnosed wh something so t the point is if youre feeling something overwhelming and feel like you want to hurt yourself or feel extremely sad talk to somebody a about it. If ronda rousey can say it, anyone can. Right, because you c h have that situatial moment, as well, that strong emotion. It was interesng, ronda said when she felt thatt darkness she looked up and saw her boyfriend. How important is it too have someone, anyone there with you in those types . Its important. It was a moment. It was a suicidal thought. If someone is actually suicidal with a plan thats an emgency. Having a sense of support is extremely important. If you have a religious affiliation to talk to someone. And the key things to understand that you dont have to resolve it on your own. If youre aamily member and hear someone is suicidal get help. A lot of people are in those moments and part of the reason why the feel so down, so sad, so suicidal is because theyre alone. Who then do you reach out to . You have to brereak the silence and talk to your health care provider. If youre employed look for employ assistance or there are Guidance Counselors at universities and educate yourself about moods and nd reputable sourcee like the nat institute of Mental Health or the mayo clinic to identify what different mood swings can mean and get help for yourself. To know you are not alone. The is help. No, we have to break the means to have extreme mood swings. Dr. Janet ylor as always, thank you so much. Lara, over to you. Thank you, amy.
