showbiz. morning. have a very merry christmas. thank you, cecilia. now i had a chance to talk about the eper meaning of christmas vatican. father thomas rosaca. >> merry chriristmas. >> merry christmas to you. >> the pope inaugurated this year of mercy and called >>hat's right and called christmas a feast of tenderness, mercy, kindness, goodness. this has been a consistent theme in pe francis' message from beginning but christmas more than anythingg when you sp and look at the whole story, its origins, the simplicity, the vulnerility of god, the way that god chose to enter the world, it really is not a form of con dedescension but tendeess and mercy reminds me of pope francis meeting with the families in philadelphia and gives that incredible teachg on a saturday night and said where did gauze choose to send his sson, toe in a business or big entese or send him to some factory and office buildingng, no, he sent him to a family because the family was the source of love and a famy that had its doors open, what a very powerl message especially for this christmas. >> and what a jolt the pope sent on his misission here to america th year. >> it was a great gift to the people of americica, but also to the people of the world. i mean you and i both covered it. we were there moment by moment and as i think back to those moments entering the congress of the united states, speaking at the united nations, ground zero, who could ever forget those kids that were singing about peace. i mean, pope francisrought us all back to our origins and called us to our greatness then, of course, when he mentioned thosee four individuals in his address, the special session of congress, i had tears iny eyes, you know, who would think thatat you hear the pope, the pope of the hy see speaking about dorothy day and abraham lincoln and martin luther king and callin us back to who we are. >> what a gloss on american history that speech was. what do you think the impact has been? >> on many different levels, there's been impacts. i had the privilege of being with the pope every day during synod of bishops and referredd to that visit. fo him he was touched by the simplicity, the warmth and welcome and vibrancy of the american church. and of the cuban church, as well but i hi here in america it helped us all to realize that the pope is still of great interest to people. all of the media spped and covered that visit so there was a great s success there, but also the simplicity and profundity of the message no matter where he spoke he went right to the core of things and everybody could understand what he said. i've had priests talk to me since the visit, priests in the united states, priests in canada, others and they've said, you know, people were so moved that they'veve ce back too confession, people are coming to thsacramts, people are giving the church a second chance. >> he underscored the message by driving around in that will i will fiat. >> it's simplicity, it's bringing us back to the roots and the core. year. >> my personal hope for the new year we hear once again the christmas, glory to god in the highest and peace on earth to the peoee whom god favors and the world needs peace. this is the worst've seen the world in my short lifetime filled with tension and feaear, so i hope that once again we can all be committed to peace, i also hope that as t the pope sat in philadelphia on benjamin franklin parkway the lord came into the family because the family had its doors open and none of us out fear motivated by rhetor would shut our doors to strangerers and w know that there's this massive movement of refugees acrososs the face of the earth, let us not be afraid that we can welcome those who are strangers because at one point in our lives we were all those wandering refugees seeking a home. thatat would be my deepest hope and that we all come back to our simplicity and the core ofho we arere as human beings. you know, we say god so loved the world that he gave us his only son. the pope helps us to focus onn at christmas we focus on the son that god gave us, this wonderful incredibible gift. >> thank you very much. merry christmas. >> mry christmas, george. >> for any working parents the holidays are a challenging time but for one group of working moms, this season is especially difficult to balance and i know a part of nba family but also, you know, creating inspiration for the kids. >> definitely for me being a too long ago that i was looking up to people like this, so for me the biggest thing just seeing
